I always have such a good experience when I come here. I have been here 3 times, first two times with Debbie, and most recently with Lida. I know everyone here is excellent so I wasn't at all concerned that I would have a different artist this time. Never keep hair cutting scissors in your house if you are like me! I tried to trim my own split ends, and I just couldn't get the length to be even on both sides. I called this place asking if they could take me same-day, and Lida answered saying yes. So I came right away and Lida was excellent the entire time. We had a great conversation, she washed my hair really well, and gave me an AMAZING haircut- I have been getting compliments all week! I also want to add that she really makes sure you are getting the haircut you want, and making sure it is what's best for you. When she gets to a turning point in the cut, she gives you options of what she can do. So there is definitely a lot of trust there and if you are anxious about haircuts, I recommend her. I'd write a 1 star for Carmen but thankfully, Debbie saved the day. Carmen took over an hour to do a blowout and it looked awful. I asked for soft waves and my hair looked bumpy and uneven all over. When I asked her to fix it, she sprayed my hair down with water, told me I didn't have to pay, and to get out. I was on the verge of tears. I went to Debbie right after and she apologized and took 15 minutes to blowout my hair nicely. It was highly unprofessional and disgusting. read more

There's a gal there that can't cut hair. I showed her a picture with a slight undercut behind ears & she did it all around until all what was left was the top to do & realized there wasn't enough length left. City Rage is a high-end, unpretentious, comfortable, therefore classy salon, way classier than any champagne flowing Rodeo Drive one. I bring my friend here for color with Sumiko. They have been a team for too many years to count, Sumiko making house calls when my friend was ill, never compromising quality or skill, leaving her feeling uplifted, better about how she looked as she regained strength, health then...so warm, welcoming now that my friend can come in. Someday I might fit in here as well as I currently do with both my stylist and colorist (yes, I have two different highly skilled professionals). No harm in doing recon as situations, life changes in an instant. Until then I remain loyal, untemptable by discount coupons or other such deals! You gotta have trust, rapport with those who touch your tresses, like you do with your doctor. Metered parking or residential be sure to read signs carefully. Words of wisdom from an aging, unattractive Yelper: Always have a great haircut, color, never gain an ounce, take care of your car and your skin, your teeth because then it doesn't matter if you're dressed in rags, your entrance sizzles! I got my haircut here a few weeks back. The reason I chose to go to City Rage was 1) I was planning on adding bangs to my look and wanted to get someone qualified to do it correctly and 2) it was close enough to walk to! I am in love with my hair! Debbie did everything I asked for, nothing more nothing less. She even gave me a tip on how to style my bangs for after I left the salon. I didn't want to cut too much length off, just even it to match the back (to fix from a bad haircut about 6 months ago) and she made sure to keep checking in with me before and after a section was chopped; ensuring I was comfortable with the length. She did the same with the length of my bangs. Overall, I am incredibly happy with how my hair turned out. I think this is my new hair place! read more

I found Debbie through raves on Next Door for her blond highlights after disappointing results the past few years. I started to think my hair chemistry had changed and that it was no longer possible to achieve the color I prefer. Not so! Also for Lida! She's a very sweet, gentle, skilled threader who takes her time to do it right in a small, private room. I'd only been to one other place in Westwood that was too "assembly line" for my taste. Who wants a line-up of other people sitting a foot away from you while you're getting hair removal? Threading does sting a tiny bit (I can't even imagine how much waxing must sting), but it's really quick and worth how fabulously smooth your face feels afterward. And make-up goes on so much better without peach fuzz! The first time I went to Lida, she put some Neosporin on my face afterward for a bit of protection. That was a bit too goopy for me, so last time she said to try some lemon juice as an antiseptic & soother. The assembly-line place gave me NO advise for post-threading protection. And one other thing threading newbies whould know is that you can tend to get little bumps a day or two after, so I like to use a really gentle scrub the first few days to prevent fine ingrowns. Oh - make sure to bring cash or a check, because Lida doesn't do credit cards. She forgot to tell me this when I made my first appointment, so I had to put a check in the mail the next day. read more

I started going to her for my eyebrows which I love-- without having to pay an arm and a leg! She's also been doing my hair in the last year or so and she's done a wonderful job. If you've been curious about "eyebrow threading", let me tell you, the results Lida achieves are amazing through this technique. It is slightly painful, but the ends justify the means.
