Decaf latte & homemade caramel apple pie... best apple pie I've ever had!

This place is such a gem! Locally and black-owned small business in the city of Compton offering high quality coffee drinks and homemade baked goods! There is also a bbq joint on site (City BBQ). Parking is available on the street and in a private parking lot at the end of the alley behind the building off Mayo. Super friendly owners and staff and high quality food and drinks! This business is always hosting community events and getting involved at a local level, so be sure to follow their socials too!

There's a lot I want to say about this spot but I'm a try and keep it short lol…read more My first time visiting was this past Sunday, May 31st. I had my whole day planned out with a list of events to attend but first I wanted to stop by Patria and grab some coffee to start my morning off. Located in a parking lot next to Wilson Park on Compton Blvd and Alameda Street you'll find this nice cut lawn in front of this small white building, Patria Coffee Roaster. Depending on your time of arrival, the parking lot can be full but it's cool cuz there's also street parking available. I was able to park in the lot. After walking in I was welcomed and greeted with positive energy from 2 young ladies who I forgot their names but we'll just call them "A" and "C" lol. A guy to my right was sitting next to the window working on his laptop. And two others against the wall sipping their coffees and doing whatever on their phones. A customer was at the register ordering while another customer walked in to stand in line behind me. I let her go in front of me while I took pics and recorded footage. I like the atmosphere and space a lot. It has a very nice decor. Artwork, pictures and murals with history displayed along the walls. Grab and cold drinks available for purchase. Nice music playing that wasn't too loud but just right to complement a chill coffee shop vibe. "A" was friendly and patient as shared with her this was my first visit. As I browsed thru the coffee menu before making my selection I noticed more costumes coming in. I ordered a medium sized Americano which is $3.75 but I requested to add some hazelnut creamer as well as some almond milk which totaled out to $4.75 which was quite exceptional to me. Giving the location, the quality of service and the quality of the coffee. Not to mention to overall experience. I even thru in a $1 tip. I support the business and love the space. It feels welcoming and safe. The restroom was clean. They also have many different events held there. If you're ever in the area definitely pull up and check em' out. It's black owned as well. I actually ended up sitting there in the lot sipping my coffee while working on my video to post on social media. The coffee was good and tasteful. Didn't need any sugar. Great vibes and great coffee. You can even go the park right next door and get your steps in or just chill. I definitely recommend coming here. If you're passing thru the area or coming to the city, do yourself a favor and pull up. Check em' out. Grab you a coffee or something. Prices are reasonable and the community is welcoming to all individuals.

While driving home, we noticed this coffee shop and I'm so happy we decided to stop by!…read more Coffee 8/10 We ordered an iced cafe de olla and a quad Ibarra mex mocha. Both were soo flavorful. I will say, the cafe de olla is very spice forward. I taste a lot of cloves and star anise. A bit different than others I've had but I really liked it. The mex mocha was smooth and rich. I did see that their slushies are highly rated and now that it's getting hot, we'll def be back to try them! Food 10/10 They don't have food items on their menu but there are baked goods! We ordered a cream croissant looking muffin and a chocolate chip cookie. Both were warmed up and were absolutely delicious. Vibes/Ambiance : 10/10 We came on a Friday morning and it wasn't too busy. There were people working there as they have free wifi and outlets. The decor and vibe is cute! They have art on the walls, pictures, plants, community flyers/events, and statements that make you feel safe and at home. The staff is so friendly and welcoming too! There is a little parking lot right next to the shop and we didn't find it hard to find a spot. There is a park next door so I can imagine on the weekends, parking might be a bit tricker. Loved that we found a local gem like Patria and will def be back!

All the times I've been next door at Dollar Tree and even the female owned Nostalgia Gorditas two doors down, I never paid attention to Padekwa. It could be the name. My friend had me at Black owned/Lakewood! Nothing fancy about the sign or outside but the inside is roomie and looks like a great spot to hang out for sips, sweet treats, food & entertainment. The owner's mother son-in-law and another young man were all very friendly. We tried a Bananas Foster Latte, Cookie Crumble Smoothie and a brownie. We enjoyed everything and the prices were lower than similar places in the area. I was advised Padekwa is celebrating their 2-year anniversary this weekend. Gumbo, brunch & R&B are on the agenda. Other events are scheduled fletch month. Can't wait to spread the word about this Black, females owned business! Congratulations on two years!

You can actually taste the matcha without it being overwhelming, and the cold foam adds a great finishing touch. At $8 each, the portion size and quality feel worth the price. Service was fast and efficient: order at the front window, pick up at the back. My drinks were ready in about 2-3 minutes. I also appreciate that this is a Mexican-owned business, it's great to see local entrepreneurs creating something this high quality. The location fits perfectly with the concept, and I'll definitely be coming back.

They also don't serve breakfast on-site since they partner with a taco spot across the way, and that doesn't open until 10 a.m., so options were very limited at that time. The drink itself was just okay--I've had it before and expected a bit more since it's one of their popular items. I ordered a cold drink, and it was average, about a 3 out of 5. My best friend ordered a hot drink and enjoyed hers more than I did mine. As for the pan dulce, one felt a bit stale, so I chose another based on texture alone, and that one was noticeably fresher. Overall, I'd rate the experience a 3 out of 5 due to the limited morning options and inconsistency in freshness, though the staff and drinks weren't bad--just not outstanding this visit.
