Not only is the staff incredibly kind, hardworking, and professional, but they're also always friendly and helpful with any questions or concerns. If you love a fun theme--or especially if you're into the Grateful Dead--this is absolutely your spot. They have huge painted bears on the side of the building and mainly play Grateful Dead music, which adds such a fun personality to the place. And of course, the food is AWESOME. From the burgers and hot dogs to the fries and hand-spun milkshakes, everything is consistently delicious. There's pretty much something for everyone here. We've been to Clark's at least 5 times and have tried a number of different menu items. Today, I had the Carolina Burger and regular fries. My husband had the Clark Burger and tater tots. The bread is beautiful to look at, soft, and buttery while the burger and each topping are all chosen or made with care. I don't know how they cook their fries and tots but I'd put them against any in town. Other things that I'd recommend include anything of their pastrami sandwiches (it's house made), hot dogs, and the BLT. And if you go for breakfast, definitely have a Montreal style bagel with their homemade cream cheese. Service is quick and the atmosphere is casual. It's kind of a hike here for us and now that original ownership is back in place it's one we'll be making a bit more often. For me personally, I'll be making it more on Friday's to get the amazing, and huge, fish sandwich. Beyond that the menu feels like it's got something for everyone, particularly if it's something that you slap between a couple slices of bread. Hot dogs and other sausages, burgers, Rueben's, breakfast sandwiches and all of it is high quality and prepared with care. Big fan of Clark's!!!! We stopped in for breakfast and it is the perfect hangover food. Messy sammies, hotdogs, the works. Food comes out on a tray, kind of like a BBQ joint or a cafeteria. It felt old school in a great way. I ordered pastrami hash and my partner ordered a breakfast sandwich, plus coffees for the both of us. Overall, this place is great. Very casual, a steady flow of customers. It's a little out of the way, but close to the action and I hope the hustle of Plaza extends toward them. Parking is a challenge, as there weren't a ton of spaces. There's outdoor seating and an order window, and it's dog friendly! Some games inside as well. Additionally, I do not eat pork, and so I hope they introduce an all beef hotdog to the menu! There were still some options, even for vegetarians, but the all beef would be great :) read more

Finally made it to Clark's Snack Bar--and as a bratwurst lover, I had high hopes. I was curious to see what took over The Good Wurst, and Clark's has been on my list ever since. I grew up in Wisconsin, so my bratwurst standards are very specific: beer-braised, no ketchup nonsense, just sautéed peppers and onions. That's exactly how I ordered it--and it was beautifully done. Juicy, flavorful, with just enough snap in the casing. Pure comfort in a bun. I paired it with a side of tater tots, which unfortunately missed the mark. They were overly salty--after about five, I couldn't go any further. I didn't send them back, mostly because I didn't feel like the back-and-forth, but I'd skip them next time. The space itself is casual, unfussy, and perfect for a quick bite or low-key hang. No pretense--just good sausages done right (and I say that as someone who's picky about them). Stopped by Clark's Snack Bar for Saturday lunch and loved the retro, welcoming vibe. The space was clean and open, staff were friendly, and the menu was easy to navigate. My husband and I ordered a Reuben sandwich (with spicy peppers), a cheeseburger with potato salad, and shared a strawberry milkshake to go. Came to Clark's after seeing a TikTok video of their location. We ordered a bacon egg and cheese and a pork roll with some tots. The pork roll on a sesame bagel toasted also had chili oil added, which made it additionally amazing! There are limited seating options so you might have to wait a while in order to be able to sit down and eat and the parking is a bit limited as well. My friend and I were out exploring a nearby market when we stumbled upon this new spot on Yelp! Given that it was new restaurant, we were excited to try it out. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted with warm smiles and loads of menu options. Inside decor gives a modern diner vibes, very spacious and loads of windows for nice lightening. They also had plenty of seating outside as well. Parking is also available in the front of the restaurant. My friend and I ordered two cheeseburgers with fries plus a chocolate chip cookie. The burgers were fantastic - flavorful, juicy, and perfect cooked. Fries were also well seasoned as well. This place also offers breakfast food and milkshakes. They have candy options at the order counter like snickers that can be mixed in. Not sure if the cookies can be mixed into the milkshakes but I'm sure they could if you wanted that flavor. We had a good experience here and I'll for sure be back the next time I want a delicious, well-priced burger. read more

If you follow food news for more than five minutes, you've probably heard some version of the "tea" behind Clark's Snack Shop. Clark's comes from the same owner behind Good Wurst, which (if you remember) opened in this exact Plaza Midwood space, expanded to three locations, and then shut down all three within a year. Nobody closes a thriving business, so I have to assume the economics just stopped making sense... but that didn't prevent a wave of headlines. One week it was lawsuits over the South End location, the next it was a quiet rebrand of the Plaza Midwood spot into "Clark's Snack Shop." I stopped in today and grabbed a chicken salad sandwich and chili cheese fries to-go because I needed to wrap up a listing presentation at home. When I opened the bag... disaster. The sandwich had toppled straight into the chili cheese fries. Not ideal so I re-plated everything and soldiered on. The chicken salad sandwich was good (not great). The biggest issue.. the chicken salad doesn't carry a big stick and the pickles completely overpower it. If you LOVE pickles, go for it... if not, I'd recommend ordering them on the side. Amélie's still holds the crown for chicken salad in the QC. The chili cheese fries were sweet, salty, and definitely edible. They were thick-cut, which helps them hold up under chili, but the overall flavor leaned mild. Not the best chili cheese fries in the city (that honor still belongs to Little Village Grill, forever and always), but drown them in Texas Pete and they'll get the job done. I didn't find anything I had to have again, but I also didn't dislike anything. The bigger question isn't the food, it's whether the ghost of Good Wurst will live for long. I'll probably swing back around to see how the menu evolves, until then... shoot me a message and we can tour homes in the area so you can grab lunch from Clarks while walking your pup around the neighborhood. read more

Tried Clark's for the first time this weekend and was pleasantly surprised. Staff was friendly and food was delicious. A little disappointed that the OJ was a tiny carton of Tropicana. Probably would've gotten something else to drink. Tots were a little too salty for me (and I'm always putting extra salt on everything) but they were good, just would've been better with less. I ended up putting some in my bacon, egg and cheese bagel sandwich. Yum. Parking is a little dicey - I ended up parking across the street in a strip mall since I didn't see any towing signs there. The Good Wurst Company has been reborn as Clark's Snack Bar in their original Plaza Midwood location. It looks more or less the same with their Grateful Dead decor inside and their order counter, and their large walled menu. Speaking of menu, that seems to be the same as well! I didn't really notice any discernible differences other than the name change so welcome back! Burgers, hotdogs, and some classic breakfast sandwiches are the staples of their menu. Recently I came in here with some former coworkers for a Friday lunch. While I was eager to try a chili dog, I noticed they had curry wurst fries on the menu as well which is something I got to try in Berlin and really enjoyed. The sausage is covered in spicy curry ketchup, it is a delicious snack. Theirs was a little too sweet for my taste and while it is typically garnished with some curry powder, they topped theirs with parsley which didn't add much flavor. I loved the hot dog though and their burgers looked fantastic as well. This is a solid place to grab a meal. It is laid back and cool, as well as reasonably priced. read more

Went here for the first time and got to try the "Thin sliced Grilled frankfurter, egg & cheese" sandwich and it was so good! The nice man at the register answered all my questions and asked us how the food was afterwards. I would recommend getting a drink with my sandwich because it can start to feel salty at the end. Besides that, the sandwich might have been cooked to perfection, the egg was perfect. It wasn't runny so I wasn't making a mess, the frankfurter was a good addition because it's also soft and a little salty. The buns were soft and the inside had a real nice crunch to it each bite. I also had a bite of my friend's chicken sandwich and fare warning it is tall. The batter to the chicken was delicious, the vegetables on it were still crunchy so each bite felt light and fresh. The parking a little tight but the inside is very welcoming, many seats and big windows. I'll be visiting again very soon to try their other items. read more

I love this little neighborhood gem! It's always quick and service is friendly. We usually go for breakfast (especially on the weekend when they have their bagels) but also love stopping in for sandwiches and their French fries which are some of my favorite in the city. I kept it simple and ordered a cheeseburger, fries, and a chocolate shake. My cheeseburger was pleasing to the eye but not my tastebuds. It was dry and bland. The fries were very good though. Juicy, messy burgers? YES PLEASE! I tried probably one of the best burgers I've had in quite a long time here, it was flavorful, huge and juicy. I didn't expect the burger to be so big and sad to say I couldn't finish lol. I got the Clark burger, and it was just so incredible. I added the fresh cut fries as a side and a sweet tea, everything was literally on point. I went during my lunch break on a Monday abt 2p and wasn't crowded but I can imagine normal lunch hours and wkends can be slammed.
