I had the trout fillet (I had mine grilled instead of blackened and it was moist and flavorful. It came with two sides. I chose broccolini (was a bit under cooked to me) and tasty sweet potato waffle fries (generous portion) which came with an unusual but good dip. Hubby had the soup of the day and the chicken salad. It was delicious as always. It's offered with pita wedges or sliced cucumber, or 1/2 and 1/2. We like the 1/2 and 1/2 option. It was quiet and we had an enjoyable meal. I'm sure we will be returning often. Our server was friendly, helpful, and gave about the right amount of attention and service.

We'll and its not cheap, when you pay $24 for shrimp and grits you dont expect to have to season it at the table and mash the chalky lumps out with your fork. Maybe I'm just not a southern gal, but pulling the heads off my shrimp and getting one too many little tentacles thingies stuck in my teeth sort of took the shine off. The fried green tomatoes look pretty, the batter tastes of absolutely nothing; all the flavors in the sauce. We had a nice time though and I'll always give local businesses a go over the faceless big box. Maybe someone will read this and give the chef back his salt?

It's incredible what the owner has done with the place, and the food is awesome. I'm not sure why I'm even writing this review, I'd really rather keep this place quiet and have it all to myself.... But it deserves the five stars.

Today there was even a puppy there, Miguel, who was the sweetest little host/co-host. The hostess was great too--super friendly, patient with all my questions, and just welcoming overall. Another woman, maybe a local or another staff member, also chatted with me while I was waiting, which made the whole experience feel even warmer. The food was outstanding. I ordered the salmon and it was cooked to perfection. The rice was fantastic, the salad was delicious, and everything on the plate just hit. I also had the seasonal apple cider margarita, which was phenomenal. They even offered me a free dessert--maybe extras from an event the day before--but it was such a thoughtful touch. Before heading out, I grabbed two bottles of wine to go (they had a special) and took a glass of wine to enjoy in one of their outdoor areas. The grounds are very garden-forward. I visited in the fall, so the foliage wasn't at its peak, but the property is undeniably gorgeous. They have fire pits and outdoor heaters everywhere. I took my glass of wine to the back and sat on a swing--the hostess actually recommended it--and it was the perfect little moment. This is where things got a bit odd: once I moved outside, I didn't really feel acknowledged anymore. Maybe because I didn't have a server at that point, but when I left, there was no "Have a good day," which felt a little off after such a great experience. Still, it doesn't outweigh everything else. Overall, I'll definitely be back. Food: 10/10. Vibes: 10/10. I just wish my exit had felt a bit more appreciated--but it is what it is. Loved this place.

When traveling on vacation it's always a bonus when you can meet up with friends 513 miles from…read morehome especially when it's in a setting as cool as the Moose & Goose Lounge located inside the Lake Lure 1927 Hotel. Finding seats at the bar for six is no easy task on a Friday night so whether the stars aligned or knowing Margaret the always friendly and sometimes professional bartender was the reason for it, it was the perfect place to enjoy a few amazing cocktails and a snack after driving the better half of the day. The lounge is easily accessible from the porch or the lobby of the hotel, I won't say it's small but it is cozy. There's an oddly shaped bar along the back wall and a few tables window side otherwise it's standing room only. Margaret runs the show and if you're looking for a little harmless bantering then she'll give you all you want, she'll also pour you legendary cocktails that will have you wanting just one more no matter how long you stay. After finishing my go to summertime drink Redbull & Tito's while the sun set behind the mountains it was time to test the bartender's skill set - nothing's better than a barely dirty Ketel One martini shaken cold, up with a few cheese stuffed olives, well she quickly corrected my description of a cocktail that I've been consuming for decades - I guess the correct term is a slutty martini verses the barely dirty terminology. I may have deserved that since I did ask her if she knew how to make a great martini (see attached photo) I think the photo proved she's made a few and the taste validated any doubt I may have had - it was delicious. There's lots to do in Lake Lure although it may appear otherwise, but one should experience this place if possible...
