I called booked a room then I had to cancel over a week before I was to arrive....we'll let me tell you they are incompetent! They said i booked through booking.com and gave me a 13 digit confirmation #(booking.com has 10). Booking.com has no record of it and they still refuse to cancel it. If I get charged it means someone there used my booking. They lie and take your money don't waste your money. My advise is book some where else more reliable. read more

I stayed here because it was the most affordable motel or hotel in the area. Convenient parking. Check-in isn't very convenient and could be difficult for handicapped people. Room was super small and dated. The main problem though was the smell of mold in the room. I was afraid to put the heat on just in case it would send mold spores into the air. Bed was not that comfortable....a bit on the hard side. Pillows, linens and towels cheap quality. Chinese made toiletries. Breakfast was grab and go cheap quality stuff in a tiny space in the office where you check in. It was very crowded when I went. A bit unnerving with Covid still a thing. I ended up at McDonalds down the street for breakfast. read more

We've stayed here a few times while visiting friends over the years and I've always been pleased. On my most recent stay in June 2021 I was a little disappointed that the Irish gentleman (Alex I think?) whom I've always enjoyed running the place has moved on and now this motel is run by a new outfit. The Irish knick-knacks/decorations are still there, but the depth of genuine Irish charm has faded a without his friendly accent and influence. On this visit we rented one of the two bedroom suites. I thought that one of the bedrooms would have two twin beds, but it didn't - slightly disappointing since I was traveling with family members that don't normally share a bed. The front desk was kind and let me down easy when I asked if another accommodation was available. The AC (window units only, no central AC) in one bedroom wasn't working upon check-in. I informed the desk and they offered to repair it immediately which was really appreciated. I declined since it was getting late and I expected the place to cool off soon. The next morning Richard (super nice, very friendly) arranged ahead over the phone and then swapped out the unit with a new one. The suite was a wee-bit wonky. It's basically a big, old house that has been modified into separate apartments - one upstairs and one downstairs. We stayed upstairs. Anyway, the rooms and halls are a bit odd shaped and the floors aren't exactly level. We enjoyed watching a water bottle roll easily across the kitchen. Uneven floors are typical of old New England homes and it really kind of adds to the fun. The kitchen was okay, don't expect any updated appliances and while we had to wash our own dishes - per the posted sign at the sink - there wasn't any sponges so bring your own. The bathroom was fine except for the sink area which was built under an existing staircase. So the region above the sink is cluttered by the bottom of the slanted staircase and a naked lightbulb right at head height. Taller people beware! The decorations, paint scheme and wallpaper in the suite were all sorts of mismatched so if you have a desire for symmetrical style and such you will be disappointed. However, if you think things should be a bit chaotic, amusing, but comfortable then you'll be right a home. So will I be back? Certainly. The Claddagh earns my business. read more

Absolutely blown away by this little hidden gem between Rockland and Camden. The moment you arrive you are greeted with sincere hospitality by the owner. Our 2 bedroom unit was full of comfort, features and space! Memory foam mattress was amazing comfort and unexpected. TVs with plenty of entertainment choices. WiFi for when you need it (free). Verizon has strong LTE coverage here though. We will be back! read more

This place oozes charm and comfort. We checked in late one night and Alex, the owner, met us at the room to make sure we had food and everything we needed. Our room had two nice wingback chairs for relaxing. The bed was probably the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in at a motel/hotel. The tv had a good variety of channels. It was an incredibly comfortable room. I would love to come back here and stay for a week and just relax. It seems very peaceful and family friendly. read more

I recently stayed at Claddagh for four days. The weather was mostly rainy, so I spent more time in the room than I usually would have, but as the purpose of my visit was to dine in some of the area's excellent restaurants, it didn't much matter. My single room was kept immaculately by the very helpful housekeeping staff. The buildings are very well maintained, and the cove is but a short walk away. The room was very small, but completely adequate for one - perhaps two if they're really friendly. My only negative is that the walls are a bit thin. I could hear the neighbors TV, though not loud enough to follow the news that seemed to be on. I definitely will return. It's an excellent value, particularly for the area. read more

Had the opportunity to spend a night at Claddagh this week - it was great. The host and hostess were welcoming, the room was cute and comfy, it was quiet and restful the whole night. We found the room beautifully clean (clean as we've ever seen), tastefully decorated, not large, but cozy and comfortable. Two nice soft chairs and a work table, Plenty of storage drawers, and a brand new bathroom/shower. The morning meal was not fancy but nutritious and satisfying. The surroundings are pleasant (forest and distant view of Glen Cove). The staff/owners/managers were very friendly and accommodating. This is our go-to motel now for visits to that part of Maine. read more

I stopped in at this motel on my way to Bar Harbor, Maine and I'm glad I did. The room was very nice, clean and affordable for singles or couples. The owners are from Ireland and they have decorated the motel with Irish items like gnomes and shamrocks. I suggest you talk to Alex, he was hilarious and full of local knowledge. In the mornings they serve a continental breakfast, perfect for getting your day started. If you have time go to Camden State Park for the views from Mount Battie. It's absolutely beautiful up there and you can drive your car up the mountain. read more

My husband and I stayed here during our New England road trip at the end of June. The Claddagh Motel & Suites was extremely well kept, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable (best motel bed EVER), but the real draw here is the people. Alex was charming, friendly, and helpful - and obviously takes pride in his motel. He was made us feel very welcome and provided a tour and suggestions for sites and food. Breakfast was nothing special, but it filled us up. We didn't use the pool, but it looked very clean. Our room was spacious enough and comfortable. There was a fridge and microwave. The late afternoon sun warmed it up a LOT, but the a/c had no trouble cooling it down. The mattress and bedding were incredibly comfortable!!! VERY impressive for an affordable motel! We didn't notice our neighbors at all. My husband really appreciated the bottle opener in the bathroom! There is a small beach a short walk away - we had a very pleasant walk there in the evening. We enjoyed sitting in the lawn chairs outside our room as the sun went down. We don't have any complaints. It's not a 5 star, luxury place so adjust your expectations accordingly and you'll be just as happy here. read more

This is possibly the nicest motel I have ever stayed in. The owners are delightful, I enjoyed talking to them and the rooms are unlike any I've ever been in. The upgrades are those you make to your home new vinyl windows, a bathroom with a shower and tub anyone would want at home, and the beds have memory foam toppers and spreads with multiple pillow shams that a designer would use. The grounds have multiple seating areas, real propane bbq's and a beautiful pool. I would definitely come here again. They even have a continental breakfast. read more

We stopped here on our motorcycle ride up the coast, and wow were we lucky! What a great stay, from a very warm and friendly owner to the well appointed rooms, it was a perfect example of a wonderful small motel whose owners take meticulous care of their property. Excellent rooms for the price, with great showers, multiple tv channels, free wifi, very friendly owners (both he and his wife are from Ireland), and a wonderful continental breakfast. We stayed in the 2-bedroom apartment with living room and kitchen here for three days. The stairs up to it was a bit narrow and steep. The service by Mr. Gilmore the owner was very friendly and attentive, and the facility was extremely comfortable and well-maintained. The rooms are decorated in a pleasant "country" style and the beds were especially comfortable. In the apartment we had a nice view, a swimming pool next to us, and the motel office served a nice continental breakfast each morning. Free wi-fi- and a coffee maker in the kitchen. A CD player in the living room. Dishes and silverware are provided in the kitchen. I must agree with other Yelpers who say this is one of the best motels they have ever stayed in. What a great find on our way down Maine's coast. Exceptionally friendly hosts, spotlessly clean queen suite with a comfortable bed, full kitchen with plates/ utensils to use, accommodating living area and full bath, a little small but newly remodeled and it totally did the job!! We stayed four nights in the family suite. On the plus side, Alex and Siobahn (sp? Sorry... I think I butchered your name) could not have been warmer or more welcoming. The room rate for a family suite was more than fair. The breakfast was great, the service top notch, lovely pool, and the accommodations mostly excellent. The bedrooms, kitchen and bath were all comfortable, clean, and well appointed. The furniture in the sitting room,, including the sleeper sofa, are probably due for an upgrade. This was the only miss in an otherwise great stay. Excellent wireless coverage as well...don't always expect that in off the road places; it mattered a lot to us, and it was better than home! read more

The Claddagh Motel & Sweets is a very charming little place with great owners that will go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need to make your stay a comfortable one. We stayed here on the Thurs & Fri nights before the 4th of July. This place is a little older but is very well maintained. It appeared that they had the Bathfitters come in and do the showers over as they looked very clean and new. Fresh paint and just the overall decoration of the room was very nice. The free WiFi worked great and was a nice extra. Alex and Siobhan are super friendly and helpful. When I had made a small mistake in booking my 2 nights at different times, Alex called me and made sure we would be in the same room for both nights. The pool area was spotless and had many tables and lounge chairs to lay in. When I ran out of the packets of sugar and powdered creamer for our in room coffee pot, Alex made sure I had plenty of sugar and also offered my some half&half instead of the powdered creamer. That was so appreciated because we all know how bad that powdered creamer can be. We did not make the short walk to the walkway that leads down to the water but I was told by another guest that is was nice. If you are looking for a place to stay in Rockport (only 10 mins. from Rockland) at a great price then the Claddagh is an excellent choice.
