Looking for a plant based restaurant in Memphis is very difficult. The experience here solidifies my feelings. I've been here about 3-4 times for various items and none are impressive. The smoothie bowl was melted, the fresh juice was pre juiced and poured in to a cup, and the zucchini noodle bowl was just... bleh. In this economy to toss a plate due to undercooked sweet potato and over cooked zucchini noodles as well as lack of flavor is sad, but expected. My advice to this establishment would be; plant based does not mean lack of flavor. Nor does it mean lack of presentation bc my food looked like it was thrown into a box. Very unappealing. Cashew ranch is impressive! Hence my two stars. Would not recommend and won't be coming back. read more

Food needs to be more than just pretty. Everything looks beautiful but is bland tasting. One item actually had flavor and that was the hummus. All ingredients look pretty and I'm sure are nutritious, but just lack much flavor of any kind. We all took bites of each others to try. It wasn't just me thinking something was missing. An onion, pepper, egg, sauces etc should be identifiable based on taste. I never add salt or pepper at restaurants but this place had me scanning for some. Didn't see any at the outside seating area. This is restaurant has lots of options for vegans and vegetarians. I tried the Memphis chick sandwich, which was very good. Unfortunately, I could not eat the majority of the side salad that came with it because half of the greens in it were rotting, which is surprising considering the majority of the dishes on their menu contain greens. My mom's order also came with a side salad that contained rotting greens. Additionally, the lady taking our order kept suggesting order modifications without being clear that we would be up-charged. Stopped in for lunch ahead of the threatening winter storm coming tomorrow. Entering and ordering can be a bit of a confusion as there is no menu board, but there are menus you can grab to look at BUT they are up at the registers to if you are 3/4/5 people back you ain't getting no menu. I guess you could look at the menu on your phone but I really hate being on my phone in public but nobody else seems to mind so whatever. It's also a bit loud up at the register area as well. Let me start by saying: I just left City Silo and I already can't wait to go back! I ordered one of their toast + spreads from their small plate portion of the menu -- I wanted one of each because they sounded so delicious but landed on their Pico de Cado. The flavors were very basic/straightforward but very delicious. The avocado was perfectly ripe and the pico de Gallo was super tasty! I also ordered their Memphis Chick sandwich. (It was the Rendezvous sauce + cashew ranch that influenced me most.) And I am SO GLAD I got it!!! And surprisingly the sharp cheddar tasted so great on this sandwich, too. The chicken was so tender and well-seasoned. (Also: yes. Both of the dishes I ordered came on bread. Their bread tastes wonderful and I regret nothing!!!)
