Her salon is everything I want-great people (her BFF Josh works there and is clearly adored as well), warm welcoming energy, and a parade of family, friends, and neighborhood people constantly dropping in to hang for a while. All with great style and zero pretense. I no longer live in the neighborhood, but I truly love going there and have no plans to go elsewhere. She's just that good. I should mention that I don't own a hair dryer because I somehow never learned to use one, so the fact that I have great hair is testament to her wizardry. I've done pixie cuts, long layers, a million colors, and everything in between. I feel like a badass every time I leave Goo. I trust her implicitly and rarely have input beyond "I need it off my face" because I work in medicine. Molly is at her best when you let her run free. She cut my hair today during a terrible migraine. I literally sat down, closed my eyes, and when I opened them she'd cut off six inches and it was 100% the right call. She fully understands how haircuts can mark changes in our lives and is completely invested in honoring that if you want that from her. She never lets me leave until my hair is to her perfect vision. My roots got long in the pandemic and I went in during a brief opening to deal with them. She took one look and refused to dye them, basically saying "you're going to love this, so suck it up and grow it out." I get stopped almost daily since then for my silver Furiosa waves. She's done my makeup for events. You can bring in your outfit and she'll go to town. You will look sensational. And her excitement and anticipation make it all the more fun. Molly cares deeply for people and treats you like family. I think some of her magic is that she sees her clients the way we'd like to see ourselves and then makes our hair match that vision. She has never given me a haircut I couldn't easily maintain myself, or one that didn't grow out well. I could pay triple (and have) and not get anything that even comes close. Her prices are beyond fair and she is worth so much more. I'll stop here because I look like a groupie, though that doesn't bother me. I simply am twenty years overdue on this review so there's too much praise to get it all out at once. You will be happy in her care and blissful if you stop directing and just let her do her voodoo.

This review is about Steve Pellissier. I had a bad experience with him…read more I was referred to Steve by another stylist. She said he was skilled blowing out naturally curly hair. Before my first appointment, I communicated with Steve via text. I showed him pictures of my hair in its naturally curly state. I also showed him pictures of after it had been blown out the way I like it. He assured me that he was confident that he could get the same result. I booked an appointment for root color and a blow out. The color was fine. My blow out did not turn out well. The end result was frizzy and straight. My hair had no body. I watched him while he worked on my hair. I was concerned that it was not going to turn out well because of the way he was blowing it out. He was not putting tension on the blow out. And, he was mixing dry blown out hair with part of the hair that was still wet. He should have put the hair in sections. But while I was in his chair, I did not complain. I was hoping my hair would turn out better. I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. Other than that, the first appointment was without incident. We had a nice conversation. I paid him for his work and his time. As I was leaving, he gave suggestions where I could have lunch in the area. I booked another appointment for 3 weeks out. About a week or two later I wrote back to him. I was tactful. I told him I realized that he has been in the industry for a while and knows his craft. However, as a customer I know my own hair, and I know what works. I told him I had been disappointed with the blow out. I made suggestions on things he could do differently during the next appointment to get a better result. I was very understanding and told him that I was willing to try him out a second time. I told him that I know my naturally curly hair is a challenge and that some stylists need to blow out my hair a few times until they get the hang of what works. I went back for my next scheduled appointment. He colored my hair. Then processed the color. Then he washed out my hair. He did not put a robe on me when he was washing out the color. As he was washing my hair, I could feel water running down my back. I never had this experience before in a salon. I was uncomfortable. But, again, I did not complain. I thought it was just water and that it would dry. When I stood up, he told me that color had gotten onto my pants and stained the pants. He gave me color remover and suggested that I go into the bathroom and try to remove the stain. The stains were very dark and I could not remove them. So a brand new pair of pants were ruined. Steve then blamed me for what had happened. He raised his voice and yelled loudly. He said this was my fault because I wore light clothing. That I should not have worn light clothing on hair coloring day. I had worn a dark top. My pants were light. Understandably, I did not expect water and hair dye to get on my pants. That could have been prevented had he given me a robe to wear, and had he been careful in the wash out bowl. He should not have allowed water to go on my neck and my back. He could have put a towel around my neck to have prevented that. When Steve raised his voice, I got defensive and responded in kind. I was caught off guard. I told him most people would have apologized. That he could have at least offered to pay for my clothing and that the pants were new. He said he would not pay for my cloths. That this was my fault. He said I have a high strung personality, and that I should have worn lighter clothing. In other words, he would not take responsibility. I told Steve that the damage to my clothes had nothing to do with my personality. (Though I do disagree with his description of me). It happened because he was sloppy. That I could take him to small claims. He told me to leave the store while my hair was soaking wet. He said that he did not take to threats. (It was not a threat. It is a fact. That is still an option). The other stylists in the store heard us arguing. I do not think they were paying attention to what we said to one another. I think they wanted to dissipate the scene that Steve had created. A few came over and told him to blow out my hair and not to send me home with soaking wet hair. He then blew out my hair. The blow out looked better than the prior time I was there because he followed my suggestions. (Though it still was not as good as it usually is after a professional blow out). So, without asking me, Steve started taking pictures of my hair and apologized for the "mishap" a few minutes prior. I told him that I did not want him to take pictures of me and I left the salon. This person has a bad temper and blames others for his negligence. I have never had this experience in another salon. Most stylists put a robe on their customers before removing hair dye. Most stylist do not let water get all over their customers when they are washing someone's hair.

I've followed him across three different salons, and he's settled on MUSE Atelier! Super happy. Lawrence is a ROCKSTAR (in more ways than one). I'm one of these kinds of clients who likes to see hair on other people, and want to duplicate that same look. Today, I brought in a picture from the JCREW magazine and asked to have that same haircut. Lawrence took a look at the picture and did exactly what I asked for. He is super amazing - whether it be a short haircut or a "madmen" (long 1950's on top) haircut - he knows what he is doing! I've seen his haircut on all kinds of guys (races) and he knows how to handle hair to make you look your best. (Ladies - he also knows how to give a lady a great haircut also!). ... Speaking about ROCKSTAR - Lawrence is also a rockstar / lead singer from the popular band, The Wayward Sons. If you ask him politely enough, he will belt out some songs while he cuts your hair. Super talented guy! You get it right? He's a musician and he is super in touch with fashion, so he knows how to rock out your hair. Lawrence will also tell you some jokes during your haircut to make you laugh and enjoy the experience. Most of his jokes kinda suck, but I laugh to just make him feel good! (Just kidding!). I drive 45 minutes each way (to & from) to get a haircut from Lawrence. He is THAT good! I also want to mention that I get my manscaping (eyebrows only) by Mayumi. She is a super talented beautician who knows how to clean up a guy's looks without making him look too "sculptured". I have a very sensitive eye area, and oftentimes bruise easily. But Mayumi has always handled me with care and tenderness, and helps me look like a million bucks (at least *I* think so anyways, hahah). She's affordable and super sweet. Her work is the best in the Los Angeles area! Finally, I wanted to mention several more things: ** The salon is CLEAN! ** Everyone here is FRIENDLY and like a family! ** The salon owners are super good to their clients (come'on, wine, softdrinks or iced water in fancy glass cups while you cut your hair?). Worst salon experience I have ever had. I came in for a root melt, they quoted me $90. I told them…read moreI had I perm done and I couldn't handle bleach in my hair or it would severely damage my hair and I wouldn't be able to go back to get my roots redone. The owner promised that she would only add tint but it isn't bleach. She bleached it anyway. For partial highlights, they charged me $400 and she saved the color she used in the system so I can come back in 3 weeks for a root touch up. The whole point of me getting a root melt was so that my natural color can grow in. I cried to them immediately after over the phone and they said they do not offer ANY refunds even if I claim they burned my hair (which they did, and now have so many flyaways) they only offer fixes. I told them I didn't trust them to fix my hair since they completed disregarded what I said in the first place. And on the phone, he laughed at me for suggesting that rootmelts make salon visits less frequent. He even asked me what a root melt was. So I went back for a fix and they recorded me when I sat down on the chair without my consent. I told them to do a root melt and that my natural hair was dark brown. He said so level 3 ? I didn't even know what that meant I'm not a colorist, he didn't even show me the color chart. The result was a near black shade. The aftermath? My hair was four different colors- grey, brown, black, and green. After going to another salon to fix their mess (a color correction costing an additional $300) they said this salon should have understood color theory, this is basic knowledge that any salon should know. Don't come here. They don't know what their doing, they don't understand what root melts are, they don't understand color theory, they'll damage your hair, they won't give you a refund, and they don't listen to your requests. Oh ! And they will record you without your consent when you need a revision and will set you up by saying color levels without reference to color charts. Every salonist I spoke with was appalled and the job they did, questioned their license status, and was dissapointed in their lack of professionalism. I added the photos so you can see what they did. These were taken right after the salon. The brassy photo was from the first time and the other two are from the second visit. I had to blurr my face for how much I was crying.
