We have been here a few times but this time we went for Halloween and the crowd is always upscale so it's always a fun environment! They had a Halloween costume contest and the winner won $1000. Entry is almost always $20, but I'm just glad they didn't increase it for Halloween night as well. Overall the few times we have come, it has always been good music with a mix of songs and a bit of EDM. Most other clubs just have EDM so the music scene is definitely wayyyyyy better here if you are into listening to and dancing to actual songs that the Dj remixes a bit. There was obvious escorts there only reason I know is because one tried to recruit me. Yet two girls were kissing and were told to "cut it out or leave". People were pretty much screwing in the pool and doing drugs yuck I'm not trying to share bodily fluids with hookers. At night the music has no variety and they imply a strict dress code based on race. This is more strictly applied on the guys. While I'm Hispanic I didn't have a hard time getting in because I guess I'm a girl. I passed up like 20 guys Latinos, Blacks, and Asians not being let in because it was "packed" yet me and 3 friends were let right in. When we got in there was more than enough space! The only plus is the huge mirror in the restroom although I wished the chandelier actually had light and not just a cheap decoration. Save your money and time go somewhere else! So many other places that are willing to earn your money be being respectful, fair, and providing great customer service. My friend and I went to Cle' on Sunday to see Sickick, and truly had a fantastic time! Great mix of people, all colors, ages, shapes and sizes, hanging out harmoniously by the pool. We were lucky enough to grab a cushion close to the DJ. Two DJ's spinned before Sickick and the 2nd one was excellent and got the party started. If he is the in-house DJ, I would absolutely go back to see him. The drinks were strong when we specified the liquor. The food was chef quality...we had a Cajun noodle dish...delish. I recommend prepaying for a midtown garage parking spot ahead of time if you don't want to pay $30 for valet. We paid in cash for everything to avoid any potential credit card problems. heard not-so-good things about this place so I just kept avoiding to go until last week. I was invited to my friend's friend birthday party and I really had a good time. The music was good, edm/hip-hop and everyone was friendly. The staff at the bar was really fun and welcoming too. I really like how the bar was setup, cute interior. Me and a friend (who's white) happened to walk by Clé one day when it had just opened up and decided to check this place out. Denied! The second time around a few months later, me and that same friend tried again. However, this time around, we had a secret weapon - a white girl. Denied. Again! The third time around, it was me and that same friend with two other girls. Again, we were denied!! At this point, I had pretty much given up on Clé. I'm not White enough, tall enough, hot enough, or rich enough to get in. It wasn't until that same friend who had been repeatedly denied entry to this place made a reservation for a couple of tables was I able to get in. This was a Friday night and from the people who came late, I was informed that there was a line snaking out the door with people being denied entry. During this same time (between 11 and 11:30 pm), the dance floor was pretty much empty. It wasn't until a little past midnight that this place really got packed. The waitresses assigned to our tables were good looking. However, they were only friendly to the birthday boy and not to the whole group in general. Oh well. Bottle service prices are pretty much on par with other clubs and they offer $100 discount listed prices if you order more bottles before 11:00 pm. I did have a good time when I was able to gain entry to this club and hence, the two-stars rating instead of one. Very nice club - Clé! As we all know if you are taking the time to read this post that clubs can be hit or miss! Clé was definitely a hit IMO! The layout and atmosphere was unique and added to the cachet of the club! I would recommend a section as this club appears to be on the upper end of establishments that I have visited thus far during my short time in Houston! Although a section was not needed on the Saturday night I most recently attended it would be recommended; but with enough liquor in you with the right amount of friends around you can do without lol. My friends and I were having a GNO and decided to try this trendy place we'd heard so much about. So we walk up to the bouncer (no line) and he proceeds to ask us if we "have reservations", we said no, and he tells us "Fridays and Saturdays is by reservation only". As we're walking away, he lets in 2 tall, thin, blonde white girls. Never did he ask them for reservations, only asked to see their ID's. So yeah, it was pretty obvious that even though this was a black bouncer, he was being racist and picking and choosing who he let in. Our girl group consisted of one hispanic (me), and three asian girls. I kinda wish Yelp had 0 stars because that would def be my option. And in the case of Cle and dozens of other Houston nightclubs, they're all Black, brown and Asian males. (Eff off, anti-HERO supporters.) If you do make it past the doors at Cle, you'll see that the place is massive. Huge. Meaning, there's room for all those people waiting outside. Inside, is pretty impressive for a Houston nightclub. Big dance floor, plenty of table/booth seating, and a pool. Cocktails servers are dressed in barely-there clothing - who are pretty fast at fetching drinks. Girls are dancing on tables. Cute. Guys are dancing on tables. Not cute. BTW, fellas, please don't do that. Well, unless you're gay - then you get down with your bad self! I was at the front with two other ladies around midnight. The two friends informed me that they won't let us in unless we have a table booked because we aren't "blonde with blue eyes". I wanted to test this. Will, the bouncer in the images, questioned if I had a table, which I said no to. He then said, "Sorry, only letting people with tables in because it is way packed in there". Now are you thinking, maybe they weren't dressed properly? Three girls with dresses and heels. Yes, we were. Once my birthday friend came out, Will completely changed, and we went in without a problem. Guess what though? It was probably 12:20 AM now, and the club was NOT packed. I've seen what "packed" is around the time Clé opened. Of course, it started getting packed around 1 AM. Disappointing to know about the racial management. She's hot, and that's not out of bias. We got there early - at 11:20 or so - and the bouncer said it's tables only until midnight. Well done, self-pats on the back. We're not violent. We return at 12:40am. The bouncer ignores us. We politely tap and say, We're back - is it fine now that it's past midnight? He says, Yeah, in a minute. What is the standard for waiting? The place closes in an hour and a half, there's virtually no line - are you too busy to let us in? Eventually we got in - and the outside is pretty - Vegasy, like others have said. The inside? The tables area around the dance floor looks like a barn, and with people wearing plaid button downs and Patagonia vests, it was hard to convince my fashionable friend from Manhattan that this was Houston's hottest spot. It just so happened that we went on Go Texan Day and saw people wearing cowboy hats and boots. Now she thinks people dress like this all the time. That said, the music was fine and we had a good time. $29 for a gin & tonic and a shot of whiskey was higher than expected, but the crowd (sans cowboy hats) was good looking and everyone danced a lot. So I'd say 1 star for the door issue and 3 stars overall. Whether I'd go again is questionable. An update on my original review. After the owner was contacted, it looks like people were finally let in at around 6pm or later. Which means that if you got there on time, you were expected to wait a minimum of four hours before being let into the "Day Party." At 6pm. I don't know about you but day parties do not start at 6pm. And worst of all, I don't think paying customers should be standing outside in the Houston heat for four hours or more. On top of all of that, Cle expects you to be happy with seeing the bouncers let hundreds of non-ticket holders into the event while you stand like a scammed peasant. We had tables and bottles reserved for 3 of my friend's birthdays. We had full on party bus full of people that are dressed to impress and by the time we got there, they wouldn't let us in....?! Because we weren't on the list?! 3 separate tables and about 20-25 people spread throughout those tables with about 4-5 bottles per table and they still wouldn't let us in? And we saw some selected people going in there like it was a public library. Makes no sense. I think they want a certain clientele there and they don't want people to come there "comfortable". I'm not a club guy by any means. I am not someone who wants to hang out in Midtown on a Saturday either. That being said, my friends brought me here last weekend and it was an amazing time. This is the closest, in my 7 years living in Houston, that it has ever gotten to being a Las Vegas or South Beach club. The service was outstanding, the setup was great, and there were a lot of Houston's prettiest people shaking their stuff. Will I go back? Without a doubt. Clè is a new club that opened recently and right now it feels like the whole Houston is going there. It is located in Midtown, very close to the Metrorail, so you have the option to reach the place also by train. The outside area is nice. There is a pool with sofas and tables, like Las Vegas style, and the music is low, so you can discuss with people. Inside, instead, the music is pretty loud, but it is good music. There is a lot of space but, as I said, around midnight the whole Houston goes there and there is no space even for dancing. Everybody is super dressed-up, like they are going to a wedding, and you can clearly see that a good amount of guys is in desperate-I-wanna-have-fun mode, looking for somebody to bring home for their one-night-standing. So girls, be prepared for this. Also girls are dressed super sexy but, as for guys, there is a good amount of them just looking for fun (and money). So guys, be prepared for this. As golden rule, it will be very difficult for you to find a soul mate in a club, but at Clè it will be basically impossible. If you want to have fun, then Clè is the perfect place for you. To enter in the club is difficult. If you are in a group of guys, you can wait a lot, like an hour, before their will let you in. Instead, group of girls enter almost instantaneously. Drinks are on average in respect to Houston prices, but some of them are like $1 or $2 dollars more. The tables instead are very expensive. Beautiful Vegas-style club! Love the decor, atmosphere, and nice crowd! Nothing wrong with having a classy club in Houston. Come with a positive attitude, dress to impress, and you shouldn't have a problem getting in. I only wish the valet wasn't so expensive, because parking is very limited in this area and the drink prices are a bit steep for Houston ($12-15 for well drinks).
