Getting my dress from Claire Pettibone was one of my favorite parts of getting married, and this is coming from someone who originally didn't want to plan a wedding and was going to elope at city hall! This dress convinced me to have an actual ceremony with family and friends because of how gorgeous and special I felt in it. (Not that there's anything wrong with getting married at city hall, I just say this to showcase what a great experience it was for me.) First of all, the location is stunning. It's in a literal castle. The moment you step inside, you're instantly immersed in the romance and beauty of the dresses. I made an appt bc I had seen one of Claire's dresses online and became obsessed with it. I tried it on and even though it was gorgeous, it felt like the dress was wearing me rather than the other way around. That was hard to accept, because my heart had been set on it, but even I knew it wasn't quite right. After trying on a few others, Claire encouraged me to try a different dress in her collection- one I never would have chosen for myself because of how form fitting it was. The second I put it on, I knew it was the dress. The fit was magical and I felt incredible in it. That's a testament to how good Claire is at what she does. She knew what would work best for me even before I did! There was just one problem. The dress was white, and I was adamant about not wearing an all white wedding dress. Claire then suggested doing custom colors on the dress's stunning floral embroidery. It sounded amazing, but I was nervous about what it would cost. Claire said she wouldn't charge me extra for it. My friend and I couldn't believe it. Again, this showcases how much Claire loves what she does. A lot of designers or salespeople would try to upsell you because they know they can, but she was genuinely interested in creating something beautiful based on what I wanted. I had to trust her that it would work out, since the dress would be custom and there was no example of it I could see beforehand, but I decided to go for it. After trying on her gowns I knew the quality was impeccable and the result could only be beautiful. The first fitting proved that. I had heard nightmare stories from friends about how their first fitting made them doubt their decision, but the dress fit wonderfully and there weren't a ton of adjustments to be made. And the custom color was even more stunning than I could have imagined. Oh, and Claire and her team made it all happen within the span of a few months, which speaks to their level of professionalism and expertise. If you've ever planned a wedding you know how anxiety inducing and overwhelming it is. But every time I stepped into this place I felt completely at ease. Claire is so kind and her energy is really calming. She truly cares about her brides and really listens to them. She made the entire process such a joy for me. I couldn't have found a more unique, gorgeous dress that truly represented me. She even made my dress part of her permanent collection afterwards and I felt so honored to be the first to wear it! The little girl in me who used to look through her older sister's bridal magazines and dream about wearing the perfect dress one day felt so seen. Are her gowns expensive? Yes. Was it worth it? One thousand percent. On my wedding day, I walked through my hotel to my first look and women were literally gasping. One actually cried. I have never felt more beautiful. Also considering how fair Claire is with alterations and the fact that she didn't charge me for the custom color, you could easily pay the same price elsewhere for far less. Last thing I have to say is how well made these dresses and accessories are. I wore one of her stunning veils as well, and during my photos in the desert, the wind blew it onto a cactus where it was impaled on the needles, and somehow it still did not rip! My mom and I were stunned. It was so windy the dress could have easily been torn, but it held up. Later, when I got my dress cleaned, the business owner who worked in textiles for 20 years was so impressed that the fabric was handmade silk, not a cheap blend like most dresses today. He said they don't make dresses like this anymore and called it a work of art. He was right. I'm so grateful to Claire for helping me find a one-of-a-kind dress and making me feel so incredible on my wedding day.

Words cannot express how I truly feel about Claire and her team! From the second I walked into her flagship store I completely fell in love. Claire's attention to detail, her artistry, kindness and demeanor made creating my wedding dress a real dream come true! If you're looking for skill, beauty, sophistication and that "WOW" factor look no further. Claire is truly my Fairy God Mother when it came to my wedding dress! I felt beautiful, sexy and regal. Claire's assistant Rachel, was so sweet and helpful during this whole process. She was quick to respond to emails and made changes to the schedule without any hesitation. Her input during the process was extremely helpful. Thank you Claire & thank you Rachel! This was truly an experience I will always cherish!

I thought the experience was just ok. Being a bit older, and my first wedding, I wasn't into all the bells and whistles of a fancy wedding. I flew from SF to the shop; alone. The lady asked me if I was waiting on anyone; uh no I came alone. I guess this isn't normal but whatever. I had them pull two dresses, a formal dress that I liked and the party dress. My limit was $5000.00 but it would have to be perfect and a dress that I could wear again. The expensive one was too scratchy for me; so I tried this dress on and purchased it 'off the rack'. I was happy that it didn't need to be altered (IMO), and I just wanted to leave. I guess it could fit a bit better; but my attitude was, "I'm 57 and it is just a beach wedding, it doesn't have to be perfect." I felt that once I bought a less expensive dress, refused alterations, the stylist was just done. No worries, I wanted to leave as well.

Excellent service. Sadie was so patient, calm, and made expert recommendations based on my frame/personality/venue/engagement ring/vision. Her attention to detail is amazing-- halfway through the fitting she noticed I was getting warm, and cranked the ac without my asking. That is an impressive level of empathy and hospitality, please give her a raise! I fell in love with the Horizon gown, which was her professional recommendation based on my vision of the dream dress. The quality and detail of CP's gowns is remarkable. The trains and backs are painstakingly detailed. Most of the floor gowns are a bridal 10. I fit into most gowns easily and felt relaxed, and celebrated. Thank you for a great day. I will reach out with my decision shortly!

Wow, Claire Pettibone's designs are second to none. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE was blown away by the quality, design, and detail of my wedding gown. I am stunned. I had planned on selling my gown to recoup some of my wedding costs, but I will no longer be doing that! I'm getting my dress preserved and stored correctly so that my future daughter can wear this timeless piece of art. Wow. BLOWN AWAY. Claire and her assistant Rachel were so sweet and patient with me throughout the entire process of finding my gown, designing some added touches, and altering the gown to fit my body perfectly. I could not be happier with the outcome. My experience at Claire's castle will forever be a beautiful memory when I reflect on my wedding. Thank you so much, Claire and Rachel! I appreciate you both so much.

The dress on the left is how it was supposed to look and the dress on the right is how it actually looks!

I am updating my review as when I complained, Claire added more flowers to the dress to cover the seam. Thank You Claire. I bought a wedding dress from here awhile ago and just had it made. The dress looks horrific and does not look anything like the sample wedding dress that I tried on. I went in today for a gown approval and Wendy was so rude and not very educated about these dresses. I told her that was not the dress that I ordered that it isn't supposed to have a huge visible seam in the middle of the dress. I paid $12,000 for this dress and it looks sooooo cheap. I was super upset and asked to speak to the designer and she will not let me speak to her. I refused to take this dress home. Wendy tried making me feel crazy and picky so I am posting a picture of what the dress was supposed to look like and what it actually looks like so you be the judge!!!!!!!!!!! Their dresses do not look the same as the samples you try on and they are super rude and lack integrity!!!!!!!!! Shame on them!

Ask the Community - Claire Pettibone

What is the price range and size range of dresses?

Claire can do custom sizes. That is what she did for me because I am larger on top than I am on the bottom. For a custom dress it is pricier but her dresses start at $2300 I believe.

I was guided to an upstairs hallway with loose organization, was told I could only pick several dresses, and then I only had 30min in a dressing room (I still had a attentive shared staff member to help me get into things). This all worked out totally fine for me, and is a pretty normal sample sale experience in LA, but you should know this going into it! I am an experienced sample sale girlie, but it was also my very first wedding dress place, so the item and time limit made me sweat, especially not yet knowing exactly what I wanted. I tried on three dresses, loved two, and bought my wedding dress here - yes, the first place I went - and ADORED it. 10/10 would do it again. The staff member helping me was awesome - she split her time well, and was a hype woman without being pushy or fake. They wrapped up the dress just as nicely as it I'd bought it full price, and even asked if I wanted to take a "said yes to the dress" photo. The dress was just under $800 after tax, and the other one I loved was just under $900. It needed a little work - the straps were dirty and loosely seen in some places, an aglet was missing, and the lace needed a steam badly. Overall, however, extremely worth it! I am so happy I came here & found my dream dress.

We drove over 30 minutes, but when we arrived we were told by the attendant Mario "Sorry, the person that booked you made a mistake and we actually can't help you. Sorry - nothing we can do! ". He was so dismissive and didn't even make an attempt to resolve the matter, squeeze us in, or call the person that made the mistake to see if they could rectify the problem. It was like he couldn't be bothered that we were inconvenienced on what should be a special day for the bride to be. Terrible customer service, especially when he admitted the mistake was made on their end. Totally different experience with the next store we tried. Modern Bride was just a few blocks away. We called and they said no problem, we will see you right away. Lovely personalized service and we actually found a stunning dress! Problem solved.

Since the Asian employee was busy, the Latina employee initially helped us. However, when two other customers walked in, the Latina employee stopped assisting us and focused on them instead. We were left waiting without anyone acknowledging us or checking if we needed help. It felt like the other customers were receiving much better service. I had already tried on a couple of hair pieces and didn't want to remove them myself because I was afraid of damaging them, so I waited for someone to assist me. Once the Asian employee finished with her customer, I asked for help. She was kind, patient, and helped me choose a hair piece. I had also planned to purchase earrings, but after the experience, I decided not to. I ended up purchasing only the hair piece. While the quality was nice, I personally found the items to be overpriced. A funny part of the experience was that the customers the Latina employee left us for didn't end up buying anything, despite her providing them with much better customer service than she provided us. I don't know why our experience was so different, but it honestly made me wonder if she had judged us based on appearances because we weren't given the same level of attention or courtesy. If you're shopping with a budget under $100, this may not be the right place for you, and it could save you time to shop elsewhere. Unfortunately, the lack of acknowledgment and inconsistent customer service left a bad impression. Because of that, I don't plan on returning.

Everything felt very prepared for my appointment, I didn't feel rushed or limited. What surprised me the most & really impressed me and my fiancé was the way they were both attentive, kind, professionals and knew their styles. They picked a dress out for me on top of the dresses I had in mind and at the end of the appointment I left picking their recommendation because that's how amazing of an eye and taste for bridal fashion they have. How talented is it to know a brides taste and look without the bride even knowing herself. I was truly blown away by their selection. The gowns I tried on were all Maggie Sottero and all gorgeous. Their pick for me ended up being mine and my fiancés favorite, nothing else topped it. Checkout was easy, prices are affordable for the high quality , free alterations with a dress purchase and options for some customizations. The store itself was very clean , uplifting , it felt upscale with all the beautiful lighting , changing rooms & seating areas. Parking is easy to find with street /meter parking or a few parking lots nearby. We said yes to the dress thanks to Esmeralda and America, we can't thank a better dream team ! Horrible experience from the moment I walked in…read more My mom and I walked in smiling, excited for my bridal appointment. Instead of being welcomed, the front desk staff laughed, and one of them asked, "What are you doing here?" I replied, "I have an appointment," and they all laughed again. Looking back, I should have walked out then, but I decided to give them a chance. I was told I had to wait because no one was available to help me, even though there were four staff members standing at the front. I was told to look through the racks for dresses while I waited. Since it was my first time shopping for a wedding dress, I didn't know the process. Later, I noticed signs everywhere saying not to walk through the aisles, so my mom and I stood to the side and waited. After about 20 minutes, someone finally came to help us. She immediately asked which dresses I wanted to try on. I explained that I had no idea because this was my first bridal appointment and I was hoping for some guidance. She seemed visibly annoyed. She pulled a few dresses, and one of them was absolutely beautiful--I genuinely loved it. However, the overall attitude made me uncomfortable. At one point, she told me the dress was around $5,000 and then asked, "Can you afford it?" I replied, "Yes, I can." After that, I noticed other staff members gathering around and suddenly walking by to compliment how beautiful the dress looked on me. It felt very insincere. Even though I loved the dress, I decided not to purchase it. Buying a wedding dress is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and I didn't feel confident moving forward with a boutique where I felt unwelcome and judged. I politely ended my appointment and left. As I was walking out, I heard one of the employees say, "I told you they weren't going to buy it." That confirmed I had made the right decision. Thankfully, I found my dream dress at a wonderful bridal boutique in Costa Mesa, where I was treated with kindness, respect, and genuine excitement. The difference in customer service was night and day. Every bride deserves to feel welcomed, supported, and celebrated. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here.

The end product was satisfactory, but not without several mistakes and unnecessary stress. Be prepared to be on TOP of the associates as the communication is nonexistent otherwise. While Angel was lovely, her sales associates need training. I wish I could have corresponded with Angel directly, as her associates seemed to not know what was going on/did not communicate. On 8/31/24, I said yes to the dress after having exhausted 6-7 bridal shops in Phoenix. I finally felt a sense of relief. I paid in FULL that day. I signed the paperwork for my dress to be ready in March 2025, two months before my wedding. The next steps were for Yesenia to send a sketch of my dress based on the designs I wanted, within a few weeks. I waited several weeks and when I didn't get anything, I reached out to Enoch (who is no longer with them). He assured me he would get on Yesenia to send the sketch. I didn't get A sketch until 11/20/24, nearly 3 months after I had already paid for my dress, and it wasn't even a sketch of my dress! I didn't get a sketch of MY dress until 11/25/24 and it looked like something she drew in 5 minutes. Very anticlimactic. After A LOT of back and forth on the finer details, I asked if the dress was ready to START production on 12/5/24. I received no response. I sent another email on 12/9/24, no response. I finally booked a flight to LA and SHOWED UP IN PERSON on 12/14 and Yesenia looked surprised to see me. She stated that she had responded production had already started on my dress, and she had sent an email but it must not have gone through. OKAY. I started emailing her again in February asking about the status of my dress: 2/3, 2/15, 2/22, 3/1. 3/1 Yesenia stated she would send me photos of my dress and book my first fitting. She never did send me photos of my dress. I had my first fitting on 3/16/25. I was expecting for all my fittings and the dress to be finalized by this point, but I was just happy there was a dress at all. The leg slit I had asked to be on the right side, was on the left side instead. Because of the way the dress was designed, it could not easily be fixed. They did not apologize for the error at any point. They did offer to REMAKE the dress, however, with my wedding less than 2 months away (5/8/25) and the TERRIBLE communication, I did not want to take that stress or risk. I had also asked for pearl buttons on the overskirt but received satin buttons. Yesenia replied that production had responded on 2/24 (to her) that pearls cost extra; at no point had she communicated this to me. She stated she would have them swapped out for the pearl buttons. On 3/27/25, I sent all the photos of the details I wanted for my veil to Yesenia. Admittedly, there were a lot of details- I wanted a cathedral veil, scallop trim with beaded edge, and for our names and the date to be embroidered. Knowing my wedding date, and that I had to leave the COUNTRY at the beginning of May, Yesenia could have prefaced that all these details would take a month+ to make- but she never stated any sort of time frame. In April, I asked if the original alterations were completed on my dress. Lots of unanswered texts. I had my 2nd fitting on 4/26, the WEEKEND before I was leaving the COUNTRY for my wedding. Luckily the dress came together, even though the leg slit was wrong. The veil was not ready for me to take home that day. Yesenia stated she could have it shipped for $8 or next day shipping for $33. I stated that I would not be paying for shipping over text, and I reiterated this again during the 2nd fitting. She agreed to wave the cost. The veil shipped on 4/28 and I received it on 4/30, a mere 3 days before leaving the country. Luckily the veil was beautiful, albeit the embroidery was smaller than I expected- but everything was spelled correctly (a point I reiterated multiple times via text). At the end of the day, everything turned out OKAY but it certainly was unnecessarily stressful and unenjoyable. I didn't have the dress of my dreams (because of the leg slit on the wrong side- and I didn't utilize the leg slit on the left side) which is crushing when you're promised it and PAYING for it. I don't recommend Lucky Brides for your peace of mind.

The store refused to accommodate this, stating that the first person either had to use her own appointment or forfeit it entirely, with the other girl becoming a walk in or waiting for her later slot. Even though the appointment time was already reserved and we were only asking to transfer it to the next person in our group, they would not allow it. This was all prior to the appt actually starting. What was even more disappointing was the customer service. The tall gentleman at the front desk was dismissive and unfriendly throughout the interaction. We stepped outside briefly to discuss what we wanted to do, and when we walked back in, we could hear him loudly complaining about our interaction. That was incredibly unprofessional and made us feel unwelcome. We ultimately cancelled both appointments. At no point did this establishment make us feel welcome or valued as potential customers. There are so many wonderful, kindhearted bridal boutiques on this street that genuinely want to help brides find their dress. I would recommend visiting one of those instead.
