I loved living at Cityfront place! It was the perfect location for me, and the building amenities were great. Two thumbs up for the doormen - especially Mike! The guys (and gals) up front are some of the nicest people I've ever met. Amanda was my leasing agent, and she was incredibly helpful and very responsive (I had a lot of questions for her while I was living there). I had to take one star off, because Amanda is no longer with the company and the people in the sales office are very slow at responding to requests. As a note - my lease actually runs through the middle of October, I am just no longer living in the building anymore since I bought a place. I sent them my Intent to Vacate notice 11 days ago, and I am still waiting for them to answer questions I have regarding my last rent payment which is a bit frustrating. But other than that, Cityfront is a really great place to live. Great views of the Navy Pier fireworks from the sundeck in the summertime! read more

Cannot wait for my lease to be done - counting days..All praises and cudos to the maintenance crew, stellar front desk crew but the office "crew"....And even if you move in here, the parking part could be interesting - in my case, now it happens WEEKLY, my garage entry FOB DOES NOT WORK. There is a phone number I can call, but sometimes the wait is a bit longer and there are other cars behind me. Tried several times to get an explanation from I guess, a 'property manager' "Daniel" who responded once after a week, the second time he did not even bother to explain why is this happening...Nothing like a surprise coming back from work and you cannot drive in....And you send an email asking why....and no one respond or call...SO JUST BASED ON THE OFFICE 'CREW' ONE STAR FROM ME, I CANT WAIT TO LEAVE THIS PLACE JUST BE CAUSE OF YOU. O there is one more bit - they could not remove the former tenants pets from my lease?(how complicated that could be?) but I can tell you this - Buster the dog and Willow, the cat are best pets I EVER HAD - for over a year I did not feed them, did not even see them....(I like all animals, this is just a jab to the 'office crew' for failing all across the board and being THE ONLY REASON I AM LOOKING FOR A NEW PLACE). read more

I have mixed feelings about the apartment building! It had a great location and the apartments themselves are pretty nice. Elevators are a big issue and have always been so! Amenities are actually great when fellow tenants behave themselves. My parking space is good and the dog run is fun on the 7th floor. My dog loves it. Mixed reviews are the staff and management. Some great and some not. Like the front desk concierge Beverly who is always pleasant and greets warmly and is always helpful. Maintenance are always mostly friendly and well mannered. read more

I couldn't be happier at Cityfront Place! The location is amazing (we are right on the water) and its been great to have a 24 hour fitness center and other amazing amenities open this year. I've lived in Cityfront Place for 3 years now and love it! I pay a fair rent for a convertible apartment that is more like a one bedroom and has two walk in closets. I have an amazing view of Navy Pier. My kitchen is outdated but everything works fine. If I have any problems, Joe and the guys come up almost immediately to fix anything I need. Management has changed a few times but the office staff (HoneyBeth and Laurie especially!) have always been wonderful to me. I love having 24 hour doormen/women and they are helpful and friendly as well. The amenity floor has just been remodeled and looks fantastic. I wish I had in unit W/D but they have all new high efficiency machines and a large gym and business center and party room. The huge deck is great and I have never had to wait to use a grill. I've made some great friends in the building and it's pretty awesome to have a bar basically in the same building. We walk around to Lizzie McNeill's frequently for drinks, free popcorn, trivia and karaoke. In short, I'm definitely going to miss this place when I move to the suburbs... and so will all the friends and family that love coming to visit. Thanks for a great 3 years guys! read more

I lived in a two bedroom in Cityfront Place between 2008 and 2009. The doormen were awesome, the location can't be beat, and the view from my apt was spectacular. That's where the list of good things ends. The apt itself was okay, a bit outdated but no biggie. We smelled smoke every single night in the master bedroom and my boyfriend nor I smoke. Also, they charged us a huge non-refundable application fee (I believe it was $400) just to move in. Right now, they probably aren't charging it anymore because of the economy... The office staff was awful. I had to keep on calling to find out whether or not I needed a guarantor when I initially signed my contract. When I moved into my apt, about half the blind slats were missing from my large window in the living room; seriously??? They did fix it but some of the other things I told them initially moving in didn't get fixed so I had to call again. Last, you have to pay extra to go to the gym in building. Sorry, but living in Chicago in the winter this sucks (sometimes it's nice to just run downstairs to hit the gym instead of going out). The gym was decent, maybe 5 times the size of a normal high rise gym, but still nothing to write home about. I paid for it for a few months but then realized carrying two gym memberships was just wasteful so I chose a real gym over this gym. read more

I have just renewed my lease for another year because my experience at Cityfront surpassed all my expectations. The location of the building alone is unbeatable, minutes away from Lakeshore- for the daily run/walk, Fox and Obel, navy pier, Michigan avenue, AMC theaters as well as many restaurants and bars. Its placement on the river is not only serene, but places it about a block away from busy traffic, which gives me the necessary quite I need! The staff, management, doormen/women are pleasant, friendly and helpful. The view from my apartment is amazing! Some points that should be noted: the apartments are carpeted and there aren't granite counter-tops- but the building is constantly updated and very well maintained. The gym is additional- the biggest problem I have with the building, but the prices are reasonable. For the price of any of the apartments in the building, (studio, convertible, one or two bedroom) this building, its location and amenities cannot be beat! read more

I toured Cityfront Place back in November when they had multiple (in excess of 10) 1 bedroom apartments near 900sqft... for $1400-1500! This was several hundred dollars below comparable apartments in the area, so I figured I would take a look. Well.. "you get what you pay for!" Kitchens are ancient (appliances are from the 80's/early-90's), no W/D in-unit -- there's a laundry room which would conveniently be getting renovated over the coming year (no, thanks!), gym had prehistoric equipment, deck would also be under renovation for the entire length of my proposed lease, and the area was awful. It felt like I was on the set of the latest zombie thriller where the entire city was wiped out before I stepped outside. I just went back to check the website to make sure I was reviewing the right place, and I nearly fell over ... Rent has now INCREASED by $600-700 within the last few months since I visited! What on Earth could prompt that?? Unless they re-did every apt with W/D, stainless steel appliances, granite, and a 14k gold-plated toilet.... The apartments have killer views, but the quality, atmosphere, and location suck. I didn't do it for $1,400, and I certainly would NOT for $2,150! read more

Love this place! - Best Downtown value by far- Great Views- Fabulous Staff- (The doorman Mike met me once while moving in, and 3 months later remembered my first and last name - I am 800 miles away from all of my family, friends, NJ. pizza, and 40 years of history. (At least I am away from the cast of Jersey Shore) Seriously though- I find myself not homesick due largely to my gorgeous view, quiet surroundings, and the super nice caring staff of Cityfront Place. They all go above and beyond to make sure sure that living somewhere else would be a very foolish choice. When the staff treats you like family, you have so much to do all within short walking distances, the best jogging and biking places in Illinois -I know that as long as I am here in the Midwest I will more than likely reside in this building. This place is honestly a hidden gem. It's located right on the Chicago River in Streeterville tucked away in a quiet unassuming court that makes the place surprisingly quiet for its location. Any bad reviews are written before current management took charge as they are an absolute delight to work with and have been helpful and attentive every step of the way. This place is very affordable with lots of different floor plans, plenty of amenities, and community events to boot. Not to mention in this recent cold snap we barely had to turn on heat as the building is well insulated and warm. Appliances are newer and full size, and our unit has nice dark hardwood floors. Although washer and dryer isn't in unit, the community area has plenty of clean well working machines. I'm thrilled to have found this place and it has been a joy living here for the past month. read more

My boyfriend and I have lived here for five months and we LOVE it so far! All of the management staff is very friendly and maintenance is super fast-generally same or next day fixes. The elevators are down sometimes but they are always fixed quickly and if that is the worst problem you can think of in your building , you're doing pretty well . We are new to Chicago so we really appreciate the building events in the building (e.g. trivia night , salsa dancing, Halloween pumpkin painting, etc.) which has been great to meet people and get to know our neighbors! Also, Ally in the leasing office really went above and beyond to help us find a spot in the building. There were no more units in the layout we wanted available at the time we wanted to sign a lease but the leasing office stated in close touch and notified us as soon as something meeting our criteria came up. We were on a short deadline so the extra assistance and patience from the leasing office was very much appreciated. Overall the location is incredible , perfect for my boyfriend who is a resident at Northwestern (only a short walk to the hospital) and close to buses which I take for my commute to the West Loop. Being right on the river walk is wonderful and connects us right to Millenium Park , Cultural Center, etc. just south of the river and the lakefront trail along Lake Michigan so you are situated right next to quite a few great attractions. Also luckily the immediate area around the building doesn't get a ton of traffic so it's pretty quiet and peaceful. We are very happy to call Cityfront home and would highly recommend it! read more

The front desk and office staff are terrible. This building is not safe. Front desk staff turn their head and let anyone in the building. The garage door was left open for months during the riots with multiple break-ins to cars. I have been followed in the main entrance, multiple times by people hanging around in the lobby. When asked about it the security manager yelled and said "don't spread lies". The worst experience I have ever had with the security and management of a building. The maintenance staff and sales staff howerver are both very pleasant. I will also add that door staff had been excellent until Tiffany and "Z" left. Now it is extremely poor, worse than having no one at the door. read more

Ive looked at over 20 apartments during 3 months (gold coast, river north etc) and couldnt believe the great deal I got here. Management staff are super friendly (they really care and are fast responders) and front desk security is nice. I love the community vibe they provide through free events. For the luxury amentities, view, location and apt itself you cannot find a better rent deal! Even my broker was excited to show me this place. Update: the only cons are i had experience with cockroaches several times but maintenance is always willing to clean them for me. Another thing is there is a lot of construction from other nearby buildings and also some apartments above my unit. But if youre used to city life it shouldnt be too bad and usually the sounds are over by evening time. read more

I have been at Cityfront for the last 7 years, but am so happy and impressed now with the building more than ever before. They have been going through apartment renovations for the last couple of years, and when I got my renewal I was given the opportunity to switch to a renovated unit. Wow - what a difference!! My new apartment looks amazing. I have brand new everything!!!! The kitchen has much better appliances and I get granite counter tops...Yes please! They swapped out the old carpet for hardwood floors. I am still amazed at how different everything looks. So, to say the least, I am happy that I made the decision. I worked with Matt in the leasing office, and he made the transition easy by being patient with me to find the right apartment and date to move. Looking forward to more years living here. During my 4 month stay at Cityfront Place so far, I have been stuck in the garage elevator and woke up in a flooded apartment because my neighbor had a problem with his/her bathroom. who knows what is going to happen next, although the management still claims that they are doing a good job given what had happened. I will say that the location and view are great for sure but the maintenance is insufficient. If you don't want to be stuck in the elevator unexpectedly or wake up in a flooded room, think twice before you signed the paper. read more

Let me preface this by saying I don't actually live here - but I did visit the apartments three times when I was searching for a home. The apartments and their views are great. However, to me, management is representative of the kind of service you can expect at a place. On every occasion, the people I interacted with at Cityfront were indifferent and at times even snotty. I lived here 4 years. The experience was mostly good. Without further due, I'll list the points that are worth mentioning. 1. The location is ideal. The front of the building, with Lizzie's, the river and the fountain is a beautiful place in the summer. 2. When the new management took over the building about two years ago, they added some hidden fees. There is a fixed, mandatory AC/heating fee, which is simply an increase in rent. 3. The renovation on the 8th floor was painful and took forever. This is not really a disadvantage now since it is over. But I do not think it was worth it. The party room and the business center were good additions. The gym and the pool are pretty much the same as before. And luckily they haven't touched the sun deck yet. Also other areas were renovated. The lobby used to be nice and cozy but it was remodeled to modern and plain ugly. 4. The sun deck has a grilling area which is awesome. This is the nicest one I have seen in Chicago. If you like grilling out in the summer this is your place. Having said that, the management announced about a year ago a plan to remodel this area which would ruin one of the best assets of the building. There were supposed to do it last winter but they didn't, so there is hope. 5. The one great addition of the common area renovations that took place last year is the business center. It has a coffee machine, which even though it is out of order it tells you that the place was designed mostly as some sort of coffee shop to go and study. 6. Every year, at the time of renewing the contract, they wanted to increase my rent about 10%. I threaten to leave and we would settle for a 5% increase in rent only. 7. When I moved out there were no charges added from the move out inspection. The apartment was in perfect shape, so this was expected. But, as you all know, some large management companies are not too reliable. So, this is another point in favor of Cityfront. Overall, this is as good as rentals go. There are some fancier buildings in Chicago (like Eugene terrace, which is much more expensive). But I think that the only way to get a better deal is to rent a condo (which typically offer better deals than rentals). read more

This is a great place to live. The building is uniquely oriented at 45 degrees to the Chicago River (instead of parallel). This allows two sides of the building to have a riverfront view. I have an excellent SW view of the Chicago River, SW skyline, and even a sliver of Lake Michigan/Chicago Harbor. It is within walking distance to the Navy Pier and the Magnificent Mile and is very close to Lake Shore Drive for car trips near the shore to the north or south. It is also about 5-7 minutes from highway 90/94. The lobby is classy and the amenities are nice, including a loaded (though slightly pricey) gym. read more

Door staff is pleasant, nice. I like them. I lived here for 4 years. The first year I was accused by the property manager of passing out drunk in the hallway because someone apparently passed out drunk in the hallway and was near my door. The police, I guess, pulled the guy out of the building and the management staff guessed it was me. Now... Why on earth would I pass out in front of my door in the hall? How drunk do you have to be to not be able to crawl 2 feet inside? And if I had lost my key, don't you think i would have had to ask to be let it? Next, and from what I hear this happens to everyone, when you move out, they charge you hundreds of dollars for "damage" whether or not there is damage. This is why I'm giving one star. Cityfront has some very nice things going for it - the building lobby and common areas are kept up impeccably, the building is very secure, the doormen and office staff are friendly and attentive, and the apartments are in overall good shape with decent layouts and views that cannot be beat. It is not without problems though. The main issue with the apartments themselves is the ventilation and climate control system. As many buildings like this do, Cityfront uses a system that offers heat in the winter and AC in the summer (or whatever random dates they choose to switch over). My experience was, even though I didn't ever turn on my heating system (tenants have control over a fan that draws air from a central climate control ventilation system), my apartment stayed at 75-78 degrees constantly (even if it was -10 out). For me, that is too hot. The units do have windows that open, but it is really uncomfortable to have freezing air blowing through the window (plus, it still seemed to stay above 74 degrees in the middle of the apartment). The other ventilation issue has to do with the kitchen and bathroom air ducts. These also seem to share a vent system with the rest of the building, so there are often unpleasant smells coming through the vents from other apartments. One small note - this area really doesn't feel like a neighborhood. It's very quiet, which is nice - but it's surrounded by tourist places and doesn't really offer great meet-up places. I found myself travelling all the time to Lakeview, Lincoln Park, River North, etc. to socialize. Overall, the apartments are nice, the staff is great. If the issues I listed won't be a big deal for you, it would be hard to find a nicer building. read more

4/27/16 UPDATE-In response to Jacob's (property manager) comment on my last review: Down a star. The situation with the bikes is exactly why this review was posted in the first place. It was never resolved and I made it very clear that I was not happy with your "resolution" or lack thereof. You basically stole my property and tried to make up for it by reimbursing me less than half of what was owed. And the fact that it has been almost a year and I am still writing this review should tell you I've "slept on it" and still think you're terrible at your job. In fact, what prompted me to remember to finally follow up on this was running into another resident who lived there when I did who also had a bad experience with you right before moving out. We swapped stories and I told him I was going to post a review. So I guess it's a coincidence that we are both in the 33% that apparently weren't happy with your service? Or maybe the 3.25 star rating on here has says something...Maybe you should take this as constructive criticism and do a better job next time instead of being defensive in your reply. The 3 managers before you were always fine. And the rest of the office staff and doormen/women were good, too. You were the only one that soured my experience there, which is a shame. I wish there was a rating lower than one star for this place. One star implies there is some merit. I promise you there is none. While some of the door people are friendly, I can't even make a good case for them as door people are supposed to actually help residents as opposed to sit stationary at their desk and wave people in - including complete strangers. The apartments are atrocious,and only new move-ins get a renovated pad. Everyone else gets appliances purchased at the "Honeymooners" garage sale. If you want to know what it might be like to live in government housing, just walk in to the management office where you are sure to be treated like you just got your Section 8 voucher. If shabby treatment in a supposed luxury building wasn't enough, how about getting charged bogus fees upon moving out, only to have them removed as a "courtesy" once you call them out on their scheme. I wonder how many clueless residents have been swindled. The "amenities" floor has nothing to offer besides a dilapidated lap pool and a workout room with semi-working equipment and a permanent odor. Further, if you enjoy taking 25 minutes to ride an elevator down to the ground floor and getting woken up at 6AM every morning by workers "renovating" apartments with fake hardwood floors and cheap appliances, this is definitely the place for you. But act now, as rents are sure to go up very soon. read more

I have lived at Cityfront for 3.5 years and I intend to live here as long as I stay in the city. The doorman are great and Donna and her team treat me like I am a relative. I love what they did to my hallway and the outdoor deck. I have had a few issues from time to time, but the get the cleaned up for me right away. VERY PROFFESIONAL. I love my view of the river and lake. I am close to the movie theater, the lake, michigan avenue, Dominicks, Navy Pier and Lake Shore Drive. This is an amazing apartment building! The neighborhood is quiet, but located close to a few markets, with lots of great bus options for transit. Common areas are modern, updated, and absolutely gorgeous. The parking structure always has spaces available. My apartment is on the lower part of the building and on the side without a river or lake view--the view is still amazing :) the staff is very timely and polite. The leasing staff are very sweet and accommodating--when we let one of the staff members, Ally, it really felt like she kept an eye out for an apartment that really fit our budget. This is all about the lack of service from the leasing office. Had a visit and showing scheduled today at 430 p.m. We arrived late at 4:40. We acknowledged that it was our fault and apologized for being tardy, ready to see the apartments in the building. However, the blonde lady at the desk barely gave us her time. She did not greet us, shake our hands, or acknowledge us in any way outside of telling us she was not going to show us the apartments. Basically just didn't give us the time or day. She told us because we were late she was not going to show us anything or give us any information. Again without even looking up from her computer at us. Her entire demeanor was incredibly rude and if this is the kind of service and care given to showing building, I cannot imagine the terrible service given to the entire building. I hope this is an isolated incident. Our excitement to see and possibly rent a 1 bedroom was completely soured. My girlfirend told me does not want to even go back to look because of her attitude. *Just a note, if she was nice and polite, like every other leasing office in town, we would have had no problem to reschedule. It is a customer service profession after all. If you don't like your job, do something else! read more

They raised rent 5+ percent, weren't receptive to us after we moved in (but were nice prior to lease signing), and charged nearly $500 on move out for limited scratches/stains that we felt were normal wear and tear. Impression was that management may have been excessively bottom-line oriented. Views, locations, maintenance staff were strong points, in our opinion. read more

Its a horrible place. I would not recommend living there to anyone. First, they do have immense plumbing/ventilation problems. I am not allergic to dust, but I got sick in this building (I moved into an old apartment with horrible appliances in October). Second, the construction!!! I am t aware that there might be delays, however, when I moved in, they promised to be done in December. Its already January, and they still have not finished renovating. Also, there is no end in sight. The management is evasive - I was told in January that there wont be any noise from construction, but they started doing drilling again! read more

I was only fortunate enough to live at cityfront place during my time at school with Northwestern but this was probably the highlight of my Chicago experience. The place is total class from top to bottom. The staff is extremely friendly and responds to maintenance calls by the next day (and often the same day). The view and locale is great especially if you can get an apartment with a balcony...you'll really enjoy the views. The amenities are also fantastic. I was always surprised that for the number of units, there was almost never any competition for use of the 8th floor facility...which includes a new swimming pool, a great deck with propane grills, a lounge with 2 big screen TV's and a pool table, a study room open 24 hrs with a printer (super nice), and even complimentary coffee or hot chocolate each morning. The administrative staff is always friendly and accommodating and the doormen/women are friendly yet give the assurance that this is a safe place. If you're looking for a downtown location and can handle the rent, you'll definitely enjoy the comfort of your apartment and the great staff at cityfront place. read more

The location is amazing, in a quiet corner of Streeterville right along the Riverwalk. You can easily access the heart of Streeterville, other Chicago neighborhoods, and public transportation without being in the hustle & bustle of it all. Every single view is beautiful, so you really can't go wrong in any apartment. All apartments are extremely spacious & laid out very well. The staff is really what makes Cityfront Place feel like home. You can tell they all really love what they do & enjoy working together as a team. The office staff is always quick to respond & genuinely strives to make Cityfront a great place to live for all residents. The concierge team is unbeatable - Always happy to welcome you home at the end of the day & will go above and beyond to help with anything. Our maintenance requests are always resolved within 24 hours and we have not had any repeat issues. The entire maintenance staff is incredible - Extremely hard-working & so pleasant to chat with when you see them around the property. I've lived here since September and absolutely love it. I'm not quite sure what others are talking about with regard to management issues as I have only had incredible experiences with the entire management team. I am in my early 50s, an "empty nester", single and a professional. I was looking for a luxury apartment that had a lot of amenities, and had a range of ages (not just 20-somethings). I looked at seven buildings in one day, many of which were new. What sold me on Cityfront was the professionalism and friendliness of the staff and front door people. Everyone new my name from the first day I moved in. My leasing agent was Amanda, and she was and remains incredibly helpful. She has continued to reach out to me when the building hosts events and encourages me to attend, because she knows I'm new to the city. If I've had problems with anything (and I had very few) management responded immediately. Amanda and the other staff members are very supportive and flexible and always willing to help. I absolutely love it here. Also, you can't beat the location, the building is beautiful and very well maintained, and the rent is far less than comparable buildings in the area. Finally, I have to give a "shout out" to the "doormen", all of whom are fantastic, especially Mike who brightens my day the moment I walk through the revolving door. If you are professional and want a beautiful place to live (new move-ins are in the rehabbed apartments), a gorgeous amenities floor, incredible views, the ability to meet new people, and a highly professional staff and management team I can't recommend Cityfront Place highly enough. read more

Cityfront is a great building, apartments are newly renovated and fitness area is awesome. The lounge area is great too, I've actually had a couple parties in there. The one bedroom is massive and has a river view. I especially love the balcony, great to get some fresh air, soak up the view. I work in the area, so getting to work is a 10 minute walk, barely use my car. The building has some great events as well, the summer BBQ was pretty cool with live music. Overall great building and would recommend it. read more
