As others have noted, there is no sign saying "seat yourself" and the waitresses don't seem to have assigned tables so no one knows if you are being taken care of or not (chances are not). White wine was warm, and they fixed it by adding ice. Food took forever and was cold and not very good anyway. Waitresses seemed very stressed out, and I don't blame them. Went there on Saturday night for advertised steak special. Time was 6:30PM. Told two of three steaks were sold out. Server disappeared for 10 minutes and when tried to order steak told they were ALL sold out.Would up ordering burger which was FAIR at best. SERVICE WAS TERRIBLE. Server just disappeared; must have had second job elsewhere. People at next table said it was their third time there (and last) and they had reson why steak was not available. My most recent visit to Clancy's was, to put it nicely, a below average experience. My family and I have been coming here since we moved to the area just over four years ago. We come here now for the convience not the food/service. Last night we ordered two filets (Saturday night steak special), medium and medium well, both came well done and were not good! My salad was what looked like an expired bag of romaine lettuce thrown in a bowl. It was slimy and gross. I ended up not eating it. The kids grilled cheese was a fine choice, cooked to perfection and delicious! Overall disappointed with the food and service, which is always terrible! We had to continue going to the bar for more water, utensils and the check And to top it off we we're charged for an additional drink! read more

Website said kitchen closes at 9:30. Showed up at 8:53 and was told by a waitress they were closed and couldn't make me a to go order. A little odd given the stated closing time, the "open" sign being on, and the unlocked doors. Was upset until I went to one of the other restaurants she suggested. Just left Clancys, hate to rip them but their service is terrible. We have eaten their several times and the food is always good, but their service seems to get worse rather than better. Examples: It took about 15 minutes to get our menu after being seated Waited another 10 minutes to get our drinks After getting our food we asked 3 different people for silverware never returned with any so we got up and found our own By the way, only order the prime rib sandwich if your not too hungry, it is actually only a half sandwich, more like a snack size than a meal size read more

Unfortunately really great food but when I told them that I had to kill a ROACH at my booth they said they have never seen a bug before and refused discount our food. Even showed us a receipt for the recent extermination. It's apparent there is a problem. I have been here a few times and it has been great until this evening, I will never be back. read more

Tuesday night is fried chicken, Wednesday is rib night. That takes care of our mid-week meals! If it's not too hot or humid we like to eat outside. Wow. I am really disappointed in this place, which is painful because it is so very close to my house and having local eateries within walking distance...that fail is a special kind of pain. At any rate. The beverages here are not cold, the waitresses are actually 10-15 degrees colder. Speaking of which, the wait staff is not personable at all, you walk in for the first time and just sort of aimlessly wander around the place and try to find someone who actually works here. But that's all cool, I'm used to bad servers, people rarely develop or pay attention to attitudes of their workforce and I can deal with that. What really kind of set me off on this rant; advertised hours open till 10PM, I walk in at 9:20 to see if they will do a TO GO order of an appetizer. Nope. Kitchen closed 40 minutes prior to advertised hours. And the waitress working tonight looked like she was glad to get out of there and not sure if she just said that to not to have to work one single minute longer or what. It was probably better for the owners that they close as soon as possible so that wait staff didn't interact with anyone else. Sorry for the slam owners, but you guys earned this one. read more

Great Irish Pub! We love their food... my favorite is the brisket sandwich.

Yelp made me select at least one star in order to post this, but Clancy's DOES NOT deserve ANY stars. Planned to celebrate St Patrick's Day early with dinner at 5 pm the night before-- and left without ever ordering. There is no sign indicating it is a "seat yourself" establishment so lots of awkward standing with others until husband went to the bar to ask. We had to clear our own table to sit and then continued to sit as servers passed by. No menu, no drink order, nothing. Husband did pass the time by instructing the line that kept building at the door that they needed to seat themselves. Finally inquired about the strange server behavior at nearby table where several women were seated-- they said they waited at least 20 minutes before they were able to get the attention of a server who then never bothered to return for their order so one of them took it to the bar. After another portion of our lives passed, husband flagged down a server who greeted him by saying, "no one waited on you yet?" Then she dropped a slip of paper about the size of an index card "printed with today's menu," which included about 6 items. I asked if they were not serving fish and chips and she said, "we didn't fire up the fryers today." Really?!?! On St Patrick's Day weekend? So that was the last straw and we left without ordering. However, we did not leave early enough to miss seeing our neighbor's table served in styrofoam containers. Classy. So, management of Clancy's, I have a few tips for you: (1) post sign that says "seat yourself," (2) leave a little stack of little index card me on each table with instructions to deliver to the bar, and (3) take a page out of McAllister's book and add little metal stands to the table tops to direct servers. Honestly. My 6-year-old has better business skills when she plays "restaurant" with her toy kitchen. Next time we want Irish fare, we will go to LLewellyn's. read more

My wife loves the burgers. Just had the steak special, good value. Small, cozy. Plenty of beer on tap. Nice outside with fireplace. Very casual, local folks. Onion rings/fries are good. Side dishes are a bit weak. read more

Went to "All you can eat" rib night which is actually just $1 dollar rib night. Still a good deal but complete B.S. from an advertising perspective . Got there at 6:30 and they were out of Ribs! My brother and I discovered this place by accident a few years ago, and now have a monthly tradition of going here for dinner and a few pints. With a butcher shop in the front, Clancy's is guaranteed to have the best cuts of meat available, and their cheeseburgers are in my opinion the best in St. Louis. With their secret spice rub, and served on a french loaf, I am constantly disappointed when this place is not mentioned on a top 10 list for St. Louis Hamburgers. If you are ever in the Chesterfield area, you must stop by this place! read more

I really like Clancy's, I think their food and atmosphere are pretty good. My husband and I have been a few different times I think only on Friday nights, and they've never been too packed. I've had their fish & chips, which were very good and large portioned. My husband's had their burger & Reuben, and he enjoyed both. The service in general is just so-so (one of their waitresses is rather emotionless) and their menu is limited, but we've never had bad food. I do wish they had a few more beer selections on tap. I'd recommend this place to anyone in the Ballwin area looking for a low-key date night or outing with friends. read more

We have been going to Clancy's for years. Today was the first time we were disappointed in both our meal and the service. Our food was not hot when it came out - I think our server forgot it was sitting there waiting to be delivered to our table. When I mentioned this to our server she did not seem interested in making it right. Overall, our server was very inattentive - I think she knew she was the one who forgot to bring us our food! Other than this - we have always enjoyed the food and atmosphere (we prefer patio seating) and have had good service. read more

Free for all seating, but there was no sign saying that. I had to stop a waitress to ask about where to sit. After we were at a table, it was 10 minutes before someone came to ask about what drink we wanted. When we ordered, is when I was disappointed. I asked for the corned beef and cabbage. They said they were out (7:30pm). The waitress suggested a fried chicken meal and when I asked for drumsticks, she said they were out. I ended up with the tilapia thinking that if we didn't have to wait for 30 mins already we would have left. Tilapia was fine. Nothing spectacular. My husband enjoyed his corned beef sandwich. The onion ring side ended up as onion strings. In general, I'm disappointed because of the wait and the fact the food I wanted was out - choice 1 and choice 2! I won't be returning. read more

Burger is decent. However, the service is terrible! We have been here four times because it is near our home. However, each time the service gets worse! I think we have been to Clancy's for the last time. It took an hour and a half to get three burgers. Then another thirty minutes for the waitress to come back! I do not recommend. read more

My wife and I stopped in a week ago Wednesday August 17. I'm 6'3" and my wife is beautiful, in other words we don't usually go unnoticed. We sat down in the front room while as at least 3 servers walked by pretending not to notice us. We kept saying to ourselves, "okay, we'll give them 5 more minutes. The dinner Rush was over and servers were actually cleaning tables all around us. There were no customers waiting, so apparently cleaning tables to sit there unused was more important than taking our order. To add insult to injury, a young lady who worked there was talking to the table next to us and they asked her where her mom (manager?) was tonight? She said she was running the store on Wednesdays now! They then sat for 20 minutes waiting to pay their bill all the while wondering where mom was! It was not busy, there was plenty of staff to take our order, but it appeared no one had the slightest clue of how to render the basic task of taking an order. I live directly across the street in Claymont subdivision and frequent this restaurant 3 or 4 times a month...not anymore. Mom, your daughter is costing you loyal customers and money. read more
