I had a very disappointing experience. When I made my appointment, I was quoted $55 for a gel fill. When it was time to pay, my total was $71. I was charged an extra $10 for cutting my nails and $6 for color, but none of those additional charges were disclosed before the service. I was shocked by the final price. The quality of the manicure was also disappointing. The nail shape was not what I asked for, and the gel polish was not applied close to my cuticles, even though I specifically requested it. Because of the large gap near the cuticles, my nails looked like they had already grown out for 10 days immediately after I left the salon. I don't mind paying for quality work or additional services when I'm informed in advance, but customers deserve transparent pricing and attention to the details they request. For a long time, I struggled to find a salon in the DMV that combined professionalism, fair pricing, and high-quality nail art in a consistent way. This place truly delivers. The technicians here are skilled, the nail art is stunning, and the environment is clean, welcoming, and friendly. I recently had a gel manicure and pedicure with a custom design done for the G-Dragon concert, and it came out absolutely beautiful. I've been to Clarendon Nails & Spa three times now, and overall, it's been a great experience. My first visit was with Ivy, and she was great! She gave me some of my favorite nails ever with the perfect almond shape, and I still show everyone that set of nails as my reference for how I love my nail shape. Because of Ivy, I knew I had to come back; however, the second visit didn't go as well. The technician I had wasn't very friendly and didn't do my nails the way I wanted, which was disappointing. But I decided to give them another shot, and I'm so glad I did. Most recently , I walked in one afternoon, and they took me immediately. Vicki did my nails, and she was the sweetest. She gave me an acrylic fill with a cat eye finish, and I love how it turned out. Despite that one off experience, the quality from Ivy and Vicki will definitely keep me coming back. had a terrible experience at Clarendon Nail & Spa. I booked a full set with acrylic, which I've been getting for years, and even showed inspo nails. Helen immediately tried to upsell me to builder gel, and when I declined, she became rude and dismissive. She refused to shape the acrylics to my nail bed, got loud, and the result looked nothing like what I asked for. The polish was uneven, with bubbles and streaks, and there was polish left all over my cuticles. The salon also seemed unsanitary, with the same tools used on multiple customers, and my acrylics chipped after just one day. To make matters worse, they don't accept American Express, yet no sign was posted until checkout. Overall, this was an awful experience and I won't be returning. I recommend trying Mimosa in DC or Bliss Nails in Arlington instead. read more

if i could put 0 stars i would. this salon is completely unprofessional and i left BLEEDING. i booked online the day before for a full set with tiffany. the salon did not tell me tiffany was unavailable and i was serviced by vicki, not realizing it wasn't tiffany until the service concluded (i have been to this salon previously but not serviced by tiffany). as vicki applied the acrylic there was a noticeable gap between my cuticle and the acrylic. i asked for the acrylic to be closer to my cuticle. vicki denied this and said she needed to blend with my natural nail and continued. i didn't see until the gel polish was on that the acrylic was applied super thin and FLAT. no curve and no apex - just sticking out straight. i was not happy with this and when i decided to switch designs i asked her nicely if it was possible to fix it. she said no and that it would take 1-2 appointments for her to understand what i wanted. i stayed silent and wasn't super happy. vick then said she would fix it but repeatedly made me feel bad for asking and i could tell she was shit talking me to other technicians in the salon. she applied more acrylic on top but did not shape an apex or curve. there are just globs of acrylic on my nails. not to mention, she cut me and/or broke skin with a file and drill bit FOUR times. i left in pain and unhappy with the service. i called the salon this morning and explained the situation, asking for a refund. the individual on the other end refused a refund citing "company policy" and only that they would attempt to fix it. i spent $100 on this set including tip, have multiple cuts bleeding, and the tips of my fingers are swollen. they refused to refund me and i will never return to this salon. read more

Pros: - I stopped by on a Friday late afternoon with no appointment, and I only waited about 10 minutes before I was seen. - There was a vast color selection for gel manis. - Overall nice atmosphere. Cons: - I wasn't told to wash my hands even after I asked about it, so some of the dust from my nail clean up is still under the gel polish (visible bumps under the polish). - I don't think there was much attention to detail. Overall my experience was OK, and I don't mind going back. I think I would just be more vocal about what I do or don't want done on my nails. I had such a fun time at Clarendon Nails & Spa this morning!! Everyone who works here is so nice and very friendly!! My appointment was at 10:30 and even as I arrived a little bit early they were ready for me! Plenty of colors to choose from! I chose a fun light green color, I always like to mix it up. Lucky was my nail tech and she did a phenomenal job on my pedicure! First off, she was so kind to me and she was very easy to chat with! She has a great personality!! She was meticulous with cutting down and shaping my nails. And when I chose a light color she added an extra coat of polish to make sure it wasn't transparent or streaky. I am so happy with how my toes turned out!! What a beautiful job! The salon itself was so clean and the pedicure chairs were sooo comfortable!! Don't put nail techs on the floor who openly admit they don't know what they're doing! I came in for a dipping service. The girl took 30 minutes to get the dip off and eventually had to get help from another tech. She filed my nails so horribly I told her to stop. I had to then get tips added, because my naturally long nails were filed short and horrendously uneven. The tech admitted she's not good at filing nails. I'm still pissed my natural nails are ruined. They take forever to grow! I get a new tech. She's good, but literally one day after my appointment and my nail is separating from the tip. I just got my nails done for the second time at this place and I am once again pleased with my experience. My first time, I got a gel manicure and was impressed with the level of detail Kelly gave to my manicure. She recommended the color for me after I said I wanted a light pink and I got so many compliments on my nails. It lasted for over three weeks! This time I got a spa pedicure and gel manicure by Kelly and it looks great. She took the time to make sure the pedicure and manicure looked good and that I liked it. Everyone who works there has a good sense of the different polish colors they have and what would look good on you. The environment is very friendly and pleasant with massage chairs and TV's and music. Clarendon Nails and Spa This place was awful. Tracy and Ivy did not take care of me at all. They bribed me into making a review before the service was done for a 10 percent discount. But the nails and toes were horrible. They charged me $140 AFTER the supposed discount and they did not do my nails well at all. They tried to tell me my nails were crooked or something which is bs because my usual nail shop always makes my nails straight and neat and for cheaper. This place scammed me and then they made my French tip super thin and ugly and the nails were thick and lumpy and horrible. I left the place crying because these women were very rushed and rude and she didn't care that I didn't like my nails, she just wanted my money and for me to get out. I will never EVER come here again. The first two pictures were what I asked for and the photos with toes and hands together are the trash job they did for me. Horrible horrible service. I feel like I threw money in the trash. I have never regretted going to a nail salon more than I did today. I wish I never went here. Looks like a 2nd grader did my nails. I've gone to a number of manicure places in the area, and this really is the best one with the strongest technicians. They're fastidious and maniacal about making sure you're happy with your nails. There is no job that's too complicated or difficult, and there is some real artistry here. I also appreciate that the place is always clean, the prices are reasonable and fair, and the nail technicians are pleasant and patient. I'm also someone who doesn't have a lot of time to dawdle and I'm in and out quickly. Many of the women who work there came from professional and ritzy spas, but this place allows them more flexibility with their schedules. So, you're getting their expertise at half the price. Update: I got a gel manicure, and every nail was lifting after 2-3 days. I called and they said they would fix the ones that were really bad at no cost, which I think is pretty standard but is still nice to offer. When I went back in, my original nail tech (who was not the one helping me this time) made a point of approaching me and telling me it was my fault for "washing my hands too much". It seems really strange to me for someone who touches other peoples' hands so often to ask them to wash their hands less! Oh well, I won't be returning. Good luck to anyone who does! read more

I had an okay experience at Clarendon Nails & Spa, but I ultimately left bummed out about my manicure. I showed the nail tech several pictures of what I wanted, and she said she would be able to do it. I had shorter nails, so I needed a little bit of a nail extension. I wanted clear nail beds and lavender french mani tips. If she was not going to be able to do this, I would have appreciated knowing upfront, and I would have picked a plain color for the full nails. What I wanted and what I got were vastly different. She ended up putting a flesh-colored opaque layer of dip powder on my nail beds to cover the nail extensions. She did not file down the dip enough, so the nails look chunky and bumpy. I felt like I had these unnatural-looking, thick nails. Total with the normal pedicure and manicure, I spent over $100. The pedicure was fine, but due to the bad manicure, I do not think I will be going back here. read more

I wanted to like this place, but I don't like a side of rude with my nail service. Pros: Nailed turned out nice Cons: The nail tech was rude. I asked her to make my nails the same length which is pretty typical requests and she not just annoyed, but made a snarky comment. :/ Also, a mentee call me because she is struggling with a few personal issues. Although I had a mask on, kept my voice down and turn away from her while trying to provide advice, she started speaking very loudly in a foreign language, so loud my mentee couldn't hear me. :/ It felt like she was going it to be petty bc she didn't like me on the phone. Passive aggressive much?! When my sister came in to get her nails done, they kept trying to Upsell her on a ton of services she didn't need or want. She politely declined and decided to go somewhere else since there are a ton of options in the area. They charged me $15 to take off my acrylic nails, which is the highest I've ever paid, but at least she told me in advance. Ultimately, maybe it was the nail technician I had, but she seemed annoyed to be doing my nails and to hate her job. That's really not the right attitude for a service based business. read more

I never post on yelp but I felt compelled to after my experience. I just moved to the Arlington area and needed a place to get my nails done. This place had a lot of reviews and most of them seemed pretty good so I decided to check it out. From the second I walked and I noticed it was dirty. Where you put your hands, there was already somebody's dust from their nails before me, so it clearly wasn't clean. I picked out a navy dip to get on my nails. The lady started doing my nails, I noticed that she was going extremely fast. Once she started doing the powder, I noticed that the color was BLACK. I told her that I did not want black and that I had picked out navy. SHE GASLIT ME and said they would be navy at the end and it was hard to tell with the dip at the start. I got to the very end of my nails and they were in fact BLACK. Now I look GOTH. I told her that I didn't like them and she just simply didn't care. She told me that she was not going to fix them and that they were navy. She continued to gaslight me even though they were visibly black. (I've shown 10 people since and they say it is black also so I know I'm not crazy) She also didn't even shape them correctly and I had to use her nail file to shape the nails myself because of how uneven they were. Anyways, I actually hate this place and would not recommend it to anyone. It was a total waste of $60 and NOT EVEN TO MENTON that they were not NICE?? they were not even NICE.
