Aged to Perfection 40th Bday Cake

So happy with the cake for my husband's 40th! Sent in a picture I found on Pinterest, and they matched it beautifully. Guests didn't even think it was a real cake!

I was having a bad day and decided a cupcake (or 3) would make me feel better. I was 100% right. I had the wedding cake, lemon/almond/orange, and pumpkin. My entire soul was happy. All three cupcakes were very moist. The store was clean. The lady taking my order was friendly.

Megan did an amazing job on our wedding cake. It was exactly what I envisioned. Not only was it stunning, but it tasted as good as it looked.

Cake was finished on time and appeared as my sketch. Only reason I gave a 4, was the moistness. Little dry for $158.

Highly impressed. I've been waiting to go for half price Wednesday for longer than I'd like to admit. And the day before my birthday was the right time! I'm so glad I did and will definitely do it again. The half-price cakes are beautifully decorated. I was torn on which one to get and was offered a slice to try. Uh yes, please!! No regrets. The strawberry cake was amazing but I hands down went with the lemon. What an amazingly fresh taste. And I couldn't pass up grabbing a half dozen of cupcakes, which were quickly devoured in my house.

I have never visited the shop or ordered a cake, BUT I have tasted the delicious Classic Cakes thanks to gracious coworkers who like to share. I've tried the champagne flavor as well as the chocolate chip and both are so, so good. The cake is decadent but not overly dense or sugary, and it is not dry at all. Plus, the decoration is beautifully done, as evidenced by the photos. If you're at an event and there is a cake from Classic Cakes, run to get a slice because it is well worth the calories!

Amazing Cake - everyone raved about how amazing it looked and tasted!

Excellent service, excellent cake, great artistic talent creating a custom cake. A Ham Radio to a T!

Classic Cakes did it again for me. My family have been going to Classic Cakes for years. My wedding cake was from Classic Cakes. Many birthday cakes came from there. And now my own daughter's first birthday cake came from there. I'll admit, I dropped the ball when it came to a ton of notice and they were still able to make a cake for us. We got a delicious strawberry cake with cream cheese filling. It was such a beautiful cake (and smash cake!). I am so balky with the cake I received. I will absolutely continue to order my cakes there and recommend them to everyone.

Beautiful cake for Dia De Los Muertos.

I wanted a particular cake I saw a photo of on line for my 49 plus 1 birthday earlier this year. Covid hit about a month before my birthday and shut everything down. No-one anywhere was taking orders for cakes. I tried places, My husband contacted places and even my cousin up north tried. Since things have opened back up my husband surprised me by getting me the cake for Die De Los Muertos. They did a beautiful job creating the cake from a photo he sent. We picked up the cake on Halloween and we were going to wait till tomorrow ( Day of the Deadp ) to cut it, but we couldn't. I really liked the buttercream and I just thought the cake itself was just ok. It is very heavy. He said it was one of the signature flavors but he couldn't remember. Looking on line it may have been black velvet but im not sure. He liked it much more than I did but he likes heavy chocolate cakes like flourless. I would have preferred a more fluffy texture. But it was beautiful and I finally got the cake I wanted 6 months ago. Small update: We cut the bottom cakes today. They are white cake and very much wedding cake like. It was so good and much better ( to me ) than the top layer. The husband still liked the top layer better.

Beyond happy with the cake I just got for my boyfriend's 30th! It was so so delicious and exceeded all of my expectations. Won't be going anywhere else for all my future birthday cake needs

This place has been a family favorite ever since I can remember. I don't remember a birthday without Classic Cakes. My favorite has always been the almond truffle. It never disappoints! I've had others as well... raspberry, marble, chocolate, etc... they're all good. I've never had a dry or unsavory experience with their cakes, unlike the so very expensive Cake Bake Shop. I would rather spend the extra $ at Classic Cakes and buy an entire cake versus spending too much $ for one slice at Cake Bake that could be (and probably is) slightly dry. No disrespect to Cake Bake, but I would much rather have a slice of cake from Classic Cakes. Just my opinion! Check this place out if you're in search of a cake (or cupcakes- they're delish, too!) for a special event or just for fun. They let you sample cakes, too! I could go on and on... but truly, this place is a gem. Hope it stays around forever!

    Wedding Cake

We used classic cakes for our wedding. They were wonderful at our tasting and helped make our vision come true. The cakes tasted great and looked amazing. They were also very helpful getting us additional gluten free and egg free cupcake options! Highly recommend!!

My wife and I fell in love with Classic Cakes in 2014 when we attended a wedding expo. Admittedly, we tried every cake sample they had available. We kept on coming back to the flavor of the Almond Pound Cake with the chocolate ganache and buttercream frosting. It was a huge hit at our wedding and people are still talking about it. They also did a great job packaging up the top tier was very good instructions on storing it until our anniversary. We now order a small version of the same cake for every anniversary to enjoy!

The raspberry pistachio croissant? Oh. My. God. This thing had me in a chokehold. Flaky, buttery layers with the perfect balance of tart raspberry and rich pistachio. It wasn't just good -- it was write-home-about-it good. The kind of pastry that makes you pause mid-bite and question every other croissant you've ever had. The second was a croissant sandwich (I wish I could remember the name!), but the way those flavors paired together? Let's just say it was a full culinary experience. Savory, balanced, indulgent -- you get the hint. Every bite just made sense. Now here's the part that really says something: I grew up on the East Coast where authentic French bakeries are everywhere and the cultural standard is high. I know a proper croissant. And this? This was better. Yes, I said it. We even had the chance to speak with the owner, who was incredibly warm and genuine. He checked in to make sure we enjoyed everything -- which we clearly did, considering we left with boxes to take home. This place isn't just a pastry shop. It's an experience. And trust me, it will be a topic of discussion in our house for days. Run. Don't walk.

The Cake Bake Shop is an exception and rightfully so. We have been to the Indianapolis location three times and this is our first visit to the Carmel shop. The atmosphere and glittering decor is whimsical. The service is exceptional. The food, especially the dessert, is exquisite. We celebrated our anniversary with crab beignets, Gwendolyn's signature chicken and andouille gumbo, and New Orleans shrimp po' boy with pommes frites. Our young daughters dined in with us so we asked for the Crystal hot sauce to be placed on the side. For dessert, we shared a slice of the celebration cake which had three different cake layers: vanilla cake with chocolate chips, chocolate cake, and vanilla almond confetti cake. The flavors are distinctive and came together with two buttercreams, vanilla almond and strawberry. It was delightful and delicate. However, I am still extremely loyal to my favorite, Gwendolyn's Famous Earl's Court Chocolate Cake. For take-out, we had the chocolate chip cookie with fleur de sel, walnut brownie, birthday macaron, and chocolate caramel macaron. I love dessert but cookies and brownies are generally at the bottom of my list. I generally prefer cake, donuts, ice cream, tarts, and various pastries. But once again, I make the exception for the Cake Bake Shop. My favorite is the walnut brownie because it has a nice, crispy crust and a soft center. It is perfection! It is also worth mentioning that the server sprinkled glitter on my girls' hands and hair so that they could make a wish with the celebration cake. If your young children is into anything sparkly and glittery, this definitely ups the notch to a wonderful and magical lunch experience! Safe to say - The next time we have a road trip in the general area, I am going to include The Cake Bake Shop in the itinerary.

Yesterday, I decided that I would not be cooking dinner and instead opted to order pizza and dessert to be picked up on my way home. This is such a cute, quaint little shop located in a tiny strip mall next to a gas station. So very unassuming, yet quite impressive. I loved the two cute yellow tables and chairs out on the sidewalk as well as the Sinatra that was playing when I entered the shop. I was greeted warmly and let me say how much I value a pleasant and genuine interaction like that. Someone came to the front of the store from the kitchen in the back, and she too greeted me with a very welcoming and warm smile. This fact alone makes me want to return and support this place of business. My pizzas were prepared fresh and handed to me hot out of the oven. The deserts, an assortment of 3 different kinds of cookies as well as two slices of cake, were kept separate and cold. My husband loved the pizza (he is somewhat of a connoisseur) and I enjoyed it as well. The carrot cake was a bit dense for my liking and the pistachio ricotta was decadent. My husband really enjoyed these sweet treats as a night cap! I loved the cookies. I ordered the Peanut Butter Brownie Swirl cookie, the Pistachio Chocolate Crunch cookie, and two of the Pistachio Thumbprint cookies. My personal favorite was the Pistachio Chocolate Crunch cookie. It had a great contrast in texture with the soft-baked cookie being perfectly complemented by the crunch of the pistachio pieces, and it wasn't overly sweet. I'll definitely be back to try more cookies, cakes and pastries in the future! They also carry some authentic imported Italian products, such as pomodoro sauce.

Much like the downtown Indy location, Lemon's is technically located within the Carmel Needler's. However, Lemon's has its own separate entrance and storefront while existing on the east end of Needler's. You can access Needler's directly from Lemon's Bakery Cafe. Lemon's has a small counter with display cases for its baked goods. Like the downtown Indy location, they offer sweets from Noblesville's Rosie's and they offer a variety of local coffees and a rather extensive list of coffee options. There's also a relatively small dining area with booths appropriate for 2-3 people. I found this area not entirely wheelchair friendly, though I could make it work. My best option was sitting at the end of a row of booths which put me pretty much close to the door on a rather chilly day. The employee working was super quiet but friendly and helpful. I ordered two chocolate frosted donuts, they have donuts, and I was honestly a bit stunned they were only $2 total. They do have higher-priced items, of course. The donuts were fresh and delicious and definitely hit the spot on a rainy, dreary day here in Indy. I appreciated that the doors were automatic doors and that there was accessible parking directly in front of the entrance. I also appreciated being able to check out Needler's, though to grab a cart you do have to go down to the Needler's entrance. While I wouldn't consider Lemon's a destination bakery, I wouldn't hesitate to stop in while in the area and this has become a nice little strip center with Needler's, a CVS, Roots Burger Bar, Rad's, and a couple other fun businesses to check out here. Business was steady in the few minutes I was here and it seems to be a stop for neighborhood families. If you're in the area and craving some baked goods Lemon's is a convenient, affordable option that also supports local!
