I let too much time elapse since the tour. it was on 3 July in case there is any confusion. we visited 3 local, independent breweries. each very different from the other but all very good. all served food, but I didn't look if it was snacks or meals. we just got a few snacks along the way. not sure whether to call them brewpubs or not. Bearmoose was first. nice little industrial hole in the wall. good beer. Galactic Haze was the standout. Portico followed. an excellent kölsch and Belgian blonde. kitschy Lego tap handles. Lamplighter was the finale. some exquisite beers here. Fieldbier, Tangerine Twist, Izzzy were all excellent. Night Cap, a barrel aged Russian imperial stout was simply superb!! read more

What an experience! I'm Phil and John made this experience one for the books! We came to celebrate our friends bachelorette. Phil made sure to connect all the people in the van at the start of our tour. By the end, we made new friends! We stopped at Bearmoose, Night Shift Brewing, and Aeronaut. Each experience was unique and perfectly balance. I loved that they highlighted small craft breweries. The inside of each was perfect for the vibe they wanted to achieve. Bearmoose was woody and casual. Night Shift was bright and active with a great outdoor space. Aeronaut was unique and fun with games and fun decor. The tour guide, Phil, made this experience as special as it was. He never missed an opportunity to share history or fill a glass. Six of us did a private Boston brew tour with our able commander in chief, Steve. It was an enjoyable afternoon of beer history, fun facts, and brew tastings. Steve showed up on time and ready to get started. It's great to be shuttled around and not have to worry about how many beers you've had or where the closest parking might be. We visited Portico Brewery in Cambridge, Chelsea Street Station in Chelsea and Night Shift Brewing in Everett. We were able to try many different beers and It was a great way to familiarize ourselves with beers we typically wouldn't order. I would highly recommend one of their tours. You can't beat the convenience and the ability to taste some new brews! read more

I didn't see anything for flavor walk food tours but our guide said they were related to this company. We just had an incredible experience with chef Shawn on our tour. Perfect amount of Boston food history and humor. EVERTHING was great. The lobster roll was the best. To the point of ruining every lobster roll I may ever have. I left full and happy. Filling our own cannoli's at the end was so much fun. Our guide walked us to a coffee house once the tour was over because we asked for a great coffee spot. read more

Our group came out from San Diego during the St. Patrick's Day weekend. Bill was ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!! His knowledge and enthusiasm about the local breweries, his dedication to the people behind the breweries and his love of Boston was beautiful and refreshing. Bill could answer all of our questions, get us through town avoiding the St. Paddy's traffic and provide history of the area. THE BEST CITY BREW TOUR I HAVE EVER TAKEN!!! Very knowledgeable, informative, humorous... it was clear that the entire van full of tourists really enjoyed the day. The breweries were excellent! Chase Gerold- legendary. Had such a good time, learned so much, and tasted so good. I've never felt more productive drinking and learning at some of Boston's coolest breweries. Consider Boston traffic into the mix as far as the timing of your tour. It wasn't too bad and Chase reacted quickly with dinner reservations and passed the time with some interesting history/processes. We'll be back! This tour popped up in google searching for something to do while in Boston for the weekend and I'm so glad it did. To be honest, I'm not much of a beer drinker but the person I was traveling with loves it so I went along for the ride. We did the five hour original tour and our tour guide Mark was incredible. He made for a fun, inviting atmosphere and was an absolute wealth of beer history and information. We went to Samuel Adams, a large brewery and received a formal tour and tasting in a large group which was great. From there we went to Chelsea Station for a delicious lunch and beer pairing. Our next stop was Slumbrew, a small brewery with a fascinating history. Our final stop was Down the Road Brewery, a place with a great atmosphere and fun experimental flavors! This was a fantastic way to spend a day and I would HIGHLY recommend to anyone, even if you aren't a big beer drinker. read more

This was so much fun! As soon as we planned our trip to Boston, the first thing my friend said was that she NEEDED to visit the Samuel Adams brewery. I've been learning about beers so I was all in. But, why just visit one? I went online and found this company that does brewery tours. The tour takes you to 3-4 breweries (depending on the day), and includes lunch. Day of the tour, we got the meeting place. Andy, our tour guide, gave about 20 minutes for everyone to show up, and off we went. He starts by welcoming you and making everyone introduce ourselves and say a little about us. This is because (as he put it), we will be drinking the day together and even if only for a day become friends. He also asked what type of beers we like or dislike, that way he can guide us in the tastings or challenge us to try new things. While we're in the van, Andy gave us a little info of the breweries we would visit, also gave us a little history lesson on beer and even Boston. He would make this interactive, asking us questions, making us think, and would always have a funny comment or anecdote for us. Tour is about 6 hours (from meeting point and back) and when it's time to go you can't believe they day has ended. Time does fly when you're having fun! As I said, Sam Adams was a must and it was the first brewery we visited. We got the whole tour, and ended with the tasting. Second brewery was Downeast. They make ciders here. I don't usually like ciders, I find them very sweet but these I really liked. Third brewery, and my favorite, was Nightshift. They have so many different craft beers, including my favorite of the day "Maracuya" (sour beer). We also had lunch at Meadhall, which included a sample of the restaurant's menu: The most delicious meatloaf you'll ever have (I know, I don't usually like meatloaf and I want more of this one) Chicken Wings Amazing French Fries Hummus with pita bread Salad All this, plus one beer. Anything on the menu under $7. They allowed me to taste some before I decided on a Founder's chocolate chili stout. We also got to go down to where they keep all the kegs, got a little explanation on how they keep their beers on tap and rotation. So many on tap, it must be heaven for true beer lovers. Yes, you can visit some of these breweries on your own but, it's so easy to have someone else drive for you, plan for you, and meet new people in the process. I had a great time in this tour and recommend it to anyone visiting Boston. read more

June 3rd we were picked up by Derek in the City Brew Tours van! What a night!!! Derek was our guide, extraordinaire... With fun and fascinating detail, we toured backstage to a couple microbreweries followed by generous beer tastings. We experienced sours. Ales, and lagers. With each educated tasting, a story or fun little detail would be shared. Truly, the evening was robust with so much laughter, learning and a super fun tour of the city. Derek is a sophisticated, highly certified and educated guide... he made the night remarkable. Derek drove us seamlessly through back streets and brew lots. He was absolutely entertaining and kept us laughing and the night rolling. This tour was a top shelf tour for us as we recall it now, almost a month later... as that super fun and delicious evening in Boston! We toured Boston for days and we believe this was definitely one of our top rated tours we enjoyed, thanks to the depth knowledge and huge entertainment factor Derek brought and the delicious and generous beer tastings throughout the night. read more

The hubs and I went on a tour this past September and it was worth every penny! What beer lover wouldn't enjoy getting to enjoy a variety of great brews while getting driven around by a super cool DD who is both knowledgable and funny? Since they offer a few different tours we might have to do another tour next time we're in town! All the stops had different aspects about beer - from how it's made to how it's served in bars. Not one beer tasted like another, so now I know more about what I like or don't like and why. Lunch at Meadhall was a bonus. The food was delicious and definitely needed as a buffer to all the tasting! I don't want to get into much more detail than this so as not to spoil a tour for anyone. But if you're and adult looking for something other than the typical touristy tours this is highly recommended! read more
