This is my second review of Clark's. My first review posted in Sept. 2016 was a "D" due to a rodent problem that returned as a result of their lack of proper servicing with change in staff, etc. I was contacted by regional management and local management immediately after posting my review and decided to give them a chance to fix the problem and earn my continued business. They came out to assess my property and put a plan in place. Additional traps and bait stations were added and repairs were made to areas of entry. After a couple months of monitoring, the problem seems to be under control again. I am updating this review because Clark's responded immediately to my poor review and they have been very responsive to address the problem. They waived 2 months service fee and made the necessary repairs and adjustments to my service schedule -and now the rodent problem seems to be under control again. It's only been two months, so time will tell if they continue to effectively service my property. However, I will say I have been impressed with how responsive they have been and feel hopeful that they will be able to continue to service my property long term. read more

Called for my mom and explained she only wanted a one time service. Technician arrives and says they can't do one time service. So it was $150.00 with a service agreement. The tech couldn't tells us the cost for each additional service visit. We thanked the technician for his time. He comes back and says he called his supervisor who says he can do a one time service for $400.00 or $300.00 for two service visits. I called another pest company. We don't do business with companies who bait and witch. I should charge Clark for wasting our time. I made time in my schedule for this. It was a total waste of time. The prices and games are outrageous. Honesty is the best policy. Stop wasting people's time. read more

Don't do it! Lots of different people in your home, high turn over of managers and workers, say they are going to call back when they don't. They want you to commit to a contract, and then they don't fulfill their part of the contract. There are a lot of pest control companies, there has to be something better than this. read more

Disappointed, I'm on a yearly contract with them. About a year ago we had a rat problem, they came out, did their thing to the tune of 2K dollars, rats are back. Need them out here sooner than later, earliest they can come out is one week. I'm not a happy camper. Nice to deal with in person, but when you need them in a day or two, they are not there for you. read more

We just used Clark on 2 of our rentals. The only thing I was disappointed about was that I wasted almost 2 weeks on TerminiX. Clarks was prompt, professional, and fair. I will only use them for now on! read more

GREAT SERVICE. If you're thinking about using them, do it. We've had Clark since we moved here two years ago. They've been awesome with their regular visits (calling to let us know in advance and being accommodating to our schedule). When we needed extra help to keep the rats from using our fence a freeway they set down and checked traps and they came out right away when the ants decided to come for Christmas. Everyone (office and service team) are very respectful, friendly, helpful and efficient. read more

We recently had mite issues around the house and needed some pest control. We called Clark. HUGE mistake. After being told that we needed to do a couple sprays to get rid of the issue, we signed up for the maintenance plan. On the first visit, the technician comes earlier than scheduled, inconvenient since we're still prepping the place since we have to leave because of the chemicals. OK, so we try to hurry to accommodate him, and still he starts fogging into the crawlspace as we're still trying to pack up and leave the house. Now this being an old house, I know that fog can seep into all kinds of cracks from the crawlspace up into the living space. But fine.. Then part of the service was that he was also supposed to spray around the baseboards, which required us to move all the furniture and beds away from the walls. So how come after he sprays into the attic w/ the same fog machine, he's in the house for not more than a minute and comes out and says he's done. Really? You went around the entire house and all the rooms spraying the baseboards that quickly? It was a Friday afternoon, and clearly the technician was in a rush to start his weekend by coming early and half a$$ing the job. We call the main contact to complain, and he apologizes and says next time he'll send his best guy out. Next time was yesterday, and same guy comes out. This time saying he doesn't have the fog machine, even though our service was meant to have multiple applications of the fog into the crawlspace and attic. So we prepped all around the house again, only to have him say he doesn't have the fog machine. And was only going to do an inspection. After I insist, he says he'll spray the baseboards inside the house again, otherwise, what? he was just going to look around and leave. Long story, but bottom line, avoid this horrible company. I would give them 0 stars if I could... I paid for the 2 initial treatments in advance. And now they keep trying to bill me $100.00 for services never rendered. I cancelled service after they kept trying to tell me that I owed them for those services never rendered. Lousy job, I was still loaded with spider webs all over the place and therefore spiders. They cannot understand the concept of calling to arrange for somebody to be there to let them in. They just show up unplanned, do nothing and hang a $87 bill on your door. Even after arranging to let them in to spray they came back two days later and hung another bill on the door. They sign you up for a year long contract, they come out and hang a bill on your door everyother month even though they don't spray because they can't get in and are completely unwilling or ignorant to work with you to call first and arrange a scheduled time. Cancelled and looking for someone else. ps. I still have one more $87 dollar bill left to pay, and yes they didn't do anything it just says "call us so we can come out and spray" read more

Today I cancelled my service with Clark after many years due to their inconsistency. When signing up with Clark we requested a call prior to them arriving to ensure the pets were secured. They started off great but for the last year Clark did not notify us even after repeated requests. Also, the work was spotty as the spider treatment was useless as they were invading the house. read more

We were noticing rat activity so we called Clark. The representative said he was their "rat Guy", and after he crawled around under the house he told us we had a critical situation. He said he could see rats everywhere and estimated that we had over 100 rats under our home, maybe more. That we had around 20 points of entry that needed to be closed off. All the insulation under the home was full of rat nests, rat poo and pee and had to come out. The Crawl space had to be vacuumed and sanitized. Are you ready.. $15,000!!!. My husband and I about passed out. This was just the underneath part and didn't include attic or putting insulation back in. I noticed the sq ft he had of the home and it was 1,000 sq ft bigger. So I said you have that wrong, what will it be now, $1,000 less. I said how do you charge and he said by the Sq ft. Well , I said that doesn't make since. So he said ok, $13,800. We said that really seems high. He explained the process and that it was toxic material etc. he called his boss and said ok, $12,800 but we can't do it for any less. We got 3 other service providers to go under the house and look. They all said they didn't see any rats, there were a couple areas where insulation was loose and 2 spots where after 20 years it had fallen to the ground. They found 2 unoccupied old nests.. There was some rat poo here and there. We trapped for 2 weeks and got 5 rats.. It's been a week and with 15 traps no more rats. We had a licensed contractor and another guy go under the house today. In 6 hours they closed all the holes. Mostly wire mesh needed over vent holes. They replaced a bit of falling insulation, swept up underneath and repaired 1 hole in heat duct. I'm expecting a bill of labor and materials under $1500. I don't know how Clark can get away with something like this. I would not trust them after this experience. They totally were trying to take advantage of us. read more

Clark came out for a rodent problem in my garage. They determined after a free inspection that I didn't have points of entry . The rat probably came in when the garage door was open. Brendan explained how we would know they came in another entrance and that we could put out a trap to make sure, he explained where to put the traps. He could have easily just charged me to get rid of my rat problem. I found the whole experience to be great. If I do have any pest problems in the future, I'll be calling Clark's read more

I really don't like the idea of putting chemcials in my space, but I moved to a place with ants and black widows. I really don't like bugs in my space, either, so I called Clark. The guys are great. They always call first and will try to time things that fit your schedule. What they do works. They took care of my issues. But what I like best about them are the great people they have as technicians. read more

Horrible experience with Clark!! Caused many sleepless nights and my husband's blood pressure went super high when talking to the rude manager. We had regular service with them for more than a year and would never never recommend them to anyone. No star! read more

I am very pleased with my Clark Pest Control service they always call a few days before they are going to come so I am ready and leave the gate open for service. They always come on the day they say they will be there. I am mostly thrilled with my technician Scott Kincaid. He has been my technician for 8 years. Scott is friendly and very conscientious. He always reminds me not to let my pets out for about an hour. He moves anything around the perimeter of the house so he can spray. He does an excellent job of wiping down the spider webs. I have had him inside to check out some moths and other bugs. He is very thoughtful about not spraying inside since I have kids and pets. He gave great advice on how to remove the bugs without poison. On one or two occasions, I have had another technician that didn't do as thorough a job as Scott and that made me appreciate him all the more. I give 4 stars to Clark Pest Control but 5+++ stars to Scott Kincaid. read more

Terrible. They promise but can not deliver. I have been a customer since 2008 (with a year or so break in between), their guarantee was to come as often as needed. I am on the quarterly plan. In the last year, I've had major spider infestation. Clark's only came once every quarter. I had to call them multiple times during the quarterly timeframe because it seemed like the treatments did nothing. A supervisor came by last week to inform me (in these exact words) "it is not worth it for Clark's to keep you as a client because you've called too many times during your quarterly cycle". I was offended! He was also very rude about it but just brushed it and thought I'd called and talked to upper management instead. I called today to speak with management and for a service request because I'm having a new pest issue and they told me my account has been cancelled!!!! No notice. Absolutely ridiculous. read more

I have used Clark Pest Control for quarterly pest control for 4-5 years, so they were a natural for some minor termite infestation I had at my residence. Specifically there was a spot treatment in my foyer, and ground treatment around the premises for subterranean termites. I signed a fixed price contract for the work ($2,800), with the understanding that it would take 16 man hours to perform the work. Well as it turns out it didn't - it only took 10 hours. So I politely asked whether I should get a reduction in price, based on the actual work required - and said I was more than happy to pay for the materials plus whatever Clark's hourly rate was. I am sorry to report that my experience with Clark after this point was very disappointing. First, the local manager informed me that I was on the hook for the entire amount despite the large difference in the hours worked versus the amount I owed. He told me in an email that they billed out their staff at $125/hour. Under that logic - I should of been billed $1,250 + the cost of the chemicals. Instead he was incredulous that irrespective of the actual hours of work performed, I signed a contract and that was what I was obligated to pay (legally correct, but ethically I would call it taking advantage of a customer). He went further to suggest (after I said I felt obliged to at least tell others of my experience) - he wrote "I understand how bad reviews can hurt a company's image, but I think you would be completely out of line if you choose to go that route. It is sad that it has to come to you threatening our company with bad publicity to try to get what you think is fair when we have been totally upfront and honest with you from the outset." Undeterred, I contacted Clark Pest Control Management - and had an email exchange with the owner Terry Clark. He also was very defensive about my obligation to pay the fixed price amount. One of his arguments was that by California State Law, he could not offer a time and materials contract - although he suggested he would prefer to do business that was, as it would provide for more predictable profits. I then sent an email to the California State Pest Control Board asking whether Pest Control companies were in fact required to do business by fixed price contracts only. To my surprise - there is no such requirement - and Clark is free to do business - including Termite Pest Control - using time and materials contracts. As a fellow businessman, it is very disheartening to be taken advantage of; then have the CEO of the company misrepresent the facts; and finally - and maybe most importantly -- still have the termite problem in my foyer!! As you might imagine I cancelled my quarterly service with Clark. I did pay the fixed price on the contract. And as promised - I am letting you know of my experience so you don't make the same mistake with Clark Pest Control. In my view, they do not deserve your business. read more

I'd been having some issues with wasps, so when the Clark rep knocked on my door with a special deal I thought I'd try. The service was $95/treatment every 2 months. I was promised the same person would provide service. I signed onto their website to monitor my account and pay bills. When paying the first bill, I opened the service report and it was blank except for the charge $95 and the time spent at my house, 15 min. There was no info on what they did, what chemicals they used or any issues they saw. I sent a message through the site asking for details. I have dogs and want to know what chemicals they are using and where, as well as know if there are any problem areas. So i received one voicemail after my request. I work weird hours and am not always available by phone. I'd asked to be notified by e-mail (and so I could get everything in writing). No follow up. I didn't pursue it either, until the next invoice. Again, no detail on the report, except for the amount and the time spent, less than 15 min. I then sent another message asking to cancel my service. I didn't know what I was paying for. I may have been wiling to pay $95 for 15 min of work if I knew what they were doing! I received a confirmation and a few follow up voicemails. They don't seem to care about their customers. read more

I am in San Jose area. Just called the 1-888 and they dispatched a rep to see me immediately. I have no idea which office (city) they provided the service. But in general, I was very impressed with Carlos, who did a thorough, free inspection around the house and EVEN under the scrawl space !!! I got a same evaluation from Terminix and the sales rep did not even spend much time to look for symptoms. He just spent ton of time going through their profiles and brochures (very disappoiting). Anyway, Carlos gave me a bunch of things to be aware of, to fix, to correct, etc. I finally had a deal with Clark because of reasonable price. They called PG&E and arranged a bunch of things for you, etc. They did the job exactly on time including setting the tent, take off the tent, etc. to meet my deadline and tough schedule. About the price. You can always NEGOTIATE down after whatever % discount they give you. read more

Very good customer service. We have had both their home and landscape service for several years and we have been very happy.

San Carlos Branch. I ordered a one time spider knockdown spray around my home and scheduled the spray. I took the day off work, secured the cats etc. and the technician arrived. But she refused to do the spray because "they don't do one time sprays". You have to sign a multi-visit contract. I told her that wasn't what I ordered and she refused again. So I sent her away. I called the office and was told it was a "misunderstanding" which it was not. This is a ruse they use to try to get you to sign multi-spray contracts whether that is what you ordered or not. Look elsewhere for this service. read more

Very helpful service when we had an ant problem. Haven't had any ants since. They come to spray every other month. Jose calls the day before to let us know he will be coming, which is great so we can account for pets. $50 a month, well worth it! read more

My first phone call was a challenge with a young lady who gave me an inspection date 2 weeks later. At the end, the inspector said he had all info. to contact my landlord. I said, "Email address?" and he repeated himself and told me he would contact my landlord on Monday (2 days later) with price, to know whats needed to get rid of the rats. I called my landlord 9 days later and he had not heard from them! I called Clarks and recept. said the inspector documented once 'Called and no answer' WOW! I was very disappointed as rats were having babies in my attic, chewing up my plants, along with kitchen rugs. Five weeks have gone by and I returned their friday follow up call on monday, and made an appointment 2 days later 1-2pm. I called today at 2:15, "What happened?" Recept. said she did not see where I had an appt.. My 5th WOW! -A few weeks ago I called and an older lady recept. anwered and was very nice! Thats the only pleasant person I talked to there who went out of her way to accomidate my needs. I wish to use someone else but my landlord already has an account with them. read more

Very dissapointed...I have asked for a supervisor to call me back 3 times and have yet to receive a call back...customer service awful...the technician said I'd do fine with an ant spray from Lowes or Home depot...thanks for the bill---oh and the interst that accumulated as I waited for a call back...never again Clark...I had questions before my 2nd visit..that's all...you never called back and tacked on interest... interesting...my grandpa was right...$90 bucks and I can do it myself read more

have been with lark for years , I have many accounts with Clark. But the one I am not happy with one account in Daly City, they had different Technicians came to my Rentals Building Apartment on the first time. set up the traps for Mice , they came the first three Months they called before they came and want to come right away or next day , I told each of them you have all the Units Keys, but I have to let the Tenants know before 24 hours, since then no one show up. I did know. after I did asked the tenants ,did they came at all. Tenants said no they did not come , Two of the Tenants stay at home MOM. called and cancelled the services, and I been talks to Juan he is Supervisor, for Clark in 650-595-1643 had been dealing with him. find out Clark Technicians lost all my Tenants keys, what the Heck! how did it happened Juan do not not, demand talk to his Manager, name Arron , I and my husband talk to Arron, he sorry what happened if we can sent him the keys they will make an copies, I said No, I don't trust them anymore, I will make all they keys and sent him an receipt. for $17.56 and I received another bill for &167.00 for the month off January i sent them back with the keys Plus a receipt, called 650 595 1643 . a woman answer and said yes she did received , and will let Arron to call me back. waited for one week no one call, I did called to day and talk to Puspa she is very helpful, I talk her and tell her what happening , if the Corporation know about this they all get fired, for Lost the Tenants keys, and Puspa said Arron want to talk to my Husband He do not want to talk to me, I asked her Why! because I am a Woman ,Arron he is Racism Arron deal with me and my husband we speak in the past , because i am so demand! The techs do a good job and I haven't had an ant problem indoors since they have been coming. I only get the service every other month and i only use the stuff that the ants take back to the nest and wipe out the whole bunch of em. A bit expensive, but worth the peace of mind! And they do a nice job cleaning out the spider webs all around the house. read more

Unpleasant experience. The front runner guy came out to recommend work to be done. Pleasant enough and he explained the price to be expected. Workers came out while I was gone: when I got home I was shocked at the unprofessionalism. The door to the crawlway basement was left unattached leaving me vulnerable to the night animals (possums, cats, raccoons, skunks, etc). They didn't mask off areas so painted over them and the wood work was evident from the scraps they didn't clean up. I called to make an appointment with the regional manager to ask why his workers made such a mess and to explain why the work would cost so much for what looks like so little work, which he did. But then he blew it off, without even calling to explain why he wasn't coming. I had to make phone calls. Emails. Very unprofessional. The boss finally made it out and I could show him the sloppy work. When I asked him about the pricing, his explanation was completely different from the front runner guy! How does that make me feel?
