They brought out the Cinnamon Streusel first. It was, as the picture below shows, covered in butter. It was amazing. Really spectacular. You must try it if you eat here. Last weekend wanted to grab a bite to eat with the family before it got too hot. We decided to take a lil drive to try Clarkies, but we didn't beat the heat lol. I loved the decor and atmosphere, employees and ppl eating all looked like they were happy. Hubby and grand baby ordered breakfast and me and my daughter ordered turkey club sandwich. Let me talk about this sandwich, I've had many many club sandwiches in my life. You might say it's just a sandwich, it's simple how can ppl mess that up, trust me ppl have. But this club sandwich at Clarkies was THEE BEST TURKEY SANDWICH I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE, my daughter also was loving it. It had thick turkey, perfectly cooked bomb bacon, dude even the lettuce and tomato was delicious, I just kicked myself after cuz I should have added avocado. Best club ever. My hubby finished his breakfast before I could try, but I did get a chance to try his cinnamon muffin. I don't care for cinnamon much, but oh man this lil muffin was delicious, he's lucky I was always full, I would have devoured it. Came in on a Saturday and was seated in 5 minutes. The place is like hometown diner and is only open until early afternoon. Our food came out very quickly and was so good. The portions were great and the taste was also very good. The place overall was great and our server Brad was great. Turns out our server was an owner and his mother was the hostess. Came upon this diner accidentally, there aren't a lot of eateries In Calimesa besides fast food, so we ended up trying Clarkies. Good thing we did. The ambiance starts out sketchy as the building it is in is a businesslike hole in the wall type, but the owners have given the inside a personal touch that transforms the hole in the wall to a super pleasing atmosphere. I have only been for breakfast, and the Big Hoss is definitely shareable, and tasty, (needed a little salt,) and filling. We also bought the streusel/coffee cake muffins, apparently a tradition in these parts, and they are fantastic. I noticed fun, unique pancakes and French toast on the menu, a few other house breakfast specialties, and the regular breakfast fair also. According to the sign at the entry they serve a different soup everyday that I would love to try. The friendly, courteous, personal touch the staff provides finishes out the experience, keeping the diner busy. For a hometown diner this one is a keeper. read more

This place is outstanding...very family oriented...sometimes I'm just thinking about something I need or want and they approach my table with it in hand....they are very attentive and sooo friendly. Their food is always spot on...if I need it special ordered they are very accommodating and even offer up better solutions. It is always packed, but the wait time is minimal. I had eggs, house potatoes, and turkey sausage with a side of biscuits and gravy. All the ingredients were fresh and cooked to perfection. Iys been a long time since I've had good biscuits and gravy, so I was happy to find a home that offered some. The biscuits are soft and moist on the inside with the right amount of crisp on the outside. Combine that with their gravy, and you got yourself some warm and fuzzies. Clarkies is a must every time I visit Calimesa! It's such a cute hole in the wall diner that seems to be always full. And with good reason because it is absolutely delicious! Be sure to get the cinnamon streusel, it's their signature item and it's life changing. I would make the drive out there just for that. Everything else I've tried off the menu has been great too. One thing to note is that the parking lot always seems to be full, so if you go for Sunday brunch, you might have to park out on the street and walk a bit! We've been here twice. For lunch last week, I had the Mushroom Cheeseburger. It was incredible! Fully cooked, (I ordered medium, no red or pink showing), but juicy! I had it with Cheddar instead of Swiss and grilled (red) onions. Yummy! My husband had the Shrimp Salad with at least a dozen good sized shrimp on it, a huge scoop of mashed avocado. Thus morning we came for breakfast. I had the 'Lite Breakfast' with 1 piece of French Toast. I had the Egg over medium, 1 Sausage Patty, the French Toast and Home Fries. Perfect sized meal for me. I don't often get French Toast, but this was worth the splurge! The Home fries were great, and the rest was all good. My husband ordered the Avocado Toast, eggs over easy, Tomato slices and Cottage Cheese with an order of Tomato Juice. He l9ved every bite but was full by the time it came for the Cottage Cheese.
