This is the actual smallest coffee shop you'll ever visit. If that's not on your bucket list, add it, go here, and then cross it off. You can fit one adult in the door... maybe two. We had a stroller with us and definitely couldn't bring that in, even though my husband was the only one in here. It's almost more of a coffee window in downtown Carmel. They used to be called Luxury Cakes and have a bigger shop by Sun King in Carmel. They then moved to this spot a few years ago. They have a drinks menu with coffee, lattes, matcha, tea, and more. They have an array of syrups for coffee drinks, but I think the bakery element makes this spot shine. My family calls this place the "spot with the best chocolate chip cookies." They were fresh out of the oven when we stopped in and it smelled amazing. They also have banana bread, macarons, customs cakes, and more. There were only a few options in the glass case when we stopped in, but we'll keep stopping by in the future to see what else we can try.

This is a cute stop for a coffee and a pastry. I love that you can pop in when you're in downtown Carmel or even if you are walking the Monon trail. This reminded us of a little store you'd see in a big city, as there is just enough standing room inside for whoever is ordering. I ordered an iced latte and a macaron, and both were great! I wish they had a larger variety on the pastries, but I might of shown up too late, as it was a Saturday around 11am. We were greated with friendly service and had a great customer experience.

Nice little place near the Monon Trail in Carmel. Wife and I tried it this morning. Coffee was good and the banana bread was very good. Small shop where you order and go but there is plenty of tables outside along the Monon to sit and enjoy. The woman behind the counter was very friendly as well.

It took me 3 visits to finally order macaroons and coffee at Helen (just because my timings never matched with that of Helen). Be aware this is the tiniest shop I have ever seen in Indy (just cause Indy isn't New York but ok). But apart from size, the macarons are the best I tasted. Fresh, light and delightful taste - the blueberry macaroon just was WOW! A tiny hint of blueberry goodness in the macaroon was just so right! The coffee tasted so delicious and though I didn't get the name of the coffee beans or roast, getting a great coffee at 2pm is a delight. Sheer delight. There's no place to sit inside and eat but definitely with good weather today I had a great time sitting outside where there's a lot of seating in Carmel downtown and enjoy my coffee and macaroon. Bonus: I got tempted and ordered a brownie, the size both just didn't disappoint. This place is a keeper y'all!

Delish coffee! This walk up coffee shop right next to Anthonys Chophouse is perfect for downtown Carmel. There's dozens off coffee shops, but this one's backstory and the walk up nature of it is perfect for stoping in for a quick drink while strolling downtown. I had an oat milk vanilla latte and it was perfectly sweet and creamy, yet still could taste the strong coffee flavor. I also had a sugar cookie fresh out of the oven and the cookie itself was ok, the frosting was so yummy! The exterior of the cookie was a little too hard and crisp. Interior was soft and moist though. Cute new spot! I'll be back!

Food- Snagged a couple drinks both iced lattes but one with honey. Was a little odd, both of them tasted like chocolate milk or a mocha I couldn't tell. Either way the drink wasn't what I ordered. I would have lowered the rating but the lady inside was so sweet and personable and those things matter!

The cute little coffee shop is easy to miss because it's teeny tiny but I highly recommend stopping by to grab a coffee or bakery item. I had an iced oat milk black sugar latte and it was awesome. The syrup was homemade and had great flavor. The croissant was flaky and delicious. I chatted with the owner for a few minutes and she was very personable. Nicole S raved about the chocolate chip cookies on her review of this place and there weren't any made yet when I stopped in but I'll be back to grab another drink and try the cookies!

Yuzu macaron didn't taste like yuzu or even like citrus

Possibly the smallest shop I've ever been in in my entire life, not kidding or exaggerating. From the street you're greeted by a lovely display of macarons and sweets and you can see the coffee/drink menu. Once you open the door to the shop you realize the actual space allotted for customers is about a 2 ft by 4 ft area, literally only 1 person at a time, 2 if you both are small but it'll still be crowded. I got the yuzu macarons cause most people don't know what yuzu is let alone make macarons out of it. Yuzu is a citrus, popular in Japan and the closet in taste might be a Meyer lemon. Unfortunately the macron did not taste like yuzu, it didn't particularly have a citrus taste to it at all.

Helen Coffee Shop is located near the Monon trail in Carmel. It's one block over Midtown on the same strip as 3Up Rooftop Bar. There's parking located along the road. You will most likely need to parallel park or park in a nearby parking garage. It's a cute little coffee shop. There's only space in there to order and go. The owner is kind and will get your coffee quick. The coffee is so good. I got the shaken black sugar latte with oat-milk. The pastries also looked so good! My daughter got a chocolate cupcake. There's 2 tables outside if you want to sit with a beautiful floral background. Grab your coffee and enjoy a walk around downtown Carmel!

If you find yourself in Carmel in need of a snack or beverage, this is a must stop! The former Luxury Cakes got a new name and new location! Owner Sandra said she named her new shop after her grannie that taught her to bake. She serves delicious coffee with many speciality drink selections. She has a rotating dessert menu with various flavors of macaroons, chocolate chip cookies, snickerdoodles, brownies, rice krispy treats, and many more delicious things. She makes cakes and other treats for special order. The shop is really small and just room for you to step inside to place your order. She is working on getting a pickup window. The location is super convenient for a post walk treat or coffee to take on the go. I give this my highest recommendation!!

Formerly known as Luxury Cakes, Helen's Coffee Shop is my favorite bakery and coffee shop in Carmel. The new location is a small walk-in spot where you can purchase your baked goods or drink for takeaway. For drinks, the options include cappuccinos and lattes, and the baked goods range from cookies to scones and pound cakes. I can't wait to try her macarons again, which should be available soon.

You just might miss this gem of a coffee shop! It's located right past metalmark jewelers in Carmel off the Monon! Helen has a walk-up window where you can order all sorts of drinks and pastries. She has cake, cookies, rice crispy, and macaroons! I've loved the coffees both times I've visited! She always asked about my day and what I'm up to - love a local coffee spot!

    Is there seating inside?

No, as reviews mention, the space is very small. Enough for a couple people to order standing at the counter and that is it.

This third time I was picking up 18 pastries - 3 different types- all delicious and superbly baked AND a cake. WOW! The cake was amazingly beautiful! delicious and decorated exquisitely with huge intricate frosting flowers and leaves. I'm very very happy with my order- they even helped me carry it to the car. This bakery made my special family party a huge success, everyone enjoyed the food and remarked on how delicious it looked and tasted. Thank you SO much for making the event extra special

The raspberry pistachio croissant? Oh. My. God. This thing had me in a chokehold. Flaky, buttery layers with the perfect balance of tart raspberry and rich pistachio. It wasn't just good -- it was write-home-about-it good. The kind of pastry that makes you pause mid-bite and question every other croissant you've ever had. The second was a croissant sandwich (I wish I could remember the name!), but the way those flavors paired together? Let's just say it was a full culinary experience. Savory, balanced, indulgent -- you get the hint. Every bite just made sense. Now here's the part that really says something: I grew up on the East Coast where authentic French bakeries are everywhere and the cultural standard is high. I know a proper croissant. And this? This was better. Yes, I said it. We even had the chance to speak with the owner, who was incredibly warm and genuine. He checked in to make sure we enjoyed everything -- which we clearly did, considering we left with boxes to take home. This place isn't just a pastry shop. It's an experience. And trust me, it will be a topic of discussion in our house for days. Run. Don't walk.

Super friendly the ladies that work in front are smiling and super cute. They are kind and Friendly my vanilla latte was done real fast and tastes Hmm a bit bitter then what I expected to be which means it was a bit strong for me.. not sweet enough but overall I do recommend this place for any age people to come and chat and relax eat and spend time away from home. My husband went running so I'm chilling here waiting for him. By the way the bathrooms are clean as well. After trying my vanilla latte two times, I end up asking the young ladies to make me another latte because I wanted to try something sweeter and they did it for free and actually was amazing what they gave me. Thanks so much I was not expecting that awesome treatment. Place gets crowded fast and the girls move fast as well. Not disappointed at all... I give it 10 out of 10

I imagine having the support/backing from Heartland Foods helps... The environment at this particular location is okay. I've always been confused by the meeting room in the back, which has no heating and cooling. I'll blame that on whoever took the lead on the buildout. Now for the most important question: How is the coffee? I wouldn't call myself a coffee connoisseur but I'd like to consider myself a decent judge of good quality and flavor. My home coffee preparation process includes: grinding fresh beans to a grain specific for my preferred brewing method (usually Chemex or Aeropress), heating the water to a specific temp based on the bean's country/region of origin, patience, etc. Java House's coffee is not good... I'm fairly certain they use "coffee" powder that's dissolved into water (think Nestle instant coffee) then placed in pressurized kegs that are then either heated or cooled before being poured via a tap. This is not a place you go to experience good coffee. I believe Java House appeals more to certain coffee drinkers who enjoy adding flavors, sweeteners, milks/creams, etc. and not those interested in the art of growing, roasting, brewing, etc. If you're chasing quality coffee in the area, I suggest checking out either Indie Coffee Roasters, Illumine Coffee, or Eggshell (if you can figure out Eggshell's hours). If broken down, my rating would be: 2.5 stars for the successes and environment .5 star for the coffee For the Java House folks: If I'm totally off regarding my assumption of how you brew, please feel free to correct me!
