I can't say enough great things about Matt! He is amazing! His knowledge about locks is second to none. We live in a 1920's NY style building with ancient door locks and he's been able to refurbish them or, if the handle doesn't quite work any longer, then replace it with a more modern one. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. Over a month ago I went in to order a new key fob.they took all my car info,make,model year etc..told me it would be in in a week,they would call. A week and a half later,I called them. They said it was in,but he had to call me back later as he was busy. Never got the call.2 days later I called again..was told it would be in by Friday. No call.I called them Monday. I was rudely told to call back the next week.the next week when I called I was told it was never ordered because they forgot to include my make,model and year. They promised it would be in,again,on Friday. No apologies, no nothing. Last week when I called again, I was told to call back Monday. That is today, so I went in instead of calling. I was told to call back Wednesday.I was done.asked for my deposit back.He tossed a $50 bill on the counter and walked away. I picked up the $50,said thank you and left. No apologies. They were extremely rude, unprofessional,and cocky. Go somewhere that appreciates your business. There are better locksmiths in WR. Rude! Poor customer service! I paid them and trusted they would give me a receipt for proof of service. When I had to call the store 4 times to ask for the receipt, T__ was extremely rude and crotchety. He started yelling at me and I was asking him to lower his voice. He hung up on me and I called back asking for his bosses phone number and he said, "I'm not giving it to YOU!" Some men can be so nasty and disrespectful to women. read more

Well here (below) is my ORIGINAL review sans "promotional content", glad to see that it bothered the jerks at City Lock so much that they campaigned to get it removed (bunch of losers). ====Original Review==================== So I needed a key cut for my 2004 lexus RX (just the key not the remote): First Try: They guy who does it is out today, come back Monday *Second Try: I come back Monday, guy is out again. The old man (owner?) seems mad he's not there, says he's going to "fire him" because he's never there. Third Try: I call, guy is there, I go in with my key, wait because he's working in the back on a lock. Guy comes back, machine needs to be "re-set" it will take 20 minutes. I am leaving for NY that day (Easter) so I have to go. Fourth Try: I go in, everyone is there, they take MY BLANK and working key. Kid turns to me and this is what follows: Kid: "Its $50" Me: "OK" Kid: "Sometimes it does not work" Me: "Are you trying to tell me that if it does not work it will still cost me $50" Kid: "Sometimes the grooves in your key are worn". Me: "My key works just fine, its my blank, are you telling me that if you screw up my key it will still cost me $50?" Voice of a-hole likely Trump voter from the back: "Don't do it!" Me: "This is my fourth time trying to get this done with you guys, don't ever complain about Amazon, they are reliable". I have never used City Lock for locksmithing services. One of there drivers decided to start swearing at kids at a bus stop because he had to stop for a bus. I politely reached out to the company to be told a list of excuses as to why this was ok or it did not happen. Ray from City Lock went OVER AND ABOVE any locksmith EVER. I was a perfect stranger to Ray, when I called him because his name came up in a Google search. Not only did he answer his phone right away, he talked me through a problem I was having, and suggested where I could go to have the issue resolved. I did just what he suggested, and for $20.79, I had my problem fixed.( side bar- I was told by Brookline Locksmith on Harvard St. that the SAME EXACT ISSUE would be over $100)! He insulted me for leaving a bad review, I believe him to be same Mike that "Terry M" spoke of on 9/2/15 under "reviews not recommended". AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST!! This place is extremely unprofessional. A guy told me he could cut a car key with no problem once the key fob came in they we would call me, well no Call! I called for several days and finally after a week guy named joe(fake name?) answered, the key part came in, so I went there and all Hell broke out... Lol. Joe tried to put my new key together, I had to assist him, he was so unorganized and was shaking like a leaf, clearly didn't know what the Hell he was doing! and his words let me know he didn't give a damn! Like he was doing me a favor. The first guy that told me they could do the job no longer worked there, he quit according to joe, so I was stuck with joe. Joe's expressed he just came out of retirement, he was clearly frustrated that he had to actually do some work, basically bad mouthing the business, owner, co workers, etc. He was super rude an unprofessional! I left there with my key not working (of course I didn't pay) and in worst shape than when I got there. He started saying that he didn't care about my key and couldn't help me anyone and started yelling.! A very nasty old man! Should go back in retirement quickly. I called City Lock Company to ask for a quote on getting a blank transponder key of my property to be cut and programmed, and they quoted me $50. I had brought my own blank key to the shop and upon my arrival they said they required a second key to program my key and the quote went up to $120, for two working keys, which according to them is the manufacturer's requirement. I should have left the shop with three working keys for $120, instead they gave me back my original key, the blank key which I brought in now cut and programed and tried to charge me $60 more ($180 for all Three) for a third key which they claimed needed to be done in order to program my blank. 1. They quoted me price and then charged me something else 2. All the staff people in the store didn't have the decency to explain their actual prices 3. They used my own key and Charged me like they were providing me for one 4. They are a Rip off read more

Went here last year to try to get a box unlocked-a box that had been in my attic for who knows how many years. Anyway, even though the guy had to go through 2-3 rings of keys to unlock it, he eventually did and at a very good price. I take off a star for all the guys smelling like cigarettes. I have used CIty Lock for years - on multiple locations and rental units. Trustworthy, on time, and always do an excellent job. You cannot expect a locksmith to come and do work for nothing or next to nothing, and I don't expect that. I expect a quality job, and I expect to pay for it, and that is why I keep coming back to City Lock. Every issue i have had they have been able to address successfully and they use excellent quality products. Once they take care of a problem, I no longer have it, and it doesn't come back. Seems that when I try to use a Home Depot or Lowe's product, 2 years later, I need City Lock to come and drill me into the unit - because the cheap stuff fails. Recently had to have a guy come late at night, and he was terrific. Worth every penny. I recommend them to anyone who asks. read more

They tell me after they come out and do the work there is a $60 charge and that I should of asked and rather than them telling me about the charge before the come out in the first place? And then I ask the locksmith on site what the cost is going to be and he tell me he will know when he is done. Then I get hit with a bill that is significantly higher than I feel it should of been. I proceeded to call the main number to discuss and they continue to say it was my fault for not asking if there is a service charge, and tell me no one does free estimate on anything and then proceed to hang up on me? We needed the two deadbolts changed in a hurry on our new house, and City Locks came out within 90 minutes on a weeknight. The guy was super nice and helpful and the fee was $50 less than we'd been quoted by another locksmith even for a non-emergency appointment. Great, friendly service. read more

Avoid this business. Replaced a battery in my car key and within two weeks the car was saying low key battery. Brought it back and asked for a replacement and they refused. I have used them previously for other services. Customer service was never great but this is ridiculous. read more

I will never use this company. Today one of the drivers of their van was beeping and waving his arms at me as I took "too long" for him to cross 4 lanes of traffic. At the next intersection the driver of the van actually rolled down his window to get into it with me. He was very rude and condescending. It reflects very poorly on this company.
