UPDATE: Owner (Tim) reached out to rectify the problem and got me in to redo my color. They said I had to choose a different color because the one I had fades. I chose another color. Well, we noticed again, that the colors didn't match. She ended up having to find a different color that closely matched and used it to paint OVER the color on my toenails that she'd already painted on. I didn't like this particular encounter because she rushed through my service, especially once the color, AGAIN, didn't match. Nails are straight and there's still a difference in shades between my nails and toenails. I wished he had gotten a tech with more patience and more concern to take care of me, especially after having the experience I had beforehand. I'd never experienced this in like 17 years and I've been all over, to include overseas. I had high hopes after speaking with the owner but I guess the tech didn't share his enthusiasm to make things right. Original Review: Went in and asked for a regular mani/pedi. The whole time I was getting my pedicure, the tech was trying to upsell the gel manicure. She said, the regular polish would chip and they have the color match in gel. I guess this is the color match (see picture). I spent my money, wasted my time. All for this. I can't stand it. Only gave two stars because my pedicure was good with the exception of her using a drill on my toenails which was odd because it was regular polish but she didn't cut me so I left it alone. I come here only for pedicures, I appreciate that they take their time with the pedicures and it's not rushed and I also love that they provide red or white wine during your service. This is my second visit to City Nails. My first visit was 3 weeks ago with a friend. We booked with Kelsey but for the sake of time Tuan did my nails. I got dip w/tip single color. She did a great job on my nails, so I booked her for my hands and feet today. I wanted an ombré set on my nails and something a little more fancy than white on my toes. My gel deluxe pedicure was well done, she pays a lot of attention to detail and took great care of my feet. As my feet sat in paraffin wax, Tuan removed my previous dip set and put on and shaped my tips. She executed the ombré look I wanted perfectly with dip and gave me signature coffin shape I wanted! Due to tropical storm Olga many businesses across the city of New Orleans experienced a massive power shortage including City Nails & Spa. When I arrived at City Nails (Saturday, October 26 at 9:20am) the owner Tim explained to me they decided to close due to the power shortage. Regardless of the building being completely dark, Tim and his amazing and professional nail artists honored my morning appointment and did an excellent job (like always)! After having my daughters nails done elsewhere for an event, we were lucky to end up at City Nails to have them fixed. She had acrylic nails applied and they were lifting off the next day. I wasn't happy. City Nails took her immediately, fixed the problem and we were out of the door. Her nails looked great, she received a 10% student discount, and we were happy campers. They're located on Robert E. Lee, and there's parking in front and on the street that runs alongside the building. It's a small place, and it can get a little crowded on the weekends, but I think going on a weeknight would alleviate that issue. read more

I went into this place for the first time today. I came in for a full and a design. I showed the nail tech the design and she said she could do it but not exactly the same because they did not have the pink rhinestone. No problem. A gentleman began on my fill. He was clearly rushing but the set didn't appear that bad at first glance. I noticed that the middle fingers were more flat than the other and he did not shape all of the nails the same. I asked him about it and he told me not to worry he would fix it. In any case, he starts on the polish and the colors we're fine. But things went all the way left with the design. Another tech attempted the design and botched it. I showed them the picture when I arrived and she said she could do it! Just without the rhinestone. After she eff'ed up the design she said she had a better design in mind. She did it and it was amateur at best. I was confused as to why she chose that design considering it looked nothing like what o asked for. I also asked for a matte topcoat, she said that it would be ugly and what she did was more beautiful! Lol. At that point I was so disheartened, I paid and left. read more

I have become addicted to dip manicures as part of my self care routine and routinely get them about every three weeks for the last few years. Needless to say, I know a thing or two about high quality work and admittedly have become quite picky having high expectations. It usually takes me a while to find a place that I trust. Unfortunately COVID closed my regular nail salon spot that I had become quite happy with so I had to start the search all over again. It took trialing multiple places but a friend pointed me in the direction of City Nails and it is my new go to place! As far as salons go, they take appointments, are usually prompt to get me in on time, are efficient so I get in and out in a reasonable time and take COVID precautions. Their technicians are very skilled and I think the prices are very reasonable for the quality of their work. Jeni is my go to nail artist. She is incredible! She is friendly, has quickly learned my preferences and preferred nails shape, and she is great at nail art. See pictures below. They offer vast color selections in both gel manicures and dip manicures. They also have a range of pedicures from regular spa pedicures to delux pedicures with callous removal and paraffin wax. They offer beverages during your service. The salon is a little older but decently kept. There is decent parking in an adjacent strip mall parking lot. I can appreciate a place that actually sticks to the scheduled appointment times. I walked straight into the salon today and was seated at a pedi chair immediately. The salon had a nice variety of polishes to choose from as well. I'm more of a neutrals girl myself, and they even had a large selection of those. The pedicure itself was very relaxing. They offered complimentary beverages ranging from wine, water, or soda. My nail technician also did a great job on my manicure. My only complaint is that after my pedicure a different technician applied the polish to my toes and was just a bit messy. Before I left the salon I had to request a quick clean up. They obliged and didn't seem overly inconvenienced by my request. Unfortunately, the clean up resulted in a smudged, clumped polish since the polish was only partially dry. Rather than starting anew on the one toe, they simply left the polish in its half dry, half wet, smudged state and called it good. So, I left with relaxed feet and legs, great SNS manicure, and subpar polished toes--hence the three stars. If I'm leaving a salon, my expectation is the polish looks professional and not like I did them myself. In conclusion, I'm sure I'll go back and give them another try. I got a good pedicure here a couple of weeks ago. After relaxing on the massage chair and getting my toes done, I stupidly messed up a couple of the toes getting in the car. I ran back in like a little kid and asked if they could fix it for me and they did. I was very grateful. Terrible Service !!! The staff is rude and the work is subpar. I've been going here for a while and every time I go they up the price with frivolous charges. I've only continued to go because it was so close to my school, but the treatment isn't worth it anymore. They are unprofessional and there are only about two good nail techs. So god forbid you get a bad one like I did. The application I received was so messy and looked like something of a third grader. I recommend going to Fashion Nails in Metairie instead. read more

I love, love, love how the staff here treated me. This was my very first time get my nails done. The staff took like 15 minutes to thoroughly explain what everything was. I went here for my birthday and they serviced me so good. When I got my feet done, they massaged and gave it numerous treatment. The lady wasn't too quiet or too talkative and I enjoyed it. I went with their staff recommendation to get fake nails and it was SO BEAUTIFUL. I left feeling great! +1 for the queer/trans friendly staff ! On the other hand I will say they are still open to walk-ins. The service is exceptional through both methods, which I experienced. Nail Technicians. The group of technicians in this location specializes in communication and care. They act you what you need as well as make suggestions if they notice any issues with your toes, nails, shapes and etc. They are also extremely friendly just to hold a conversation with. They truly take care of you and get you in and out all while giving you the proper care. Cleanliness: Cleanliness is very important to me when it comes to my nail spa. Things to keep in mind about this location is the fact many of the items used on you is thrown away after each use and other equipment are sterilized individually and packaged for usage on each client. Their facility is neat and clean so you won't feel uncomfortable. The location is small but definitely gets the job done. Service: On my most recent visit I tried the Deluxe Pedicure, which was definitely a great choice. This is definitely so for those individuals who don't get regular pedicures or just looking for extra relaxation. With this specific treatment you get extended feet and leg massage. It was truly divine and lasted in totality of about 10 minutes just in the massage portion. This pedicure also includes a hot paraffin treatment that totally put me in some maximum relaxation. These are all things in addition to your normal pedicure treatment items. This specific pedicure was $35 and I find it to be well worth it. Parking. In front the location it's only about 5 parking spots, but it's connected to a location with a few businesses so parking is available around front of the complex facilities.
