I just found out about this place through my wife. I tried it about a year ago after her telling me how good it was. She was right. Class 302 is super good, prices are not that bad and portions are perfect. The staff gives great service and the ambiance is nice and clean. Disappointed. This is my 2nd time at this location. The last time, I ordered popcorn chicken and calamari. The chicken was dry and lacked seasoning. The calamari didn't even taste like what it was suppose to. The next visit I decided to come here to get boba since the line at 7leaves was too long. They took away the unsweetened tea so I wasn't able to control the sweetness of my drink since I like to do half and half. On top of that, a regular size is almost $6. Overpriced. read more

Came here after a movie. Kids wanted Boba. So walked over. Kids had a blast picking their own toppings and flavors. That was about the best part. The Asian lady at the counter didn't say a word. Just stood there looking at us like we were supposed to know how everything went worked although we'd never been there before. She seemed bothered by having to work. I gave the place 1 Star and that's because I used to enjoy coming here. But for quite some time this place is just gross every time I come in here. They really need to clean it up. I mean at least the boba station that everyone gets to see, it is just a mess and grossed me out when I have to come in here. My friend brought me here telling me that it would be a great place for boba and oh it was amazing. Its a make your own boba station. We were also hungry so we decided to order some food she suggested one of the soups. I ordered the 302 soup and some popcorn chicken. I was disappointed with the soup it tasted a little too greasy for me. The popcorn chicken was good at the beginning but after a few bites I didn't want anymore. In my opinion the food wasn't all that great. The tea I had was the 302 milk tea and it was delicious. I made it my own added my Ice and however much boba I wanted. I didn't add anything extra because I didn't want to mess with it too much. You give it to the lady at the front when you're done and she seals it for you. The make your own boba is what's popular here. There tables are clean and the stations were clean. They don't have too much seating inside, so we sat outside. This place is amazing! I always come here when it's my lowest point in life. Not only does this place have great food, but they have a working bathroom! Unlike most restaurants. Their variety of teas are cool but I like to think that the control over your tea taste is cooler. You get to put any teas and when your ready, they'll close it up for you. Unlike other reviewers experiences, my beef was so tender it was falling apart, and the soup was very flavorful. Milk tea is a little too sweet, but I love the self serve concept. It's a good place to come for dessert. I had finished lunch at one of the restaurants nearby and came here for a boba drink. The concept here is you build your own drink. They do have suggestions but where's the fun of making something new. There is no small cup option, so I ordered a medium. Even though the size is medium it feels like a big cup. There are many flavors and there are tiny sample cups, so you try the drinks. I ended up getting the chocolate hazelnut mix with strawberry boba. The soup itself is decent, but wasn't a whole lot of flavor. Or fillings just bright orange broth with noodles and some indiscernible veggies I think. Having had REALLY good soups, i was a bit disappointed. The popcorn chicken though, was a star (medium spice level). Freshly cooked, perfectly seasoned. Which makes sense as this spot is also a boba tea spot, and boba & popcorn chicken go hand in hand. The boba tea is okay. I like the concept of serving yourself to put whatever boba/ egg pudding/ tea ratio you want, but as with any "buffet," quality tends to go down. I like the make your own milk tea here. The prices are decent and you have a bunch of little cups that you can try toppings and milk tea with. The place is very sticky though which is annoying. On a recent trip to visit a friend in Downey, we were trying to figure out what else to do in Downey other than go to Porto's. When my friend mentioned that a Class 302 had opened up in town, we knew we had to go there. Class 302 reminds me of my college days, so I always have warm feelings associated with it. This Class 302 is smaller, but they still serve up an excellent shaved snow. Shaved Snow: + Mango Mochi: I am a big fan of mango and a big fan of mochi, so I thought I would love this. The mango shaved snow is amazing! The mochi, however, was somewhat confusing. I am used to the small mochis as toppings for things like shaved snow and froyo, but the mochi that comes with the Mango Mochi is the giant sized mochi-- comparable to the size of the mochi that you get when you buy ice cream filled mochi. It's not necessarily bad... it's just a lot of mochi to handle at one time. Also, just in case you find yourself wondering where your mochi and other toppings went, be sure to dig around to the bottom of your shaved snow. + Boba Milk Tea Shaved Snow: Ummm, yes! I love boba and milk tea and shaved snow and having a boba milk tea flavored shaved snow was amazeballs. The milk tea flavor of the shaved snow is perfect, and the fact that it comes topped with egg pudding and boba just seals the deal for me on this one. I'd definitely order this one again. In addition to the shaved snow, this Class 302 also offers some classic snack items and BUILD YOUR OWN BOBA. Wontons are larger than average and contain mistery meat *shivers* They were absolutely gross and ended up setting those aside and only ate the noodles. NOTE: Class 302 is a cute little Asian (Taiwanese) fast food and milk tea joint. It is not a full blown restaurant. So people that complain about the food are a little bit out of line since "real food" is not to be expected from a place like this. But I think for a FAST FOOD joint, this hits the spot. Food serving size is very decent for the price. My favorites are the braised pork chops which truly captures Asian fast food flavor that I grew up with; the garlic calamari that is prepared like popcorn chicken, deep fried, seasoned, and served with basil leaves, and the spicy wonton noodle soup. Both the braised pork chops and the calamari can be made into a combo with their yummy fried rice, which alone is already good for 2 people. (maybe 3 if you're not a big eater) The choose your own boba or toppings, and choose your own drink or milk tea experience is also good, although it's a little pricey than the $3.75 price tag at the usual places. Their cups are pretty big, the medium is 25 ounces, while the large is 32. Doing basic math, the large comes out a tiny bit cheaper than the medium, which itself is already big enough. I like the fact that you can experiment, and you certainly can't complain that they didn't put enough boba in your drink. Ambience: Because this place is called CLASS 302, it kinda resembles a classroom. There are drawings on the floor of a hopscotch and a basketball court, and drawing on the chalkboard of PIKACHU among other things. Some of the tables looks like pre-school tables. So if you're super tall, pick one of the tables along the edge, or sit outside. THE ONLY THING MISSING IS TO HAVE THE SERVER/CASHIER DRESS UP IN A SCHOOL OUTFIT. THAT WOULD BE AWESOME! I always come here for boba and the udon soup! Both are amazing but the boba options are awesome. It's a self serve boba place and I love that about it. It feels as if you are making a bowl of frozen yogurt! You first get to pick what goes in your boba, and how much which I love! The topping are thing such as cookie crumbles, popping balls, aloe jelly, boba of course, and even flavored puddings. Then you get to pick your drink flavor. There are so many! I was in the mood for some tea, so I decided stop by Class Of 302 at the Downey Promenade. It's in a great location because it's makes it convenient to visit if you feel like having Boba after watching a movie at the Cinemark Theater across the way. I was anticipating to order my usual, which was the Honey Green Tea. Unfortunately, I was told they no longer served or anymore. I was quite disappointed about that. Instead, I opted for the Jasmine Milk Tea. You can never go wrong with that flavor if you're into that floral taste like me! I also ordered the Salmon fried rice. It was delicious, the veggies were cooked well and onions were crisp. They give you a good portion enough to share. The atmosphere had a fun classroom feel to it with upbeat music being played. It seemed kid friendly with some classroom desk used as table which added a touch of "class" they even had hopscotch painted on the ground. You can even sample different flavored teas before you fill your own cup. You can even mix your teas with different add ons. It depends what your in the mood for. Down side, is that there isn't any refills allowed but it's ok. It's still worth it. Overall, I recommend this place. read more
