Went on a Sunday, tires had to be ordered & promised delivery was the next day & was fulfilled. Family owned business & they are honest & accommodating. Everybody is on point John won't steer you wrong. Waiting room is decorated with novelty items from the past and facility is extremely clean. They also do full mechanical work. Went City Tires a few years ago to have some hard to find tires installed and they did a fine job. Went today to buy some new tires and they did not disappoint. The young man behind the counter was courteous and professional, they acquired the tires, installed and balanced them for a Very reasonable price and gave me a price to the penny without trying to pull off any extra charges. It was done within an hour. They were very honest and a pleasure to do business with. Highly recommended establishment. read more

I stopped in as the place opened as my tire had a flat. I was overwhelmed as my husband is going in for open heart surgery and i wanted to ensure I saw him before he went under the knife. As i walked in, no one was there to greet me, someone else that worked there had walked in, and I asked as he walked by me if he worked there, eager to get his fixed. He said with his back turned to me, yes... and that was it. I then say, is there anyone that can help me, he said "probably". I wait a tad longer and another person finally came up to the front and asked if i needed help. I explain my situation and how i was desperate to get this fixed so I can drive to the hospital to see my husband before his surgery. without a single bit of sympathy to my situation, he says i have to leave it there (meanwhile, i have no where to go) and that it will take A LONG WHILE before they get to it. As he asked me for my number to call when it was ready, even after I told him i had no where to go but wait, he reiterated, again, unsympathetic to my husbands open heart surgery and my desperation to go see him before, that it WILL be a long time before they even take a look at it. I walked right out... i took it to pep boys down the block. I explained my situation and they grabbed my keys and fix it in under 15 min! And yes, they were busy too. Even with people waiting, he understood my situation and handled it with sympathy and consideration. When it was done, Handed me the keys and said, go see your husband, and charged me NOTHING for it! I tipped them big, and was on my way. THAT is how you do it folks! I had gone to City Tire a few years back where they were extremely helpful and I was in and out in a hurry. I am not sure if there are new owners, but not only do they suck, their personnel needs an attitude adjustment. You are not gods gift tot he universe, so tone it down, and as experienced proved... there are a lot more deserving companies out there that deserve your business! Went there for an inspection on a Saturday morning. After the inspection was compete, while driving out of the parking lot, my car started to hesitate and stalled. I asked if they wanted me to leave the car and come back another day to pick it up, the owner said give them a little time and they will look at it. They were pretty busy at the time. With the owner checking the internet for solutions and the mechanic troubleshooting, they figured out it was the fuel pump relay. They even had the relay in stock. I was back on the road in no time and for a very reasonable price. Nice to see there are some real mechanics still around. read more

went into City tire on Eastwood and middle country Road in centereach i asked for a quote on a flat tire that my vehicle had the quote was $50 . when I question the price the owner of the shop told me this isn't Jerome Avenue in the Bronx and that's the price. i felt its shop business etiquette was so off . as a paying customer i felt I should of been treated with so much respect but i guess this place feels comfortable treating customers this way. never ever will do business with this shop again!!! it would be nice to come into a community business and feel welcomed and this business did the total opposite and I did not feel welcomed at all. read more

Absolutely the most friendliest place I've been too. One customer at a time. Waited 15-20 minutes at desk while the person was on the phone. When it was my turn he made sure everyone else waited. No rushing the customer service. Bought two tires, oil change and some misc work... Definitely would recommend this mechanic shop to you and my family. I've gotten tires here on & off since 1989. They are pretty reasonable. Some cars are just expensive. Not like 30 years ago you can get cheaper tires on your car. Better tires means better gas mileage, better comfort from bumps, just all around safer!! read more

Called to get pricing at 10am.. Given *very* good pricing; but the woman said "Please don't come right now -- I need to get the tires off the truck." I said, "No problem; I won't be there until 4pm" - she said, "That's perfect!" Showed up at 4pm. "Greeted" by John (no mask). I told him I'd called earlier, spoken to someone. And, told him the tires I'd inquired about. He walked away. Returned and said, "Yeah, I have those tires; but there's no way I can put them on today -- they're not even off the truck." I said, "I called about this 6 hours ago?" He smirked and said, "Don't know what to tell you." I explained I was willing to wait; the tire I had *needed* to be replaced; it was unsafe. His reply, "You're not getting it. I'm not doing the job today." I asked why I was told to come down? He said, "No one told you to come at 4pm." I explained the situation, and asked who the woman was that I'd spoken with? "She's just an admin," he said. "I call the shots here." I asked if I could speak with her - since she'd said she'd be there until 6pm. He smiled even larger and said, "She left early!" Went across the street to Mavis -- treated like a professional and got two new tires (not used) for a total of $80 more. Definitely worth it, IMO. read more

I have used city tire for years(decade) or more. I brought in for a oil change and inspection, I told them how a sensor was out so check engine light was on. I use truck for work i need it running 100%, So after 8hrs I called, John says it failed inspection, I said yes I have sensor issues I would like them fixed, he then said well there's no gas to do inspection(dropped with a quarter tank). He said tech drove truck to get to pass inspection? Best partof this is John started screaming cursing, meanwhile I'm still baffled to what I did to get that treatment, I just wanted my truck fixed. So unprofessional,definitely stop recommending them. Stay away. read more

After dealing with Mavis Tire in Selden, this place was a breath of fresh air. I called City Tire Saturday morning and explained I've been getting the run around from Mavis. The guy John who answered the phone was so nice. He took the information on what tire I needed, ordered it and assured me that it would be in early Monday morning. I wanted to believe it but after being screwed around by the other place, I was afraid to put my faith in them. I have to say though, they totally came through and called me when they said they would, saying my tire was in. I ran down there and 20 minutes later was driving away minus all of the hassle I've been dealing with, the way it should be. Thank you City Tire! read more

I moved from NE to NY and stopped by this place for an inspection of my vehicle. I was extremely disappointed with my service. Here are a few reasons. 1. The inspection took 3 hours. When it was finished I was told I would get a call, no one called. 2. I failed the inspection for a broken rear coil spring. They attempted to up-sell me with bogus services totaling over $1,100 in addition to fixing my coil spring. 3. They over estimated labor and quoted me at over double what some of their parts were worth. I left without letting them overcharge me for any services. Clearly, I need to find a place that will be honest and that conducts business without dollar signs in their eyes. I will not be returning for inspection or otherwise and will not recommend this business to anyone. read more

DON'T USE THIS PLACE! They are the biggest rip off artists I've ever met. Went in to get a nail patched on tire. They said they tried but couldn't seal it and recommended I buy a new tire. I had no choice but kept the patched tire. Fast forward months later and another tire got a nail but is too old so I swapped it with patched tire I kept. Low and behold it is fine! Liars just to make money, not in your best interest. Buyer beware!! read more

Very nice guys. Dealt with John and Mike who got my oil changed quickly (on a walk-in) and patched a tire for me. My only complaint was that they charged $30 for the tire patch. I think that's crazy- most garages would patch a tire for free for a customer already paying for other work. read more

I barely post reviews, but these guys deserve 5 stars and hopefully some business sent their way. Called last minute for a rim repair as a last ditch effort after being told by Jeep they wouldn't be able to get me in for weeks. Not just courteous, but they had me come in the same day, and estimated me a 2 hour turn around time (and if not then they could put the donut on my tire so I could still get around), they were beyond helpful and much less expensive than it would have cost me at the dealership. Less than 2 hours later, I had my repaired rim and a new shop. read more

Mike and the guys at City Tire saved me from the high prices across the street at Mavis. I went there 1st and then was dissapointed, thats when I noticed City Tire across the street. I called and got a quote over the phone that was much better than Mavis. They were friendly and had free wi-fi which allowed me to share how happy I am with the service here at City Tire. From a quality of work perspective, this is the worst of any kind of car service center I've ever been to. They had my tires in stock, they did the work in a good amount of time, and they were very friendly. But Why the mechanic thought it was ok to grind the paint off my rims to add the balance weights, I have no idea. He must have thought that was an ok thing to do since he did it to all 4 wheels. Not only did he take the paint off but he gouged large areas of the aluminum just to stick on small weights. It blows my mind. They are lucky they gave the right guy the right attitude. I can't see most people letting it go so easy. I accepted their offer to touch up the paint. I did not realize they were going to paint the entire inside of each rim. They painted over the dirt and the residue from the old balance weights rather than just touch up the damage they did. So I paid over $800 for new tires and at the end of the day my rims got a tacky paint job and I have knots in my stomach. Not worth it. See the pictures. Go somewhere more professional. read more

I woke up ready to go to work in the morning with two flat tires. Had to carpool. Called Steve at City Tire @ 8:00 AM explaining the situation. He asked for the tire sizes over the phone, didn't have them in Stock as they were a performance sports tire. He ordered them and by 1PM I received a call letting me know I can drop my car off after work. I got the car to them by 6 PM and by 7:30 my car was ready. Price was right in line with Tirerack.com, service was professional, and everyone I dealt with was very courteous. Good shops/mechanics are hard to come by, I wouldn't hesitate to give them repeat business or send friends/family to them. Keep up the great work guys. read more

I went back to city tire to get a very complex issue fixed that no one else could fix. Not only did they take their time and diagnose it for free, they fixed it in a timely fashion and were very honest with pricing and overall I'm very happy with their work and will be returning.
