I haven't been in this place for many months because the service is so spotty and I always end up leaving irritated. I thought I'd give it another try, but it was the same old thing. There were at least six people "working"--standing around talking loudly with the radio blasting, mainly--and even though I was just getting a single bagel with cream cheese it took forever. And no one else was even in the store. At a certain point, the manager/owner called over to me and said "we're having trouble with the toaster." I had been super clear that I wanted it "not toasted." Then because he could tell I was irritated and it had been, well, forever, he started scolding the workers about talking too much, the music being too loud, etc., to no avail. They just kept going. And when the time came to finally hand me my bagel, there was no apology, "I'm sorry," or any acknowledgement at all that it had been a really inappropriately long time that I had been waiting--again, with no one else in the store. And six employees working. The sad thing is that the bagels at this place are pretty good, about the best you are going to get in metro Detroit, but I won't be back. Management needs to step up in this place and enact a more professional approach to customer service. read more

In the photo there is half a sandwich they charged me full price for, the other half she dropped on the floor while making it. They are confusing - sounded like she wanted me to eat the other half off the floor. No discount offered, she did not offer to make a new sandwich. They played me. Pepa behind the counter was lost. Not attentive. Bacon looked raw, had to microwave bacon when I got home. Never coming back again. I also came here about a year ago and waited 30 minutes for one bagel because their toaster had a bagel stuck inside of it. Smelt like burnt bagel and there was like 15 people waiting in the store for that time. read more

Horrible. The bagels were all weird tasting, sort of raw, off flavors. They were not actually raw, the texture was ok, although they were stone cold and no longer really squashy, But the taste went from bad to worse. I got five different flavors, the pumpernickel was the least horrible, but I ended up tasting and spitting out every flavor. Alas. Service was brusk but unexceptional. But even if they had been freshly baked, these bagels were a disaster. read more

They are so friendly! And the sandwiches are great! They even gave me a free container of soup when the pot was nearing its end.

Meh. I'll drive 10 miles out of my way to get bagels rather than stop at this place. How bad is it??? I'll give them some credit...the food is actually pretty good. But the service and prevailing attitude make this a no go...for me. They've been in business for a while...so they must be doing something right. I must admit the experience I had recently was much better than another experience I had in the past, one that made me stop coming in the first place. I was still a bit dissapointed that cream cheese doesn't come with the 13 bagels, so my mom only bought one cream cheese which was $4. It wasn't nearly enough sadly. Luckily, the bagels were extremely warm and fresh (my mom asked for the freshest). So, in the past we came here to eat while working outside. It was really hot outside, high 80's. For some reason, I was in a rush and I didn't eat anything. I felt sick and my blood sugar was so low. My mom decided to just quickly get bagels next to the job. She went inside because I was so dizzy and I needed to eat something quick. Th lady inside refused to cut my bagel for me. My mom got the 13 bagels and asked if she could just cut one of them and explained the situation. She told her my hands were covered in dirt with sores and cuts, and that I didn't feel well. The lady refused to slice my bagel. My one bagel out of the 13. She said my mom would have to pay more and that she would have to get cream cheese too. We just wanted a bagel sliced. It made me so upset that we decided to not come back. The bagels were hard that time too. This time they still don't slice, but at least it is something quick. I prefer Einsteins anyday though. read more

Everything was stale or expired. Bagel was terrible. Pasta salad and fruit salad probably two weeks old, never tasted anything so rank. If you are going to have a deli case with premade food, you should be checking quality daily. Nobody wants to bite into fruit that turned to vinegar taste and smell. Expensive sandwiches! $13+ for a bagel with some meat in it is too much. Better off buying your own bagel and deli meat and doing yourself.

The food is very good but the prices don't really make sense to me. There is a sign advertising a $6.99 lunch special with a bagel sandwich, side and drink. A sandwich alone however, is $10-12. I was in a hurry and didn't pay too much attention to the prices. I ended up paying $27 for two bagel sandwiches and a small coffee. The bagels are great, although they put way more turkey than necessary on the sandwiches (I guess that's why they are so expensive?). Anyway, I guess as long as you know to get a combo or just bagels it's a great place. The teens working there were very nice. read more

I guess a toasted sandwich means putting it in a microwave, corn beef on the sandwhich was old and discolored. The best part was when I asked the young lady did she toast my sandwich she said yes. This place is a solid 3 stars, no matter how you cut it. It's not a bad place, but I feel like for me to go up, some stuff would have to change. I've been here before, but not in quite some time. For starters, the bagel selection is good and they are huge! They have a great selection of cream cheeses, sandwiches and cold drinks as well. My mom and I noticed that there was a $3.75 bagel, cream cheese and coffee. We opted for something different, but good to know. We were immediately greeted by the staff, but after looking at their deli case, my heart kind of sunk. They really didn't have much selection in their case in regards to salads, dips and what not. Compared to another famous bagel shop of the same size who shall remain nameless *cough* (NY Bagel and Deli) on Orchard Lake Road, this place kind of sucks! It's like the red headed little stepbrother that tries to keep up, but just can't. Same concept, two totally different experiences! They had lox, but that was about it. Sad! Also, I got charged extra for my lox flavored cream cheese, which kind of sucked. Also, my moms bagel was burned and she was to embarrassed to say anything, so she stuffed it down. Also, seating here is poor. They have a few chairs with a small bar type area, but nothing exciting. We were in a pinch, so we ate our food at the small counter tops since we were running errands around town. Overall, this place isn't bad, but I'm not blown away. I don't mind coming here for the variety and convenience, but that's about it. Plus, its substantially closer then NY Bagel and Deli (which I strongly prefer) over this place any day. Even if they had seating here, there's to many things going on that aggravate me to want to drive here and eat. I'm not saying don't come here, nor am I saying that it's the worst, but really, there's a Bruggers bagels at Woodward and Long Lake, along with a Kroger and Cityscape deli right across the street..... read more

Popped in here during my lunch hour with a coworker, we were just looking for a quick bite to eat. This is a small, mom & pop bagel shop. Everyone was very friendly, greeted as soon as we walked in. Food was quick and fresh. I had a vegetarian sandwich on an Everything bagel. It did not disappoint. Overall, this is a super yummy place and I know I will be going back soon! read more

This place is usually better but they had a girl working today that was literally incapable of taking an order right. 2 sandwiches took way longer than normal and when we got them they were nowhere near what we ordered. For example, I asked for no tomato. Gave me extra tomato with no lettuce. Just really simple and she wrote it all down. Maybe it was my high expectations from the name.... but this place was just ok. I popped in on my long drive down for a viewing. I wanted something that was fairly easy to eat and the car and slightly more delicious than the fast food I Jane been eating all too frequently lately. This is a great alternative to the Starbucks next door. I visited earlier this week and bought 2 bagels as well as 2 small cream cheeses for $6. The New Yorker bagel tastes great but, dang, it's messy. It's basically an everything bagel that's filled with grated cheese so be prepared for seeds and cheese scattered everywhere. I'll come back again to try their coffee and sandwiches. read more

First time at this deli today. Was greeted with very friendly staff. I had a turkey and Swiss on rye sandwich. The bread was incredible and I was very happy with the sandwich. i really like this place. #1 they are privately owned by the nicest woman I've met in a while. They are not some awful chain that you see on every street corner. #2 Every single staff member that was here when we came in was friendly and went out of their way to talk to me and my son. I saw each customer who came in after us be treated extremely kindly as well. My son wanted peanut butter and jelly sandwich, which I understand is not really a normal menu item for a bagel place, but they made him one anyway and he loved it and we ordered a second. I would highly recommend this establishment. read more

My lunch was delicious. However, the service was terrible. Never going again for that reason!!
