Hot chocolate and macarons

Stumbled into Café August on a sunny Friday and lowkey felt like I teleported to a cute European street café-major vibes! Outdoor seating was chef's kiss perfect for the weather, but all tables were all taken already. Enter Mr. Doggo + Solo Dude, who graciously handed over his spot to our squad of four. Big mood: kindness exists! Shoutout to the French waitstaff who instantly brought an extra table for Mr. Solo- talk about next-level hospitality and brainpower. We sipped iced lattes, hot chocolate, and munched on macarons, no food ordered but still got to chill like royalty. So chill, so European-no rush, just good vibes and great service. Aude, you're a legend! If you want a cozy spot with that Upper East Side charm but European soul, this is the move. 10/10 would café again. #CafeGoals #UpperEastSideFinds

Ham & Gruyere Panini

Pretty solid French cafe! Came here for brunch on Sunday without a reservation and was able to sit immediately. Ordered the ham & Gruyère panini with a side salad which was pretty good. Service was a little slow since there's only one waiter but overall friendly!

Amazing place great food and great staff. First time here and definitely will come back. The atmosphere is like a cafe in Paris. Definitely check it out.

Street view

This is such a delightful little place to stop for a leisurely meal out on the sidewalk. The waiter was amazing and so polite. It's on a quiet street perfect for some people watching and enjoying the quaint sights.

BUT, my husband and I recently took a trip to Paris and I also love pain aux raisins. To our delight, Cafe Bilboquet has those too, so my friend and I each had a small coffee and a pain aux raisins. The pastry was as good as any that my husband and I had in Paris! I've also had lunch here with a couple of other friends in recent months. They have a good variety of pretty authentic French sandwiches and some quiches, eggs, etc. Not inexpensive, but the food is top-notch. You order at the counter, then move up to the cashier, tell them what your order is and pay for it. If you're lucky, as we were around 9:45 this morning, you'll get one of the little round tables where you can sit and chat and relax; in good weather there are some tables outside as well; a lovely boulangerie or patisserie experience!

Upon getting closer to the door, I learned it's part of Le Bilboquet restaurant on the same block. It wasn't too crowded when I visited on a Tuesday mid-afternoon. Every table except 1 was full, but most people were heading outside on such a beautiful day with their drinks and pastries. The cafe is very cute and French. They have so many pastries I couldn't decide, so I ordered a pain au chocolat and tea. They serve Harney & Sons teas. This is a lovely spot, and I'll return to try more.
