Years later and still makes an absolutely mean vegetarian BBQ bowl! Greens are always fresh. Must try even if not vegetarian. Place is just how it was, still friendly and fun!

Welcoming vibe, with delicious food and kind servers. Happy hour pricing available and reasonable. The barbacoa fries were vegetarian and the best I've ever had. They may have even been vegan. Not sure. Still sooooooo good. Great location, near museums. Great atmosphere.

My favorite Denver destination for all the years.

My absolute favorite restaurant in Denver. We even came here for our post elopement dinner. If you have any dietary restrictions, this place is perfect. Most delicious variety of veggie options, with wonderful staff, and eclectic decor. Vibes for days.

For anyone looking for a fantastic brunch, vegetarian, or vegan meal, this is the place for you! Everything here is delicious, and I have never seen so many creative vegan options on one menu before. Always busy because the food is truly that good. The service was fun and friendly, and this is a must for anytime you're in Downtown Denver.

Food was delicious. I ordered their freshly in-house made vegan burger with avocado, and it was honestly the best vegan burger I've ever had. The staff was friendly and efficient, and the restaurant itself is colorful with a really cool vibe. The only issue I had was with the messaging inside the restaurant. There's a big rainbow banner at the front that says 'Everyone is welcome here,' yet above the bar there was a chalkboard with the words, 'FUCK ICE.' That felt contradictory to me. ICE agents are American citizens who go to work every day like the rest of us, often putting their lives on the line. Seeing that message came across as disappointing and, in my view, hypocritical!

City O' City lands on my Top 5 of All-Time for glutenous vegan food. The good: -Buffalo seitan wings were great! Great flavor and just the right amount of crispiness. -Churrasco cheesesteak sandwich was phenomenal. Happy to see that the cheese wasn't just melted Daiya but a great vegan version of cheese whiz. Highly recommended! -Chicken (cauliflower) & waffles was a great dish on its own, but I'm glad we shared it. This dish is overall sweet because it's all sitting in syrup, so it was nice to balance it out with the cheesesteak. -Overall portion size to price was good. The not so good: -Mac & cheese is pretty bland and overall forgettable. This was ordered as the accompanying side to the cheesesteak sandwich. Would absolutely come back!

We came in to the restaurant on a Wednesday morning with a group of 10 people. We ordered a BBQ Seitan Bowl, Japanese Katsu Curry, and Chickn & Waffles. I LOVED the chicken and waffles. I think that the flavors balanced super well, but the syrup was a little sweet at the end. I was not the biggest fan of the BBQ seitan bowl, but my bf was. It was flavored well, but I felt that the BBQ seitan itself was too sweet. My bf enjoyed all the dishes. They had variety of texture, flavor, and freshness. The dishes were extremely balanced. Would recommend only ordering 1 entree and 1 app to split between two people, the portion sizes are big. The staff served us wonderfully. Our hostess was welcoming, accommodating and had great recommendations. I also got a mocha raspberry coffee which was pretty good. Next time I come here, I'd love to try the cheese steak sandwich!

With this menu, how can you decide?! It was difficult as I wanted to try everything, perhaps in due time. Our server was very helpful. We landed on the fried chicken (cauliflower) & waffles + bacon. Highly recommend! I have never had a good chicken and waffle. I've been vegan 9 years and either the waffle is good, but not the chicken or the chicken is good and not the waffles but this time everything was good!! I mustn't forget the seitan a.k.a. chicken wings with buffalo sauce was delightful and also highly recommended . Another must try, the cheese steak sandwich. Vegan meat & vegan cheese alll very tasty, full flavor & spices. However, I did not like the mac & cheese. It lacked flavor and could've used thickness, as it was a runny and all the cheese is at the bottom of the cup and/or salt and/or spice. The restaurant is fun and casual with lots of fun decor, and a fun part of town. Also have a a coffee barista stand bar at the entrance + booze alcohol bar. There's desserts too, which were very tempting. We left satisfied and eager to come back again!

This is our must have spot when we are in Denver. Most times we go there as soon as so get in town. Seitan wings and poutine are our favorite picks. They are so inclusive in so many ways. They're also open until 10pm. Definitely a must try!

I was thrilled to find a fully vegan restaurant near my hotel on my last visit to Denver. Unfortunately the food was hit or miss. The pizza and Brussels sprouts were the stand out stars, by far. The cheesesteak was incredibly salty, as were the mushroom tacos, and the fried raviolis were more like samosas than ravioli (more bread-like than pasta). The staff were attentive and the food came out fast. The bathrooms needed a seriousI would go back for their pizza, but skip the salt bombs.

We made a reservation online for a large group of 8. They were nice and I was able to add another person when I called. We did still have to wait a little bite for our reservation on Friday at 8pm. We found a street parking around the corner and walked a little to the restaurant. We were seated outside which was nice on a warm evening. Waiter was nice, a little awkward, but attentive and was able to do separate checks for everyone which was really nice. The menu has a variety of vegetarian and vegan options. I ordered the city, o' burger. It was an average veggie burger. Nothing super special? The fries were good. I thought the price was very fair ~$16. Overall a good option for vegetarian and vegan options.

One of the best vegan restaurants I've ever been to. From the cool ambience to the art (see my hat!) to the great waitstaff to the awesome food, I can't say enough about this place. I had the best Philly cheesesteak ever! Did I mention the house made condiments?!?!

This place was so good that my friend and I came back for a second time on our 3 day trip. The service was excellent and the place is very chill, not crowded during the week. I would recommend: Chicken and waffles Buffalo pizza Tumeric chai The Caesar Salad and tomato soup were also really good.

Upon doing so, you notice they've added two unusual changes -- a 2% "restaurant impact fee" and a 1% "kitchen staffing fee." We were told that the fee helps pay the kitchen staff because the wait staff doesn't share tips with them. We asked to have it removed and were told it cannot be removed. This is a problem based on principle and nothing else. There are costs associated with running a business. Pay your employees properly so that these fees don't need to be added. Be honest about it -- increase the cost of menu items if necessary -- but don't add HIDDEN fees! It makes you look slimy and dishonest. At the very least, remove the fees when your customers don't want to pay them. This really pales our opinion of this place. It's irritating and embarrassing for everyone, including the wait staff who have to explain the fees to the patrons, and in this case, receive a smaller tip.

Location (4 stars) This restaurant is downtown near the convention center. parking is pricy if you valet park at the hotel. Last year it was around $40. Parking in the lot across the street for $25 dollars Easter Sunday. If you use a walker, I would not recommend the parking lot across the street. Food (3 Stars) The Thanksgiving buffet is the best one. I would rate that buffet a (4). The Christmas and Easter buffet are pretty low key. There is a carving station (ham and prime rib). There is an omelet station. Dessert bar is decorative. Cheesecake was delicious. The warming station with potatoes, sausage etc. leaves much to be desired. The charcuterie station is sparse. They offer unlimited mimosas for an additional $25. Service (5 stars) Staff are extremely friendly. Cleanliness (2 stars) My only complaint, I saw a tabletop being cleaned off with a rag used to clean the chairs and then under the table on the floor and on to the next tabletop. I'm just a little picky about that. Especially since folks these days go commando and wear short attire, and you know their parts are on the chair and now spread to tabletops. Wiping up the crumbs off the floor with same rag simply through me over the edge. Atmosphere (4 stars) Spacious uncrowded environment. Nice decor. Bright with large windows.

I saw Former Saint on CBS News, and the menu and food looked incredible. In particular, that white chocolate blueberry cheesecake was something I know my hubby would look forward to all week! I loved the idea of local food and fresh homemade dishes. Sounds healthy, after a week of potential over-indulgence at other restaurant week venues. An additional bonus was that it is located right near the Denver Convention Center and the Performing Arts Center. This has become a dry spot for fine dining, with even the choices on Larimer Square growing more thin, giving rise to the inability to get reservations at favorites like Tamayo and Rioja prior to a show. I go to performances frequently with friends, and despite my rule to avoid hotel restaurants (Former Saint is in the Hyatt Regency), I thought I'd scope out Former Saint as a place to take my friends before the next symphony or Children's Chorale or ballet or broadway performance. I must say, the jury is still out. Former Saint was a Jekyll and Hyde of courses. Parking was not difficult (Yay, maybe I can park here prior to my shows, if I grab a bite first). There is a large garage, and the promise of validation from the restaurant. The ambiance of the restaurant is typical hotel restaurant. Booths, tables, old and a bit drab. Except for the bar. Oh, my! The bar has this BEAUTIFUL copper creation above it, adding so much industrial character to the space! I was in awe looking at it, as it appeared to bring craft suds to the bartender's taps. I didn't ask how it worked, as it wasn't clear how the beer separation and dispensing worked, but it was a great centerpiece and spectacle for the place. I do wish I had investigated more about this architectural marvel, and will do so if I return. For restaurant week, my husband chose the Lobster Ravioli, Ribeye, and blueberry cheesecake (as predicted). I chose the Gotham salad, roasted chicken, and key lime tart. The lobster ravioli was nice; my husband was surprised that it was a toasted ravioli, but enjoyed it. My salad was full of beautiful greens, pears, walnuts, and feta. No scrimping here! The dressing was light and sweet/sour. The pears were a bit unripe and crisp, to the point that I was having trouble identifying exactly what fruit I was eating, but other than that, the salad was beautiful, healthy, and ample. My husband's ribeye steak was a nice cut, done to his liking. Slivered hash browns were underneath with a nice green chimichurri on top and some sliced Fresnos adding a welcome kick to the dish. My chicken was delightful. 1/2 chicken on the bone, seasoned nicely, and with a pan sauce. The breast was super-tender and delicious. It came atop cheesy grits, which was a yummy substitute for a mashed potato. I also was served side salad of curly lettuce and fennel. I probably didn't need more salad, but I was glad to have the healthy side on my plate. I will say that this salad was over-seasoned. The chicken and grits were great, but the salad too salty. My husband ordered a glass of J. Lohr Cabernet, which was a very nice find on the wine list, as far as a pairing for his ribeye. That said, the glass cost $30! A bit much, I might say. The real detractor, unfortunately, was dessert. The blueberry cheesecake looked nothing like the beautiful creamy white cheesecake accented throughout by purple blueberries, which I saw on the CBS News clip. My husband was served a very small solid purple slice, overcome with whipped cream dollops. This cheesecake had been uncovered in the fridge too long, with sort of a skin on it. My husband ate almost none of it. My key lime tart was similarly over-adorned with whipped cream, although I had some nice raspberries on top. The tart also seemed overexposed to the cool air, with the thickening of a skin on top. It was a very disappointing way to end a nice meal, and belied the healthy, homemade, craft theme. High points of this experience include the well-crafted and healthy entrees, the fact that we could see the convention center right outside our window (i.e., the location is perfect for pre-event or -theater), the $3.00 validated parking fee, and that beautiful copper tap system. Will the pros outweigh the cons? Will we be back with friends? Time will tell.
