Class 302 in Downey was such a great little stop! They have great drinks and food items here like popcorn chicken, sweet potato fries, different versions of Fried Rice, and so much more. Parking: The location has a large parking lot, so finding a spot was quick and easy. Service: The team members were friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. Drinks: I tried the Brown Sugar Milk Tea, and it was really good! My sister usually gets the Jasmine Tea from here and says it's delicious too. I did forget to add ice to mine today silly me! Thankfully, it still tasted great. Overall: I had a great experience! I especially love being able to control how much boba goes into my drink. ATTENTION!!! THIS CLASS 302 IN DOWNEY **IS NOT** LIKE THE CLASS 302 IN CERRITOS! There is no shaved ice, there are no waffles, and Downey is self-serve drinks while Cerritos makes the drinks for you. Their food menus differ, as well. With that being said, this Class 302 is closer to my house, so it's frequented more. I probably would have made this a 5 star review, but I haven't tried enough of their food or drinks to make a sound judgement. While I can tolerate spicy foods, in my day and age now, spicy foods aren't a good look for me sometimes. I like how I can opt out of the spice here. I've had the Pork Bone Noodle soup and the Miso Udon soup, both are delicious. They both come spicy and in different degrees of spicy, but, again, I opt out of the spice. Their popcorn chicken also comes in different degrees of spicy, and I've tried the no-spice, and 1st degree (??) level of spicy. The popcorn chicken does have a distinct flavor to it, maybe it's Chinese 5 spice (?), I'm not sure. It took some getting used to, but my twins love the popcorn chicken from here. The fried basil they add to it is a nice touch of flavor. I'd probably choose the fried pork chop over the popcorn chicken, flavor wise. The pork chop is topped with cilantro and served with their house made sweet chili sauce. I guess the secret to their self-serve drinks is to use to slushes in lieu of the ice so that your drink isn't watered down. Now, there are instructions on how to self-serve your drinks here: *Order the size of drink you'd like (small, medium, or large). *Ask for a sample cup if you're not sure what to get. *Add your boba and other fillings first (fruit, egg tart, popping boba, lychee jelly, Oreo crumbs, etc.) *Choose your drink combinations and fill your cup carefully. *If you're gonna add toppings after you fill your cup with your drink, leave some space for said topping. *If there's some overflow of your drink, you might be asked to drink some of your drink or it will be poured out into a sample cup. Your drink can't seal properly if it's not flush with the top of the cup. *You might have to wait a minute for your cup to be sealed because Other Patrons. I've Shazam'd some music here so the playlists are pretty good. We're always greeted with a "Hi, Welcome!" when we walk thru the doors, so staff is pretty cool. When I arrived at this shopping center, I was planning to eat at Jersey Mike's, but my friend decided to get a boba drink, so I chose to eat at that place instead a huge mistake on my part. I ordered a beef soup and paid $17.62; the soup was absolutely terrible super salty. Anyone with kidney issues would end up straight in the hospital; it had way too much salt. Since I had already paid so much, I tried eating some of the vegetables and mixing them with the meat, avoiding the noodles (which were raw and flavorless). The broth itself was incredibly salty, so I didn't even touch it; I left it on the counter and went to the cashier to let her know the soup was far too salty. She calmly said, "I'll tell the cooks," without even apologizing or offering an alternative. In my opinion, I will never go back there, nor do I recommend eating there... be very careful. read more

It's rare to find a self-serve boba place nowadays, so I was looking forward to trying it! On a Saturday night, all the seating was full, but we had no issue getting around to our drinks. You pay for a certain size and are free to add anything you want (WOOO for unlimited toppings). It was such a fun experience to try all the flavors and choose from the variety of toppings. The boba was the perfect chewiness and sweetness. My only wish was that they had an option for unsweetened tea so that I could dilute some of the sweetness. Everything is pre-sweetened, and it was just a bit sweeter for my taste. This place is great if you're a fan of toppings, but not if you're looking for high-quality tea. Their drinks are on the sweeter side, I am usually a 75% sweetness or less sweet person. So I love that you could ask them to add unsweetened green tea to balance out the sweetness. The cashier, who I think may be related to the owners (not sure), had a bad attitude the entire time customers were ordering. When I asked for hot sauce, she tossed it with force onto the counter instead of handing it to me. Ok, we might just be idiots for not realizing that this is mostly a boba shop. They don't even have shaved snow - a sign near the register says that they stopped serving it in 2020, and pretty much everyone in the restaurant had boba - which we did not get. We got the popcorn chicken and fried rice combo, and the fried pork chop and house noodle soup. I asked for mild on the chicken, but it was so spicy I couldn't eat it. I actually asked them to remake it and the girl at there counter said they'd make it plain (she was nice about it). But I think they just replaced the spice with salt because it was really salty! The fried rice was greasy but reasonably tasty - it had little bits of crunchy salty pickled daikon in it, which I'd never had but was delicious! Class 302 Cafe is located in the Promenade at Downey. This looks like a pretty busy area, but on an early weekday afternoon, there still was plenty of parking. I had this spot on my bookmarks for years, so I am glad to finally be able to stop by here. The process was a bit confusing when I first walked in, as there were no employees at the front counter - 2 of them were busy in the back cooking, eating, and talking and the other one was focused on making more boba and the trash, I guess. I did a walkthrough to look at everything, then I came back to the front counter and noticed the signages on the side wall about purchasing a cup first, then adding toppings and filling up your drink, then coming back to the front counter to get your drink sealed by an employee. I waited in line patiently, as the employees were all in the back doing various things, and the guy who was bringing out the boba and changing the trash finally came out. I noted that he was wearing the same gloves he did while taking out the trash and started to ring customers in front of me up and help seal finished boba cups wearing those same dirty gloves. I was disgusted, but since I drove a long way for this spot, I decided to stay, as he is only touching the outside of the cup anyway, and I will just wipe it down later. Anyway, I bought a cup and filled it with some ice, my favorite milk tea - jasmine milk tea, and boba. I do wished that they had a couple other toppings I liked though. I was ready to have my drink sealed and waited patiently for the employee to seal it. I can say this is the first self-serve boba place that I've ever been to. If you're looking to try different flavors and toppings, this is the place to come. You pay a flat price per size and you can add the toppings and mix drinks to your heart's content (as long as they can seal the cup). From smoothies to milk teas, there is a pretty good selection of what you can get. I have been a here few times and it's one of those you just want to go to for the vibes. If you're looking for high-quality tea, this isn't the place for you. I love the idea of mixing some drinks and adding toppings based on what I'm craving at the moment. I haven't had the chance to try their foods but they have looked pretty yummy based on seeing people's order at their table. Keep in mind, that the line for the place really can get long, especially on hot summer nights. There is only one cashier that can ring you up. This place is amazing! I came in not knowing what to expect, I saw the word boba on the windows and thought I'd try it out. The person ringing up everything did not greet anyone as they walked in and did not explain how things worked here. Another patron saw that I was lost and told me what to do. This place is basically a Yogurtland but for boba. You purchase your cup and fill it with choices of drinks that were lined up, there were even smoothie blends. Then you walk over to the toppings bar to top it off, then throw in your boba. Once finished, you walk back to the person who rang you up to seal the cup for you. Again, this lady was not personable. You get to also sample the flavors first before committing, so that was a real bonus! The food was a good deal for $16 for app and entree, but it tasted ok. The basil fried rice left a weird taste on our tongue and made other things taste weirder. The noodles, popcorn chicken, fried pork and reg fried rice were bland, except for the Spicy Miso Udon. The school tables and chairs were sticky. The lady in front was trying to stay friendly, prob irritated bc of some misbehaved boys that was harassing her and the business. i had a disappointing and uncomfortable experience at this boba shop due to the front counter employee. she has thin eyebrows and looks goth, her name is sam i believe? i asked if i could pay using change -- it was all quarters, already counted and organized beforehand, and exactly $6. She told me no, which I understood and accepted immediately. however, instead of ending the interaction there, sam continued to make repeated comments about not wanting to count the change, saying things like "respectfully, i don't want to count all that change." the conversation was unnecessarily dragged out, and her tone was loud and came across as rude and unprofessional. i understand being busy and having policies, but there was no reason to continue commenting after i had already agreed and moved on. i hope management addresses this, as customer service is just as important as the drinks. read more

OK so I've been coming here for yearssss. Their boba is one of my most favorite bobas of all time. It's sweet, brown sugary, soft and chewy and warm. You can help yourself to as much or as little as your heart desires. They have multiple toppings so you can dress your choice of drink up your way! Today i also tried their food. I got the spicy garlic chicken which was crispy and juicy and delicious but not spicy at all, more sweet. So this plus the 7 Leaves across the street is perfect. We came in late at night so some items weren't available, but we just wanted boba anyway. It's a BYOB (Build Your Own Boba) place, so customization is all up to you! From the toppings, milk teas, to the slushies. Love it. Lady at the front was friendly, even on a late night.
