My husband and I are from San Diego and were driving through the area when we decided to stop for a quick bite. We came across this charming little deli and decided to give it a try. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm smile and helpful suggestions on what to try from the menu. The gentleman who helped us--who I believe may have been the owner--was incredibly kind and genuine. We ordered a tuna sandwich on rye and a cup of the mushroom barley soup. We travel a lot, and this deli 1 mile from our home is better than all the rest. Friendly people taking orders and prepping food, excellent quality, large portions so we have leftovers which we like. Lori "always" orders the Rueben, I try different items, today the potato salad was really great. They do well with online orders, but they are also fast enough that a walk-in order works well. Diamond in the rough deli. Cityscape is a treasure. I found this gem a couple months ago while craving a Chicken Salad Sandwich. Arriving just a few minutes before closing, they were sold out. Being in the food service industry (traveling manager for a worldwide contract service company), I know this means it must be a popular item. I ordered a BLTA. Too many times there is not enough bacon or the avocado isn't ripe. Cityscape's BLTA is PERFECT. The bread was toasted, bacon was just slightly crispy, (but didn't crumble), and piled high. The tomato was thick & juicy. Avocado was ripe, thin sliced, and wonderfully creamy on the toasted mutligrain bread. The Cityscape family makes their sides in house and it is clear when they hit the taste buds. I had to have the Macaroni Salad, especially after I was told it is made with Dill. Being from the south, Macaroni Salad is always sweet. Cityscape's is different & delicious. It is full of fresh cut veggies and tossed in a creamy dill dressing. I returned to Cityscape every time I was in MI. Each visit I ordered a different sandwich, but I don't miss the macaroni salad. Too good to pass up! The spicy pickles are a fantastic accompaniment to the meal. Today, Bill and his team put together a great spread of assorted sandwiches, wraps & subs (and of course the macaroni salad)for an employee appreciation meal. I ventured outside my regular tastes for a Bloomfield Favorite. I normally am not a big Russian Dressing fan; WOW! theirs packs some punch. I had a plain corned beef on rye. It really was good. It was not piled on like a Bread Basket sandwich though, so my problem was the price. $14.50 for some lunchmeat and bread. At most it was worth 10 bucks. For this reason i can never go back. With a dollar tip and a bag of chips my bill was $18.62! i understand inflation and all but a business has to get creative to survive. u cannot just raise your prices especially on lunch meat u can get at a supermarket. This may explain why no one else was in the place. I am far from cheap but I felt duped. Friendly and fast service, yes. Place was clean. I will never go back unless I see a coupon. read more

Went in again, hoping to sneak a corned beef sandwich to enjoy. They were friendly and quick, I ran to the grocery store in the plaza to grab some ingredients for dinner and when I came back it was ready and they gave me an extra pickle after I told them how much I loved them. I also mentioned that the first time my one year old ate half my sandwich and they were impressed (so was I! Now he's 2.5 and would probably take the whole thing and eat it himself.) I got home and found my husband home from work early. So unfortunately I had to share my sandwich again! But he loved it as well. The Russian dressing is amazing, sweet, then heat, a little crunch and creamy. Absolutely delicious. Cityscape is becoming a regular for our family. When I was there they were assembling trays. It was my first visit but will not be my last. I ordered a half sandwich and salad. Ask what they recommend with turkey, the gentleman recommended number 9 said it's how he married his wife lol.
