I love Italian food and Stacco House has been on my list of new (to me) places to visit for quite some time. Yesterday, I decided that I would not be cooking dinner and instead opted to order pizza and dessert to be picked up on my way home. This is such a cute, quaint little shop located in a tiny strip mall next to a gas station. So very unassuming, yet quite impressive. I loved the two cute yellow tables and chairs out on the sidewalk as well as the Sinatra that was playing when I entered the shop. I was greeted warmly and let me say how much I value a pleasant and genuine interaction like that. Someone came to the front of the store from the kitchen in the back, and she too greeted me with a very welcoming and warm smile. This fact alone makes me want to return and support this place of business. My pizzas were prepared fresh and handed to me hot out of the oven. The deserts, an assortment of 3 different kinds of cookies as well as two slices of cake, were kept separate and cold. My husband loved the pizza (he is somewhat of a connoisseur) and I enjoyed it as well. The carrot cake was a bit dense for my liking and the pistachio ricotta was decadent. My husband really enjoyed these sweet treats as a night cap! I loved the cookies. I ordered the Peanut Butter Brownie Swirl cookie, the Pistachio Chocolate Crunch cookie, and two of the Pistachio Thumbprint cookies. My personal favorite was the Pistachio Chocolate Crunch cookie. It had a great contrast in texture with the soft-baked cookie being perfectly complemented by the crunch of the pistachio pieces, and it wasn't overly sweet. I'll definitely be back to try more cookies, cakes and pastries in the future! They also carry some authentic imported Italian products, such as pomodoro sauce. read more

Stopped by on a weekday while running errands in the area. I was looking for just a coffee and maybe a cannoli to give to a friend I was meeting. I left with my own container of goodies. Highlights were the black & white cookie, Italian cookie, and lemon curd cookie. The chocolate truffle and dipped chocolate cookie were loved by my husband and my friend loved the pistachio cannoli! We finally stopped in here yesterday to snag some sweet treats for dinner. We thoroughly enjoyed our pistachio cheesecake (moist layers of cheese cake and a pistachio cream) and our olive oil limoncello cake. Both were subtle and delightful. They also offer gelato, made to order cannolis, a variety of Italian cookies, sandwiches, lasagna and wine. Note to self for next time: they have chocolate al dense (spoonable hot chocolate!). We happenstanced upon this little gastronomic gem, after checking out the luncheon offerings at Fat Dan' s deli. This well-maintained, upscale establishment has an amazing selection of sweet and savory options. The staff are friendly and attentive. After two visits, we've sampled their tiramisu, triple chocolate cake, key lime pie, entremet hazelnut praline, cannoli, palmier cookie, Nutella & wild berry occhi de bue pastries, and their wonderful hot chocolate. So far, there has not been a selection we wouldn't gladly choose again on a future visit. If one wants to treat oneself (which should be done regularly...especially if one has achieved an advanced age); this location provides an excellent opportunity. read more

I had the chocolate mousse cake. I am pretty sure this is a food service product, not house made. The top was rubbery. I had a scoop of chocolate gelato. It had a stringy rubbery piece in it. Grabbed a flight of desserts on the way home after visiting the Kristkindlmarket in Carmel and this was a fantastic gem to find! I almost bought the squid pasta, but decided I would just have to come back on my next visit and spend more time in the shop. It was not close to me - but after a mediocre trip to their neighbors place I stopped by and bought a few dessert items. The one I just tried was a slice of carrot cake. It was a spiritual delight - almost as delightful as the young woman who sold it to me. They don't have a place to sit and enjoy something spontaneously - but honestly - if I wasn't driving back across town - my hands would have been quite sticky by 2 roundabouts away. I have ordered coffee from this cute little shop in the strip before so I decided to give it another try, except this time, I ordered the pastries. To start off this post, Kristine, was amazing and does very well with creating new unique creations. I ordered her Nutella cookies and a few of the new little Nutella mini bite size cookies she was creating and I've never experienced such a creamy/crunchy cookie that just fit well together as these did. Stopped in this past Saturday. Was told about this place by a friend. Being from the North East and knowing what authentic is, I want to say the food was ok. I got a chicken parm and a meatball parm a few cookies, an espresso and an Italian hot chocolate.. My question, like someone else had wrote below about the bakery goods. The place is way to small to make in house. Most of the cake slices and mini treats are obviously pre packaged. So I wonder where they get the goods from and how long they sit before they renew. The service was good. Counter help was polite and pleasant. I grew up in the 70s and 80s in the North East and remember the smells of the food, bread and baked goods being made IN HOUSE. Stacco House had none of this. If I was blindfolded walking in I would never know I was in an Italian Bakery. It had more of a smell of a standard coffee house. Stacco passed, but in a way that was sort of disappointing. If you are going to call yourself authentic cuisine maybe try a little harder then to just have some Dean Martin playing in the background. A friend brought me here as a little treat. It's amazing! I like how they have dairy and non dairy options for gelato. And the chicken parm sandwich was to die for! Very fresh! Stopped by today to try some various items, having just spotted this place on Yelp. We got a few cookies along with a meatball sub and a chicken parm sub. The chicken parm was pretty good, while the meatball was very good. A chocolate chip cookie was also a very very good offering but the thing that surprised me was the black and white cookie. I grew up with these on the east coast and love them, but have never had a good one in Indiana. Well that just changed. It's summer time in Indiana, and one day I had some time to kill before my workout. I headed to Stacco House by Mammamia for some gelato to cool off. They have some of the best gelato in the area, and they have great service every time I go. There's not a lot of seating, just a little table inside and a little table outside. I ordered my gelato and asked if I could sit inside for a bit. I saw this sign for Italian bombolones for Saturday and decided I would make a trip back for this special. I was looking for a good bakery to get about 300 cookies to add to the desserts at my daughter's wedding. I searched online for places, and I liked the looks of Stacco House the best from the online search. I called and actually spoke to the pastry chef Kristine a couple times, and she was very helpful. The pictures of the cookies online looked great, but when I picked up the cookies and saw them in person, they looked even bigger and better than the pictures! The staff did a great job of wrapping them and loading them in the car. And the cookies were absolutely delicious, and a really big hit at the wedding! Several people at the wedding mentioned to me that they thought the idea of cookies would be boring- until they saw and tasted the cookies. Exceeded everyone's expectations. A couple of my favorites were actually the gluten free ones, and I am not gluten free. They have a gelato menu, a glass case full of baked goods and handmade desserts, a savory menu with both hot and cold options, a wine rack with Italian wines, handmade pastas to cook at home, and assorted packages of olive oils, vinegars, truffle sauces, pasta sauces, and pastas. I liked that it was not too sweet, had a great crisp, and the jam added a good texture element. 4 stars - Focaccia bread and Italian baguette. Great portion size to try both. I skipped on the ciabatta this time. The focaccia was herby. Just like I like it. Was a tad dry but not off putting. Next time I will try the tiramisu. And a couple more treats. This might be my favorite eatery in Carmel. You can get food here, like three different types of sandwiches and five different types of lasagna. But you can also get small Italian desserts, slices of cake, gelato, coffee, bottles of Italian wine and more. It's a delicious and Stacco House has all of the things I love in this little shop / restaurant. We visited the first time for the gelato and desserts. We got the stracciatella in a cup and a cone for the kids, but I couldn't get just gelato when there was a whole case of desserts staring at me. Of course, Stacco House has the easily identifiable Italian desserts like cannoli and tiramisu. But they also offer pistachio ricotta cake, panna cotta, napoleons and crostata, as well as cookies like palmieres, biscotti, pizzicati and more. I couldn't decide, so we got a rainbow cookie, a cherry amaretti, a cookie called a chocolate dipper and a slice of frutti di Bosco, which tasted like a cheesecake with fresh fruit on top. I'll be back to try the dozen other cookies and cakes they have that I didn't get a chance to try. We went back the very next day and got a meatball sandwich, suppli (which is like a bigger and saucier arancini), and caramel panna cotta. Everything we got was amazing and I'm already planning on how I'm going to make my way through the menu. There is no dining room here, so all your food purchases must be taken to go. Just got takeout lasanga, suppli, and the best cannoli I've had in Indiana. Also this is my new favorite cafe when I needed an espresso boost in Carmel. The restaurants has really re-invented itself, expanding the kitchen, eliminating in-door seating, and focusing on carry out and delivery orders. The lasagna comes in a microwave safe dish and heats up really well. NO CASH at this time. Credit cards and gift cards only, and the terminal is facing the customer. Have been coming here for years but today the owner lost our business. We had a toddler and we were getting dessert after having dinner. The owner was instantly annoyed that we brought children in. He told the lady waiting on us to hurry. She tried to get the gelato orders done so we could take the kids outside and he kept pacing back and forth. The toddler kicked the case at the bottom and it made a noise and he looked at me and said, "Come on he has to go now."
