YUM!! The Corner Beet is definitely going to be a regular haunt for me, I was truly impressed by this one. Stopped by with a friend this weekend and ordered the BLAT. As a bacon lover, this sandwich felt like home. I was really pleased they opt for a savory tofu as the protein option on this sandwich, as I prefer tofu to tempeh for all reasons. Each food item on their vegetarian and plant-forward menu comes with a side salad dressed in this incredible, light vinaigrette. I dream of that dressing. Maybe I was there on a bad day. This is a super cute and cozy place, with nice outdoor tables as well as a beautiful indoor environment, with lots of veggie/vegan options. I had the Thai peanut salad, which was incredibly bland. The sauce/dressing was scanty and barely tasted like anything -- I didn't taste peanuts really and definitely no hint of curry/spice like I expected. There was a section of sliced jalapeno but I didn't want to eat raw jalapeno with my salad, I wanted a zestier dressing. The "crispy" tofu was tofu that was completely fried so it had a texture like a crunchy zwiebach cracker/rusk -- I had been envisioning something with some softness and a chewy exterior. My beverage was a lavender Palmer that was a pint jar of lemonade with some lavender tea on top. For those two items it was $27. I have some oral allergy issues and after eating, I had a "burned" mouth feeling like I get from tahini, walnut or eggplant. I don't think any of these ingredients would have been in the salad, but I do not have an issue with peanuts (eat them all the time). I called to ask if the dressing had tahini in it and was told no, but it still concerned me. read more

*CELIAC / GLUTEN FREE REVIEW while we didn't have time to order anything off the actual menu (GF or GFO clearly marked), we followed the many other previous reviews' recommendations to get the donuts. They only had one when we went, a pistachio vanilla, and a separate GF cookie option. The GF items are in the same case as the vegan / vegetarian items, but the GF items are Saran wrapped. The donut was very tasty with wonderful flavor, but it was more of a mini bundt cake texture than a donut. Both of our lattes were also very good! My friend ordered a hot decaf coffee and was served an iced caffeinated coffee. The interior of my friend's breakfast burrito was ice cold. The menu is very limited, they seem to rely on bread for 3/4 of the entrees. My breakfast sandwich was tiny (basically a half sandwich) and the bread was rock hard. Such a cute cafe with lots of vegan and vegetarian options! I had the breakfast sandwich and it was amazing. It has a maple sage roasted lion's mane mushroom and that's what made the flavor so unique! The ciabatta roll was quality too and made the sandwich feel more upscale. The burrito is a pretty decent size for a breakfast burrito, I'd definitely order again. My friend order the burrito (minus the wrap) and got hers with a side of hot sauce. The hot sauce is house made and was REALLY GOOD. I preferred the hot sauce over the green chili. I also ordered the hibiscus matcha (decaf) iced latte and it was so, so tasty. I'm a huge hibiscus fan and this latte did not disappoint. The inside is cozy and probably a great working spot. If I lived closer, I'd work from there a few days a week. There's a large outdoor area to sit; since this place is located on the corner, there's seating on each side of the street. The service was quick for how busy it was. This place was a tough one. The staff were great & there was a good amount of seating. The ingredients are fresh & well thought out. Unfortunately I did not like what I ordered though. I had french toast with a beet jam on it, but it was absolutely smothered on top of it & since I didn't care for it, essentially ruined the dish for me. I also paid quite a bit for a juice that ended up tasting pretty bitter due to the ingredients. I did read through them, but the balance seemed off. Most definitely my type of place! As a beet lover, what this coffee shop offers/serves truly resonates with the kind of diet I, on a daily basis, eat. Although what I got me the past Saturday was a simple doppio where I didn't order any food (as I was in a huge hurry), I can certainly look forward to spending a decent amount of time sitting down with some healthy bite to eat next time. Service was top notch. A young smiley lady kindly informed me that their "single" espresso already comes with two shots so she wanted to confirm if I meant two shots of espresso when I ordered "double espresso". Attention to detail or what, right? What I wanted was definitely two shots of espresso so I restated my order as "single espresso". Glad that I didn't get four shots; that would have made me so jittery for sure. Plants are everywhere in this shop. Vibrant beet color is seen everywhere (talking Tim Burton world) from the bar stools to wallpaper etc. When the sun is still shining from the east, the window seating facing the east might be the best place to sit and sip/eat your stuff. Only a few blocks away from the busy Colfax but the shop inside is a different world with a little bit of magical touch. 2.5 years later, it's time for an updated review! I came here with my friend for lunch on a weekday and totally forgot it existed. I feel like Corner Beet is ALWAYS poppin' with locals and upbeat vibes. Ordered a Peace in the Middle East toast, along with one of their fancy coffees (can't remember which one). There's options for everyone, and it's all tasty. We sat at the bar, which was a perfect vantage point to watch the talented baristas at work and check out the gorgeous decor. Corner Beet is always allowing local businesses to promote their goods & services - really gives it a community feel. Both indoor seating options and outdoor patio are both gorgeous. My friend and I popped in after yoga the other day. We googled smoothies and this place came up. I wouldn't really say they have smoothies though.. at least I didn't see any on the menu. We opted for the taproot latte. It has beet, cinnamon and some other stuff in it. It came out hot and I definitely was wanting a cold drink but that was my mistake. I loved The Corner Beet! The menu is amazing for many reasons. The options are unique and have healthy ingredients AND each item is labeled if it is vegan or can be made vegan. As a vegan this was an incredibly easy ordering experience. The two donuts I got were a fruity flavor sugar blast. The avocado toast was HUGE! The bread was a thick slice of sourdough and it was loaded with toppings including mushrooms and tofu. It's a great bang for your buck and they do not skimp on food. Simply put, The Corner Beet is a strong four. It takes me a minimum of several months to formulate a review of this nature, but capturing "the beat on the beet" has been a years-long endeavor. I will respectfully begin with the food, which is so much better than it has any right to be. The food, in terms of quality, might be hovering somewhere around perfect. It might. It is vegan-inclusive-ish, and you can feel that with the menu choices - they are limited in a smart way! Most cheeses can be not-cheeses, and likewise with the eggs. Yes! And it all is close to perfect with regard to recipe & preparation. I don't care about the coffee so read other reviews for that. There are a few keystone items on this menu - listen, these are keystone items. The breakfast burrito, the uh, sandwiches, or paninis. There's the um, benedict, french, uhm, the french toast. There are various eggs. There are maybe sandwiches and paninis? They are, of course, all served with dijon, I think. Viewing the menu at the moment, I am two asterisks deep into figuring out what is or isn't served with dijon. GFO+4 dieters should be aware that the french toast is served with mocha sauce. The website pop-up prompted me to view the "Corner Beet Lite" menu, I assume because it detected I am viewing the website after brunch hours. Folks, I'd rather be viewing the Corona Beer Light menu, if you know what I mean.. What I mean is that the menu is inconsistent and very confusing! Even on location you kinda have to scan around until you find a printed menu on some surface (it is not displayed) and then calculate whether the offerings are available based on time and date. All said, you are effectively forced to ask. Many patrons may not love a verbal menu. So, yeah, also, I think they do have cocktails? And maybe events? There are conspicuous liquor bottles on the walls. The events probably involve poetry! I'm not crazy for that, but I think it's neat and nice - open mics & the likes. There is a chalk-based event calendar in the Corner that seems to partially match a website style event calendar, but it's one of those thing where you really need to strike up a conversation with one of the young front-of-house to truly know for sure. There is both tarot tuesday and "wine wednesday" as listed online, but there are other days for sure too. I saw them on the chalkboard. I hope this is getting across what I mean about the atmosphere. There is woke reading material for children available - not really trying to make a point here, that is just the best way to describe it. Like coloring books about President Barack Obama. Very quickly, the prices aren't cheap. It's fine. It's gentrification food. It really is delicious, though. Just expect to spend at least 15ish on an entree and 7 on some type of mushroom coffee potion. The kitchen is too small to function as a brunch place, so there may be painful wait times. To close this out, I must mention that local rag Westword has declared the block north of the Beet's corner a type of criminal hell. Westword said the block is horribly dangerous, and the handsome warriors of DPD are now allegedly patrolling the block eight hours a day in order to defeat crime. The ownership of the Beet declined comment on the several published articles about this important issue. Supported by my experience of eating outdoors at the Corner Beet and walking up and down the same block many times, I would say that it is a perfectly normal and lovely area. I saw a young women yo-yoing (doing yo-yo the toy type tricks) the last time I was there. I have never witnessed crime. I have seen homeless people, which might be frightening to see for some patrons of the neighboring yoga studios and the nearby "apothecary". 4 stars. I'm not aware of any beets on the menu but I might be wrong. read more
