This is a fun little gem a little bit outside of the main plaza area on Central Ave. I was in the area recently and wanted a quick lunch so they seemed like a natural choice. It's a mix between a market a deli, and a craft beer joint to hang out and have a few cold ones. The service was a little slow but very friendly. Definitely feels like a laid back neighborhood hangout as opposed to the busy delis you see getting customers in and out. The toasted sandwich I had was very good with fresh bread and ingredients, and they have a lot of delicious sounding menu items that would certainly keep me interested in going back for a visit. If I lived in Plaza Midwood I would frequent h to us place for lunch, and I'll stop by in the future if I ever find myself over there. read more

Got a green juice which is fine and happy to get one. They lose two stars for literally not having prices. The guy behind the counter was like yeah we don't have prices on the menu. The online menu on their site wasn't working either. Transparency is important to me and they are clearly trying to hide what they are charging. Food is ok, however their customer service is absolutely horrible. I would prefer to support small local businesses, but twice now I've received an incorrect order and upon asking to resolve it (aka provide me with the correct order) their employees have refused or been very combative when asking to correct the order. Additionally, their online menu is very difficult to navigate, so it is a huge deterrent from placing orders since it's so difficult to order ahead. read more

Stopped by for a sandwich on a Monday afternoon. Upon entering it's a little overwhelming, there are so many options for sandwiches, vegan and "regular"??, along with smoothies, drinks, chips and other snack goods. After reviewing the menu for a bit, went with the country club sandwich, and it arrived a few minutes later. The sandwich was pressed and tasty, with fresh ingredients, cheese and mustard with just the right amount of tang. Boy am I lucky to find this gem I visited Deli St at 12:30p on a Sunday, at peak brunch time! The food and drinks came out so quick and at such a great quality, consider me impressed! Even though it was obviously during a rush, the staff was friendly and got it done! Who doesn't love a vegan and gluten free accommodating menu. And not to mention the cozy atmosphere! I want to preface this by saying I've eaten here SIX times in the last two weeks. My boyfriend and I are completely obsessed. The food, the creativity, the smiling faces, the local CLT beer/kombucha offerings, the vegan goodies.. all of it is amazing. We've been plant based (mostly vegan) for the last 6 months and one of my absolutely favorite things prior to the switch were sandwiches. I've been desperate to find a spot so when I saw it recommended on a FB group I had to try it out. I was not disappointed. I've tried the Beyond Wrap (v) the BLTA (v) pesto salad, tropical smoothie, banana & chocolate smoothie and last but not least the Barvecue sandwich (v) My favorite is the BLTA... their vegan mayo is out of this world. I'm not sure which vegan bacon they use but I'll definitely ask next time! All of the ingredients are fresh & seasoned! My boyfriends favorite is the Barvecue! They also put slaw on it & serve it with baked beans.. all vegan. This place is unassuming but offers so many different choices, especially for vegans/vegetarians. The other offerings that have dairy/meat seem to be amazing by the ingredients they use and they all appear to be super creative! Everyone I've encountered here has been so friendly. There's typically a young woman at the check out & she's always smiling and making sure she communicates when the food is done. The prices are a little high for the vegan options but completely understandable since they are more expensive.. I don't think it's unreasonable but to get drinks, sandwiches & a side (for 2 people) it's gonna run you about 40 bucks, with tip. The only issue I have is that when I ordered the Barvecue combos, I couldn't choose the chips it came with. That may be something they have chosen to do by design for cost efficiency but the chips they offer are not good and very salty. However, it is not something that makes the place less than 5 stars. This was my first time in this establishment and I was really excited about it. When you first walk in it's very inviting a lot of things to see and touch and the menu was promising especially the vegan options which I was going for. It started going down hill for me once I had to wait for my food. I ordered a fresh squeezed juice which I had to go and ask for when I got it, it was filled with pulp! My meal came and although it looked good at first my hash browns look like the ones you buy at ALDI and they were mushy, my tofu scramble had great flavor but super watery, I asked for spinach to be added to my scrambled and they hid it at the bottom of my plate raw. Not to mention I had onion skins in my plate and my beyond sausage had the casings peeling off of it. This overall was one of the worst vegan meals I've had so far in Charlotte. Deli st is one of the cutest and most inclusive food spots around. They have a ton of vegetarian, vegan, and HEALTHY options as well as less healthy and meat-forward. If you love sandwiches, this is the spot for you. They also have big salads. Everything is fresh and creative. It's also a bottle shop! There are tons of single cans (beer, cider, and wine alike), drinks, and bottles of wine to peruse. They also serve fresh coffee and smoothies. They have a lot of local options to boot. They have a handful of tables inside and counter seating around the perimeter, as well as a few tables outside. Even though it's on Central Ave, it's not too uncomfortable to sit outside. One of my favorite places to grab a vegan/vegetarian breakfast burrito. If you are a carnivore you'll find some amazing burritos or options as well. They have a mix of everything! It's small inside so perfect for grab and go. We grab food and usually go sit at the park near by. You can't help but eye up the delicious baked goods in the bakery case as you pick up your order. One day I'm going to get one of those carrot cake cupcakes. I order online and it's always hot, fresh and ready. My husband loves the hash brown patties that come with our breakfast. This is a great little sandwich shop! While on my last visit to Charlotte my friends I was visiting brought me here for lunch. What a great place! I knew the moment I walked in the door I was somewhere special. The establishment was quite busy so we jumped in line and looked at the boards while waiting our turn. That turn came pretty quick and you could see the staff was a well oiled machine and handled the crowd like pros. I ended up ordering the St Julian Club and switched the bread Sourdough. This comes loaded with Italian meats, provolone cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, roasted red peppers, oil, vinegar and oregano. It's basically an Italian club sandwich and frick'n delicious!!! My friends ordered the Hawthorn Beef and the Country Club. The Hawthorn Beef came on Marbled Rye Bread which was loaded with roast beef, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, habanero onions, pickles, spicy mustard and mayo. The Country Club was no slouch either and had roast beef, turkey, ham, cheddar and provolone cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, mayo and mustard. What a super delicious lunch! Frankly if I lived in Charlotte I'd be a regular here. No doubt about it. One other thing to point out is that this is also a store and you can get your own meats and baked goods from here all day long. The menu is basic with breakfast/lunch sandwiches, salads, awesome bakery goods, full Coffee bar and a good selection of beer which mostly comes In cans/bottles but they usually also have two things on tap. It probably has the best vegan options on the Eastside. Along with a good veggie menu they have many prepackaged snacks that are vegan and vegetarian friendly. Also they have a DRIVE-THRU (yes I said drive-thru) so you can order online or in person and not even get out of the car. Also note they do have parking and seating available if you want to eat in. I found my new coffee place! This has been a struggle for real. Finding a place close to me that makes coffee to my taste. Yes I can be picky. I really love the atmosphere here. It's quaint and trendy with a hippy vegan vibe, though they serve non vegan meals. The coffee is delicious, I am particularly fond of iced mochas. I have also tried the pesto bow tie pasta salad, yum! Then the chocolate cake ( not made in house) but delicious non the less. This is why I was excited to try Deli Street on a recommendation I saw in Axios for Cindy's Turkey sandwich. Cindy's sandwich is a creative twist on a turkey and cheese sandwich and it was very good. Fresh bread, I think they make it in house, or at least buy it locally as it was very fresh . Went here for the first time last night. Here's the scoop on Deli St... Parking: Deli St is located right off of Central Ave and there's a decent little parking lot for Deli St. patrons. There shouldn't be any issues with parking. Ambiance/Set-up: The best way to describe this place is Common Market meets NODA Bodega with a twist of Amelie's. In addition to the tables/seating they have set-up throughout the inside, there are tables set-up on the small patio just out front. There's plenty of natural lighting with clear views to the patio and Central Ave. Food/Drink: They've got a little bit of everything - plenty of craft/bottled beer, a few draft beers, plenty of nonalcoholic beverages, a wide variety of vegan sandwiches, breakfast sandwiches, wraps, clubs, salads, tortas, burgers, coffee, etc. This place really does have something for everyone. I got the 2 single IPAs and the "Commonwealth" sandwich - turkey or ham w/cheese, bacon, and honey mustard. Sandwich didn't blow me away by any means, but was good enough for the price I paid. I hope this place stays around for a while - if nothing else, its another great location to pick up and/or have a few local brews. There is something about a place where you know they're pandering to the vicinity instead of really cooking good food. Deli St is in a super random place on Central Avenue. Not too close to the main drag of bars/restaurants, but close enough where you can still be ok with driving a few minutes out of your way. They have a pretty interesting menu of sandwiches and smoothies. I was really just expecting your run-of-the-mill sandwich shop, when I was pleasantly surprised at the interesting selection of sandwiches for vegetarians and meat-lovers alike. I personally had the Cindy's Turkey, which had a spicy mayo, turkey, avocado, pimento and more lettuce than you can imagine. It was awesome. They have some coolers for local beer at some great prices, so you should seriously consider just heading here for a beer and sit on the front patio. Loving this new sandwich shop! I was getting a little tired of going to the same places, so it's great to have a new spot to put into the rotation.
