Had a 1937 Hudson "restored" here. The bodywork was shoddy - the paint is already cracked and peeling a couple years later. The window wipers never worked, the windows didn't roll down. I had to get the engine moved back and the driveshaft shortened because the fan they installed was too small and the car kept overheating. They charged me triple what they originally quoted me. I live in the Hockley/Navasota area and have a 1966 Ford F-250 4WD Flatbed truck I wanted to get restored. I had called several restoration businesses and was told by all of them they were too busy to work on my truck. Then one day I was driving down Becker Road and I saw the City Classic Cars shop. When I called the office a very nice lady named Matilda answered the phone. I explained what I wanted to have done and asked her if they did that kind of work. She said absolutely and they would be honored to take a look at my truck. We made an appointment to bring the truck to their shop. When I arrived at the shop on the day of the appointment I was met by Mr. Sabra Johnson himself. He introduced us to his wife Matilda who took us on a tour of the facility. They have a state of the art facility including a paint booth, upholstery area, body shop, engine work area and much more. They are able to do anything needed in a restoration process in-house. We were then introduced to Carol. She was pleasant and seemed very knowledgeable about all aspects of the restoration process. We have just begun the process and are very excited to watch our truck be turned into something we can be very proud to own. read more

I want everyone to be aware about the activities taking place at City Classic Cars. In a nutshell- the owner is a lying CONMAN. They real you in by making promises they never intend to keep, dazzle you with famous clients they have worked with and make you feel like you are placing your vehicle in trustworthy hands- but this couldn't be further from the truth. They do not send pictures of work as it's progressing, as stated in their contract, they do NOT allow you access to your vehicle any time you go up there, they schedule meetings with you and do not bother to show up or cancel- making you wait for hours on end for a meeting that never takes place, they overstate the hours of work done for each area of they vehicle they "work" on and they purchase parts your vehicle doesn't even need yet at that stage in the build. They generate invoices that are intended to document the consumption of most recent progression payment you've made, which show the time and materials used. I received 3 invoices, all of which have been changed up to bill me for different parts and materials, when the invoice is supposed to be a living document that is updated as work is completed and parts are needed (this is absolutely not the case). The parts I was billed for were never put on my truck, nor was my truck even ready for any of them- they just decided to charge me for $17,000 of parts out of the $61,850 in progression payments that I made. As an example- I was billed for $4370 to remove the bed liner and prime for paint.... All they did was prime OVER the bed liner in my truck. Another example of falsifying invoices is to bill a large chunk of money for "continued body work". Folks- I did not take my truck to City Classic Cars in a state of needing a full restoration- I had $20,000 of work done prior to taking it to them. The work needed was minimal- most of it was the bed needing restoration (removal of bed liner and primed for paint). When I had finally had enough of the run-around, I had to tell the "General Manager" that I would bring another progression payment up there in order to get her to agree to meet with me face to face and to see my truck that they claimed was "ready for paint".... I have a recording of her stating that they would cease work on my truck as it stands because they would not proceed with any work without that progression payment. Upon my written notice that my project was done and I wanted to pick it up- they THEN claim to have done more work, so they could eat up the remaining $3,000 I had left from my last payment. My truck is in worse shape then when I dropped it off to them and I am missing many of the parts I purchased and provided them. It isn't about the amount of money I paid- it is the level of unprofessionalism this company operates with and the LACK of work actually done to my vehicle for what I paid. This place is totally unprofessional, they are liars and they steal your money. My husband initially left his 1976 Buick for restoration stating his max was 40k. Hu purchased a custom engine, the dash, the seats to be recovered and many other parts. The owner lied, could not provide an estimate for how much it would cost to restore and kept giving excuses, could not be reached most of the time and his helper was very rude and unprofessional. After much disappointment with the service, husband called and told them he wanted to pick up the vehicle. He was told it would be 15k for storage because this project had been since Oct 2019 until Oct 2022 and the fine print on the contract stated if project was not completed by them, it would cost 45 a day from beginning for storage cost. He attempted to work with them, and they continued to rape him financially until Jan 2023 he called on a Monday and told owner he would pay the storage fee, just have vehicle and all his purchased items ready to be picked on Wednesday. Hubby arrived Wednesday to his car completely dismantled and laying on the ground. Owner smirkingly stated he was going to need more than a tow truck to take his vehicle and parts. A worker told husband that owner and pulled all workers off their jobs and put them on his vehicle to take it apart on that Tuesday. Essentially owner was forcing husband to leave vehicle and allow them to keep raping him of his money. Owner told him it would be an additional 40k to have vehicle completed, mind you that at the beginning he said he could not give a price to complete vehicle. This was a vey heave burden on husband because that vehicle was a dream of his from his early years and he thought it was finally coming to fruition, only to be used and abused by this establishment. Forgot to state owner is always on facebook having bible study. Hmmm. Don't patronize this business. Husband died in November 2023 and never had his dream car finished and these people kept his vehicle, all his parts, and all his money. Shame on them and God does not sleep. read more

I wasn't going to leave a review but hopefully my experience helps someone from making the same mistake I made in trusting this place. I dropped off my 1964 Impala in Feb 2022 for an engine rebuild. I was given an estimate of 7k and was told it would take 2 weeks to complete the job, I have both in writing. Once I paid them a deposit of 5k, they were impossible to get a hold of. They have 2 locations, but the same lady answers the phone for both and the only answers she ever had was that she will find out and could never give me a straight answer. Six months pass and they call me and tell me my car is ready, and that I owe an additional $6,700. I questioned several different things along the way and never got an answer to anything. Needless to say, I was completely shocked. Had they told me 12k instead of 7k, I would have taken my business elsewhere. When I questioned the total, my project manager Carol, just got irritated and accused me of having "extreme budget issues," also in writing. To make matters worse, they release the vehicle to me with a faulty fuel pump and leaking radiator. When I asked why didn't they bring that to my attention to be replaced, they mentioned my so called "extreme budget issues." If that wasn't bad enough, the car was leaking transmission fluid, oil, coolant, and gas.They said they could take a look at the repairs but it would take several months to get me back in. My project manager completely ignored my calls/texts and the lady that answers the phones only ever says she'll see what she can do. I will take my car elsewhere to be fixed. City Classic Cars has completely and utterly abused their rights as an automotive shop. I simply went to them to diagnose my 1986 Chrysler New Yorker 5th Avenue, and they would took 5 days before they could look at my car, then it took them another week to be able to try and work out arrangements to get my car fixed. They would not do the repairs because I did not want them to do EVERYTHING that they diagnosed the car for. Finally they referred me to another mechanic, who was going to pick up the car from them. They made a big deal about picking up the car in a trailer versus paying a tow truck driver to come pick up the vehicle. They gave me until 4pm that day to have my car removed, or they would start charging storage fees. **I do have all the email and phone calls on record** After finding the new mechanic to work on my car, I called the business back and told them I would have a tow truck driver there within an hour, so they don't have to worry about charging me the storage fees. My husband left a bad review with the BBB, and not even an hour later I got a phone call from the owner of the business. He was furious that I left a bad review and said since I want to leave a bad review, then he will backdate the storage fees and will send me the new invoice, and that if I want my car back, the tow truck driver better have cash. They sent me an invoice for 315 dollars for storage fees, PLUS an addition 7 dollars for parts, that was not on the original invoice. After getting the Sherrif's department involved, and a lot of back and forth, we had no choice but to settle for $150 to get my car back, and prevent actual storage fees. My husband then posted on Google Reviews to warn others of this crooked business, and the owner posts our personal information as a response. Giving out my full name, how we tried to get a loan, and way too much detail about the situation. It is incredibly disrespectful, unprofessional, and absolutely immature of a business to abuse their power and claim whatever price they want last minute, in retailiation to a negative review. They told me they would not charge any storage fees, and I have all of this confirmed via phone calls and email, then they go against that because they got their feelings hurt. I warn all of you to please stay away from this place. The moment that things do not go their way, you will have to fight to keep what you have. If you are looking for a "detail oriented" shop to do work on your Classic Car, STAY AS FAR AWAY from this place as possible. Their work was finally completed but far from the "total satisfaction" as promised. I was just glad to get my car back from these folks in decent condition. (My 1967 Camaro Convertible was "Shipped" to my home on a wrecker, (It was Filthy- Dirty) The General Manager did NOT want ME back in their shop... I went in for a "Vintage Air" air conditioning system to be installed and a tune up with the addition of some chrome parts to the motor. 4 weeks later, they "rushed" my car back and the A/C was not completed and didn't work correctly (over 4000 dollars for that)... there were a few other "Details" that were obviously wrong and/or missing as well, but totally denied by the GM. Upon returning the car for completion, the owner (an apparently nice guy) informed me of his embarrassment and said that the technician, who did the work, had been fired and they would make me "Totally Happy". There were several items discussed but I simply wanted my car fixed under warranty. One week later I was told by the "General Manager" that they would try and get me "on the schedule" for the next week and that "We are not fast and we are not cheap"... which turned out to be an UNDERSTATEMENT. It is my opinion that these folks (especially the GM) are winging it and that the quality of their employee/technician is less than what they proclaim. Missing Parts, Poor Attention to Detail and Lack of Fulfillment of Promised Work leads me to my conclusion of a ONE STAR rating... Less if it were possible. The sign in the office states; "Pray Without Ceasing" ... which is a great motto if you are a client of this company... Initially I was taken in and convinced by the general manager, Carol was her name, of the many changes that could and would be done to my 63 Impala after a small engine fire. Very smooth about the positive upgrades and condition I would recieve upon return to me. With the overhead and celebrity status such as Earl Campbell you would believe this to be a very reputable shop. Still today I believe they are other than the fact these people Did my vehicle wrong! The work in question was replacement of the Hood, complete wiring harness, starter, alternator,air breather and carburetor. In e-mails back and forth the Owner tells me even after being paid upfront for everything he has to replace, nope, he cant replace the hood due to alignment issues. So he has the original hood repaired, In my opinion and I have photos to support my statement, The work done on my vehicle was the poorest Ive ever seen and Iam a car enthusiast. I believe some work was in retaliation for my rushing the shop after 5-6 months and more so leading up to 10 months of completion. I have photos of my perfectly painted dash chipped and scratched in several locations. Steering column missing the tachometer and paint chipped/ scratched. Wires under dash, in trunk and under trunk not tucked away from an obvious reveal. Hood Lip and Hood Chevy emblem both scratched on chrome from R/I. You could say (well he's just bitter) No, I cant believe these people after all the positive statements used in their website introduction page, would intentionally return my vehicle with overspray all over it, carpet dirty and razor slashes on it, wires hanging, missing parts and parts not working, head Lights, starter overheating. My son and I are working on a project car that needed some minor body work, radiator core support and lower cross member replacement, went to visit the shop and spoke to Carol, discussed the project, viewed pictures of the car and the work we wanted done. Carol stated no problem, took my name and phone number and made an appointment that was 8 weeks out because they were so busy. Fast forward....called two weeks out and confirmed appointment w/Carol, all good. Loaded my car on the trailer and arrived at the shop 9 AM Monday morning and excited about getting on with the project, yeah right! Carol greeted me outside, quickly confused me with someone else, asked if I had an appointment, looked at my car and work required, took me to the office and she disappeared into the back for 5 minutes and came back and told me that they couldn't (wouldn't) do the work. Pure BS! Be careful of the discussions you have and the commitments they make and think twice about using this group to work on your projects. read more

iv had my car worked on there and ill tell you that they don't know what they are doing, I had my car misfire running rough and not running right and they recommended me to buy a new carburetor, so I ok the repairs and when I got there they told me I had to pay 600 for the carb and installation, then 3 days later I get a call that I needed to pay extra 400.00 and my car was still running the same. so I took it to another shop and told me that the valves were loose causing to run rough, so the other shop fixed it for less that 100.00 and made it run great, other shop told me that the old carburetor was still good. so I pretty much got ripped off 1000.00 and not able to fix it right. this shop. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CLASSIC CAR THERE, THEY DONT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING. read more
