Was in the area early morning and decided to try breakfast here. Place was smaller than we expected with only two small tables for two and a few window seats, but while there was a steady stream of customers, most appeared to grab take out orders so the cafe never felt too crowded. I tried the classic egg sandwich (eggs, sautéed spinach, tomato, beet tahini on brioche) - it was okay, I like the ingredients and it felt like a healthy breakfast option but it was a bit bland. Husband tried the egg in a pita and he thought it was fine, also somewhat underseasoned. He got a large coffee and also deemed it "okay". I was still hungry after the sandwich so I got the custard pastry the cashier recommended. It was average; the pastry wasn't flaky and each bite doughier than I expected. I wished I could have tried the guava croissant but they were sold out. Service was nice and the menu has a good variety of options. Perhaps worth trying other selections if we happen to be in the area again. read more

Super cozy spot for delicious breakfast and pastries! I had the guava croissant simply because I don't see that flavor often. Get it warmed up. I could've eaten five of these. The Western breakfast wrap, so with ham, peppers, cheese, was very well made and flavorful. This cafe is on the corner of E 73rd and York Ave. It's cute and cozy with some high tables, a couch, tables for two and a few. Theres a beautifully painted art wall which really brightens the space right up. I ordered the mushroom queash, which came with a side salad. The original dressing wasn't my favorite so I asked for something else. Chimichurri was one of the options and I went with that. Normally wouldn't eat a salad with chimichurri sauce but this one was really good for both items. I took that first bite of mushroom with the sauce and WOW that combo was delicious. Every bite after that had chimichurri sauce. The spot was quiet, good for working, networking and to just enjoy some coffee. Oh I heard their matcha is really good as well. I have to say, the Americano was excellent great coffee & they went the extra mile adding a touch of foam (I drink it with milk). The prices are good & the staff were helpful & friendly. It was 2pm when I visited and most baked goods were wrapped in plastic, I suspect to maintain freshness. Not the best for display but I appreciate the intention and did not get the sense it was from a previous day. The menu was surprisingly large & The space is quite small. Thankfully today is a comfortable autumn day so I am seated in a wicker chair with side table. If in the neighborhood again I would consider returning. read more

Yummy breakfast sandwiches Considering I live right by this spot, I was amazed that I never stopped by to check it out. We got the classic egg sandwhich and the bacon egg and cheese. Both were scrumptious. Eggs were fluffy and folded into neat little stacks. The classic came with tomato egg and spinach. The bacon egg and cheese came with a generous portion of bacon and filled with cheese and mayo. Both were served on a fresh brioche. Service was fast too, came out within 10 minutes. Amazing little cafe offering delicious, made to order food. We stopped by for lunch and tried their chipotle chicken sandwich, Israeli chicken pita wrap and a mushroom + potato bouraka. All were DELICIOUS. Sandwich was in delicious soft bread, great juicy and well seasoned chicken, nice accoutrements and a perfectly spicy chipotle mayo. Israeli wrap was equally delicious. The bouraka was super flavorful as well. Beyond the food, the staff were really lovely. Owner Leo is super friendly and invited us back for dinner. Disappointing Experience -- Wouldn't Recommend We arrived right at opening (7:00 AM) and still waited 35 minutes for our food. Despite being among the first to sit down, at least a dozen to-go orders were prioritized ahead of us. When our food finally arrived, the pancakes were disappointing -- not worth the wait -- and we were given just one tiny syrup for three large pancakes. The egg sandwich, however, was the one redeeming item. We asked about our order multiple times and were told it "takes a long time for the pancakes to cook," which didn't feel like a satisfying explanation given the circumstances. Overall a very poor experience and very low food quality. Will not return. read more

The marinated chicken was incredible and the vegetables all added a level of depth to the dish. The rice itself was okay, but the flavor really did it for me. Would definitely go again for it. 4/5. I ordered the mozzarella sandwich and added chicken and my husband got the Buffalo chicken sandwich. They were both very good. The only thing that was disappointing was that the mozzarella sandwich didn't actually come with fresh mozzarella. It was more like deli sliced mozzarella cheese. read more

Claire's Kitchen Cafe was brought to my attention when I had coffee at the Harlem location. Today was a beautiful day to walk there for lunch. Claire's to me is the perfect example of "you get what you pay for ". As soon as the nice employee behind the counter told me the Boureka was spinach and feta I knew what I wanted. I admit when he said the price was $7.50 I was surprised. It was expensive to me. Then when he added tax it was more than my budget can handle on a regular basis. But, when I ate it, the taste was so so so fresh and delicious. The feta was dropping out of it. They heated it for me and I had a seat outside where there was more space. I also grabbed a couple of the samples for my desert. Wow, were they delicious. The chocolate muffin is tiny but it's gluten free. I didn't even want to know the price! I'm recommending because every bite was absolutely delicious! The employee and owner were very nice. I'm afraid it's not going to be a comfortable place to sit to eat in the Winter. Maybe if I get there very early and sit at the counter by the window? We will see....... read more

Came upon Claire's by chance. I was hangry after a hospital visit so needed a substantial lunch. So happy my bf and I chose this cafe because the food ( and staff) went beyond my expectations! I had the BBQ chicken with cheddar cheese sandwich on ciabatta bread. My bf had the Chipotle chicken sandwich. Coffee is fresh. The gentleman behind the register (owner?) gave us a free croissant filled with chai seeds and several berry filled little donuts. To die for! We will definitely stop by again. My only complaint was the amount of dressing provided, will ask for extra next time. I also like the option of ordering a halloumi salad, which is so hard to find in the US. Quiet and unassuming Claire's is a nice little option for breakfast, lunch or snacks. The menu is written out on 3 walls and it's simple yet varied. Service is very good, the guy behind the counter could not have been nicer. The Turkey sandwich I ordered was made fresh, warm with a great garlic butter, mixed greens, pickled onions and cheddar cheese. While I was waiting for the sandwich I was offered an empanada, which I have to say was a pleasant surprise. Flaky crust, nice filling. The chocolate croissant I brought home for the child looks delicious. I'll be back, next time earlier, want to try the avocado toast, and try the coffee. read more
