I had an 'incident' that involved a cat, a curb and my car..... the cat was fine, the curb has some war wounds and my car, well she had a messed up front end. My Mini Cooper is my baby, so I took her in to Irvine MINI and they recommended Spectrum Collision. I spoke with Johnny Maldjian and gave me a quick estimate, but let me know at that time, there may be more repairs needed. I was nervous when I dropped my car off and Johnny reassured me, she would be fine. It took about 2 weeks to repair my car and Johnny kept me informed through out the repair process, from when he ordered the parts, when they arrived and as they were being installed. This shop was recommended in literature I received when I bought my BMW from Irvine BMW. They are both part of the Shelly Automotive group, so they are affiliated. When I dropped off the my 328, I was impressed that they promised constant updates and great service. It took 4 weeks to repair a minor dent. I apreciate that they don't want to rush the job, but they would never provide an ECD and the communciations was poor. I had to email and call to find out what was going on. I finally called the manager (Luis) and all he did was refer me back to the "project manager" (RJ) who was supposed to be providing me with updates in the first place. Their repair work is very good, but that is what I would expect from an authorized BMW repair facility. I just wish they provided the customer service to match. I cannot recommend them and will not use them in the future. read more

My 2006 BMW M3 was rear ended by a 2001 Chevy Suburban. The offenders insurance company (State Farm) tried to persuade me to take my car to a preferred auto repair facility (Autobody by Caldwell). I initially went to Caldwell but was very unimpressed by the estimators initial impression of the amount of damage to the vehicle. I also found their bad mouthing of the local competitors to be very unprofessional. I had read all the prior (some good and some bad) reviews from Spectrum and was a little nervous talking my car there but in the end Tyler seemed to be honest and knowledgeable. I ended up choosing Spectrum because the repaired cars in their facility looked very good. The whole process took much longer than I expected (about 5 weeks). I think this may be explained by the timing of the incident/repair. The car was dropped off before Thanksgiving and it took a while to get the State Farm Reps out to the facility to inspect my car. Once the fighting/haggling between Spectrum Collision and State Farm was completed the car was fixed in about 10 days. The quality of the repairs is absolutely first rate (9.999/10). No fish eyes, over spray or tape marks. I am a former car mechanic and I personally detail all my own cars. I can honestly not tell there was any damage to the vehicle at all! If you are very particular about your car there is no place better to have the repair work performed. Especially when you consider how the insurance companies try to nickle and dime the repair facilities on labor hours and materials. If you do decided to use this facility I recommend constant communication between you and the repair manager. I think that would have speed up the whole process a little faster. read more

The Good News: I chose Spectrum Collision because they were the closet BMW Certified Body Shop. They did a fabulous job repairing my 2011 BMW. My son backed into my driver's door and rear quarter panel and caused structural damage. Spectrum Collision made my car look exactly like it did before the accident. Perfectly matched the metallic blue paint. Furthermore, Johnny was very responsive to my inquiries on progress and worked with my insurance company without any issue. The Bad News: The repairs took 10 weeks...while I am not remotely knowledgeable about how long body damage should take to repair, this seemed like an inordinate amount of time. They kept my car an extra day to detail it. However, when I picked it up, the interior was filthy, dust everywhere. It was clear to me it had not been cleaned, much less detailed. Johnny did offer a free detailing, if I brought the car back and left. Since this is my only car, leaving with them for cleaning isn't really an option. Hence the reason for rating them 4 stars. I hope I never need a body repair shop for my BMW again, but if I do, because of the high quality work completed on my car, I will return to Spectrum Collision. This place does the work for Irvine BMW. I've brought my 335 and now my 328 here and try do great work. They don't rush the job to ensure it's done right. They can spot anything and do quality work, and they pointed out extra things that I felt comfortable with and had them fix while it was going to be worked on anyways. If your insurance or your paying out of your pocket for rental, just know they usually take it to the estimated time to the last day. Sometimes a little longer. The one thing I do like is they order everything first if your car is drivable and that way you don't have to be without, or use up unnecessary car rental days. They don't take credit cards over a thousand, but they will take debit or cashier check. I brought my 335 in because a gravel truck spilled it's load on the 405 while driving and looked like a shotgun blast on my Whip. They hooked it up from front end to rear. From grill, headlights, hood, fenders, door, the whole works. I recommend to anyone, no matter what type of car you drive. read more

After I scraped the bumper of my new Tesla backing out of the garage, first I took it to a place in Santa Ana that quoted me $8,000 - they said the fender and front quarter-panel had to be replaced. They also said it would be two months before they could even start working on it. Looking for better news, I went to Spectrum Collision and talked to Daniel. He looked at my car and said he could have his guys polish it up right then and there, and it'd be good as new. When I asked him how much it would be he just said to give them a tip. Well, he was as good as his word, and the car looks perfect! I gave them sixty dollars; Daniel even told me that was more than necessary, but I was so grateful at that point I didn't care. I SUGGEST NOT TO USE THIS REPAIR SHOP!! Took my car and took them more than 2 weeks to get it repaired on small bumper hit! I got referred by BMM!! The job they did was good no judge on their technicians although the personal Gary wasn't really helpful the fact he said they were able was to fix our trunk issue ("opened warning trunk")caused by the accident which at the end he called me stating my trunk had nothing to do with our recent accident! Instead he made a story based on another accident happened 4 years ago repaired by a local body shop blaming them on messing up with our trunk.. REALLY!! 4 YEARS I COULD HAVE THAT ISSUE ON OUR CAR!!! That's a ridiculous story Gary! 'Til I spoke with the manager asked him to send it to BMW and finally they figure it out, at the end the insurance wasn't responsible thanks to Gary based on the story he created!! When I finally picked up my car and gave our rental away it was right before closing time so no management was there, I realized our trunk wasn't opening at all, not even with key, switch, trunk release, " NOTHING " which it was opening when I dropped it in except the warning light coming on and off!!! Next day in the morning I emailed this guy(Gary) since I got no responses for 2 days I decided to drop it at local shop to get it repaired, end of story they didn't plug some connectors in it for whatever reason!! Thanks Gary for having a great ridiculous experience! In my opinion they're the most knowledgeable in OC when it comes to high end cars with expertise in BMW's. Recently my daughter was involved in an accident with her 2008 BMW 328i.The car looked better than we've purchased it new. They place great amount of pride in their quality and workmanship. I got rear ended on the freeway. I contacted BMW and they refer me to Spectrum collusion. I called them around 3 or 4 pm and told them I needed my car to be towed out of the tow yard into their shop to get repaired (an hour away). They towed my car out the same day ( tow truck got there fast) Took about a month for my car to be done. It was worth the waiting because they did and awesome job. Communication was done over the phone and via email with Gray. Thank you Gray; you're the best!!! Pick up my car at the BMW dealership. I was so happy that my car look brand new again! Before you elect to get your car fixed here, please read and believe the reviews and take heed. I recently brought in my BMW to get the front fender repaired after a minor accident and was given a 3 to 5 day window for completion. When I say minor, the damage ended up costing the insurance company $1700. This place ended up keeping my car for over three weeks, and each time I called to check on the progress, I was given a different excuse. First, I was told that they didn't have the required part for my car, then I was told that the part needed to be tested, and then, I was told they only had one painter and he was out until several days later. I called the shop manager Chris Turpin a couple of times, and he was probably the rudest condescending person ever. Truly an unattractive person inside and out. When I finally got my car back, the cup holder had been broken, and Chris explained that the cup holders in this model are prone to break in the 528i model and offering to repair it for a price-even though it was broken by his folks! Needless to say, I did not relish the thought of them having my car for another couple of weeks. The only reason I gave them one star is that their front office receptionists are really nice and as helpful as they can be. Save your money and aggravation and get your car fixed elsewhere. read more

I take my BMW into Spectrum for a "spa" experience several times a year. The results are extraordinary; my auto sparkles! I especially like the interior treatment, meticulously cleaned and vacuumed, with the dash and doors groomed to a glow. No harsh mirrored surfaces need apply! Of course, in an auto service situation, the personnel are of primary importance. I have dealt with Dan Gonzales for the past few years, finding him to be extremely competent: professional, punctual, and attentive to the current problems. The quality of work is first class! My car was hit while parked. The gentlemen that hit my car agreed to pay for the repairs personally rather than go through his insurance. I contacted Irvine BMW and they referred me directly to Spectrum Collision. Once I arrived at Spectrum Collision, I was greeted by the receptionist who gave me a short form to complete. I than met RJ who looked at the car and wrote up an estimate. A quick call to the person who hit my car, and we agreed to proceed. The entire process, thus far, took less than 20 minutes. RJ took my car in for repair that very same day (despite them being rather busy) and promised to have the car ready by the next day at the latest. In the meantime, I was given a ride back to my work. That was a very nice thing for them to do. It was unexpected, but saved me valuable time, as I needed to be back at work. Little things like this show that they clearly value ALL their customers. I was not a big $$ customer, but received the same "special" service. RJ, called me later that day to let me know that progress is being made and that the car would be ready as promised. Do not use Spectrum Collision, just walk across the street to Caliber Collision and talk to R J Arriola or the GM Zdenko. Read Spectrum's Repair Order. It is the most one sided (and likely unenforceable) contract you will ever see. It says that you must pay the estimated repair price even if you do not have them do the repair, plus if you choose to take your car somewhere else they can take 90 days to release it, charge you a $75 storage fee per day (that is $6,000) and they will hold your car hostage to extract the maximum fee from you and your insurance company. The Contract is designed to intimidate you and give them the ability to make your car un-driveable so that you have no choice but to have them complete the work, They are so busy, they are slow to answer or return calls, and they treat you like they are doing you a favor by accepting your car. Bad customer service all around from the front desk to the Advisers and even the Manager. Caliber Collision did the same work in 1/4 the time for 1/2 the money and they listened, were responsive, courteous, sent text status updates, finished ahead of schedule, detailed the car and did a great job! Only use Spectrum if you do not care what it costs or how long it takes, don't mind driving a rental for a few months and don't care how people treat you. read more

Luckily i did some quick research and found that in OC there were only 2 Audi certified body shops. i contacted Spectrum and i am happy i did. They've worked on my X3, my suburban LTZ, my 750Li and even my daughter's Mini. The customer service and communication with Chris was constant, personable and kept me in the loop. From the moment I was greeted by the receptionists to have my vehicle looked at to the day I picked up, I was treated like a VIP. I received phone calls and emails every step of the repairs. Even when there were minor delays, I knew my vehicles were in good hands. I was surprised to see the negative review about Spectrum Collision and specifically Chris Turpin. I've had nothing but positive interactions with the team at Spectrum Collision and Chris Turpin. I regularly have my 750 Li detailed at Spectrum by Ramos and team. When my new license plate cover came in, I had them install it on my 750Li free of charge. Talk about customer loyalty and good will. God forbid I am in another accident, but should I ever need a great detail or service from them, I won't hesitate to return to Spectrum Collision. I have been refraining from writing a review about this place but enough is enough! I brought my Mini Cooper Countryman here when it sustained body damage on right back panel from an accident back in November. The car is drivable and was dropped off to Spectrum Collision on November 23, 2015. Big mistake on my part and Mercury Insurance for trusting my 6month old vehicle to this sham of a shop. I have yet to get my car back and in two weeks would have been in there shop for 3 months!!! From the initial estimate to the lies given by them of updates that they keep feeding me and my husband when the bottom line was that they were not working on my car at all. Forget about dealing with anyone including the GM Luis who have no clue or handle of the state of my vehicle on any given time. They keep dropping the ball and don't care about making it right with the customer! I have several email correspondence from them on supposed stages of work being done on my car which if I were to believed, my car would have been ready weeks ago! I consulted several reputable body shops recommended by other Mini dealership and I was told repeatedly that it should not have taken this long considering the damages on my vehicle. They did offer a loaner vehicle after my car has been in there shop for almost 2 mos. Afterwards, forget about receiving courtesy from them knowing that I am still waiting for my car. Their current attitude seems to be that I should be grateful they gave me a loaner. There were several negative reviews about this shop back in December with similar issues as mine but suspiciously disappeared from the Yelp site. I may be taking a chance that this review will slow my chances of getting my car back soon but I am super fed up!! I definitely would not wish this on anyone so BEWARE and don't take your car here! Shame on Mini Cooper Irvine for recommending this place! Next stop is the Better Business Bureau and as many internet sites I can review this shop on. Excellent service and workmanship. Had a few freeway chips on the hood and front bumper on my Porsche, which needed fixing. Was originally referred to Ray at the Newport Beach Ferrari & Maserati collision center on AIrway by Newport Auto Center. I called, left a message, did not get call back for a few days then I called again and was told by Ray that he was on vacation. Got an appointment for the following Monday at 10 but when I showed up the receptionist did not know anyting about the appointment and had to call Ray who said he had forgotten about the appointment due to an emergency. he referred me to another guy to help me. Basically after two weeks of getting the run around,I did not feel comfortable to trust Newport Beach Ferrari & Maserati Collision with my car so I contacted another Porsche certified center, Spectrum Collision, via email, for an estimate. Chris contacted me, via email, very quickly, gave me an estimate. I asked for an appointment for the following Monday at 10 AM. I arrived, Chris was there to inpect my car and honored his estimate for a factoy quality work. I dropped the car off and got a ride home. As Chris had peomised me, he called me on Friday afternoon to inform me that my car was ready. I went by Saturday at 9:00 to pick up the car. I saw a job well done, as promised. Service provided by Chris at Spectrum Collision supercedes the service provided by Newport Beach Ferrari & Maserati by a mile. From the very first moment of contacted to the time Chris gave me my car keys to drive home, he was honest and straightforward. I appreciate this type of professional conduct, service, and workmanship. My car looks like day one, just out of the showroom. Excellent service and workmanship. Thank you for a professional job.
