Order my wedding cake from here. And it was terrible! I only ordered the cake for a cutting--it wasn't served so I can't speak for the taste, but the cake was a sloppy mess! I had ribbons around each tier with bows on the front and they didn't bother to hide the seams, the ribbons were coming apart in the back. They looked NOTHING like the photo I provided. The edging on the ribbon was wiggly and sloppy. I also provided a color swatch, a 2"x2" solid swatch, with the color I wanted. It was a sprinkles cake, so the color would never be exact b/c it's a mix of sprinkles, but it WASN'T EVEN CLOSE! I wanted a nice, average lavender and it was royal blue. Very frustrated b/c you don't see the cake until the last minute before guests are let in the reception. They should be embarrassed about the quality of their work. read more

I've been married four months now and had yet to review Classic Cakes. My emotions are pretty mixed regarding their services. The ordering process was smooth, although the girl helping me could have been nicer, but I get that they have tons of work to do and frankly as long as I got what I ordered I wasn't offended about her people skills. Well, guess what? They didn't get my order right. My cake was approx $650 and I actually made monthly payments from April-Oct 2015 to have it paid off in time for my December wedding. It was like a car payment for me. Well, the outside of the cake was beautiful. I was completely happy with that. It was the inside. The fillings were either wrong and/or absent. When I first inquired about this the owner basically just threw $100 back at me and probably thought that would be the end of me. Unfortunately, the money wasn't the issue and I needed a better explanation. CC says its one of the BEST wedding bakers in the country and that they take care of you. Well, they got my cake wrong. I have one wedding cake and one only. They didn't take enough care to make it right and that doesn't make a baker "one of the best" in the country. Apparently, their chocolate truffle filling is amazing... Well, I wouldn't know because the last time I tasted it was in April at my first appointment. My friend and I were looking for a tasty cake for our wedding so she had scheduled appointments throughout the area. Classic Cakes was our second stop of the day. I don't know what all of the fuss is about. We both felt that their icing and fillings were lousy. The butter cream frosting tasted just like Crisco and their fillings tasted like they were squeezed out of a plastic bag. I will say that their cakes are decorated beautifully but as for taste, there are way better cakes out there. read more

Classic Cakes does an amazing job with their creativity and design. I would rate them 5 stars for this and for the moistness of their cake. However, their frosting is disgusting. It has more of a "crisco" taste to it rather than a traditional buttercream. We stopped ordering from them because our guests never ate the frosting. Maybe they have changed their frosting recipe since we stopped ordering from them. I am not sure. But if they haven't, you can find better bakeries. read more

I really want to like this place but unfortunately, it just wasn't special. My wife and I placed an order for a 10 inch birthday cake. We asked for a chocolate flavored cake with mocha filling. The cake texture was stale and the mocha filling was thinly layered, comparable to Betty crocker. The fondant was more than 1 inch thick and was unbelievably heavy. To paint a picture, when you cut the cake, you actually have to use a spoon to dig out the cake because the Fondant stands still while the stale cake breaks apart completely. If you want a cake for presentation purposes, classic cake truly does a great job. If you want a cake to eat, you might as well go down the street and buy some cake mix and make it yourself. read more

Classic Cakes was my go to cake shop in Indy for celebrations! Since we've moved out of state, I've been on the hunt for my new Classic Cakes but to no avail. Sure, there are some cake shops in Indy who make cakes just as tasty (some even a little tastier) but the price and customer service doesn't compare. Classic Cakes create excellent customized cakes and have a great selection of walk-in cakes (which I used often). I tended to choose their fruity cakes such as lemon, orange, raspberry, etc. We had an event once and needed the icing to match something so at our tasting they created the colored icing right there. They had no hesitation or irritation (like some bakeries do) at doing so or letting us sample the flavors even with our indecisive-ness. read more

My wife and I chose Classic Cakes to provide our wedding cake in September 2015, and we could not have asked for a better experience. There are a plethora of flavor options and the tasting experience managed to showcase many of those options without overwhelming us, a huge plus while in the midst of wedding planning. The cake was ready and delivered on time for our ceremony. The cake was so popular that we actually did not get any at our own wedding (aside from the ceremonial cutting taste)! We ended up choosing three tiers and flavors (vanilla, raspberry, and lemon orange almond I believe) which was a nice way to get variety. All three turned out great. The best part, though, was how well our cake top stayed for over a year. We weren't able to enjoy the top until about 15 months after our wedding, and we were amazed with how delicious our cake tasted that long afterwards. We had heard several disheartening stories about cakes with freezer-burn and subpar quality after storage, so this was a very pleasant surprise. We picked up a second topper on our way to visit, just in case the frozen one was terrible, and thus can verify the frozen one tasted as good as new! I would highly recommend Classic Cakes for any of your pastry needs, but especially for your wedding cake. read more

This is by far my favorite cake place in Indiana. I have turned many people onto it and have purchased cakes and took them out of state with me. My old phone number was a digit away from their's and I used to get calls all the time asking if it was Classic Cake's. Everyone that called had wonderful things to say about it so I needed to try it. That was 17 years ago and I'm still driving 30 minutes away to pick up cakes. We were on the tail end of a long road trip and were going to be in Indianapolis for my son's 3rd birthday. I searched online for cakes in Indy and fell in love with Classic Cakes. As we got closer and closer to Indy it was apparent that we weren't going to make the pick up time. The team at Classic Cakes came to the rescue!! They delivered the beautifully decorated masterpiece to our hotel. Their customer service was incredible, every time I called I was greeted with a smile and happy person. And the cake was everything my son (and I) dreamed. My son loved his cake so much he could hardly stop giggling in order to eat it. Indianapolis you have a gem of a cake bakery in your city! I am OBSESSED with Classic Cakes. Their raspberry flavor is absolutely amazing - as are the rest, but especially the raspberry. I used them for my wedding day - having a small cake and 200 cupcakes - they made everything so easy for me, and everything turned out amazing! So I was really excited about our cake for our wedding this past summer and thought it was going to be a total hit...that is until I saw it at our reception. We had opted for the rustic tree bark design with our initials etched into the side. When we went to cut the cake, I realized half of the cake had been gouged out and and someone had clearly tried to fix it. I was confused about what happened to the cake only to be told later that evening that Classic Cakes had put the WRONG INITIALS on the cake and our photographers tried to fix it. The cake also looked nothing like we had planned. I wish I could positively recommend Classic Cakes because I had such a great first impression and cake tasting. I ordered an elaborate Sweet 16 cake for my daughters party. This cake was $760. I have no problem with the price, but at that price my expectation was high much as you would have for your wedding cake. The artwork was sloppy, and the flavors were stacked improperly so it was impossible to cut and serve as intended. The most upsetting part is that I went to their store to voice my dissatisfaction, and never received a phone call or anything else. I have bought many cakes from here but will never return. Classic Cakes was amazing this afternoon! I'm in California and needed cupcakes in our Carmel, IN office. I called Classic Cakes and asked the impossible. I needed cupcakes within the hour for an office event...decorated with pink frosting. Jen, the office manager, didn't skip a beat. She put me on a brief hold and within an hour and a half I had 72 beautifully decorated cupcakes delivered to our Carmel office. I not only got my receipt emailed to me but a photo of our order! My daughter and son-In-law chose Classic Cakes after several tastings with other bakeries. The wedding cake tasted ok, but the service was disappointing to say the least. The delivery staff were not friendly at all. The cake was an hour late. Classic Cakes didnt bother to make a courtesy call letting us know they were behind schedule. When the cake was finally delivered it was SOMEONE ELSE'S cake. Classic Cakes eventually delivered my daughter and son-in-law's cake AFTER the wedding ceremony ended. We did not receive as much as a phone call apologizing for their carelessness. I have two other daughters who will not even consider Classic Cakes when we begin planning their weddings. This whole experience has been extremely disappointing. The good news is, the 100 guests in attendance noticed how rude the delivery staff were and are aware of the mishap. My fiancé got my birthday cake from here. He called a few days in advance and needed a last minute cake. They advised that they didn't have any white cakes so he picked a strawberry (why??? I'm not faulting classic cakes for that choice) with buttercream icing. When he mentioned he was getting the cake on Tuesday for a Thursday birthday I was concerned the cake would be dry, but he said that he was assured it would be moist. He also requested that there be no red icing on the cake (it has a weird chemical taste to me). We were bad and had they cake a day early. The cake tasted STALE and was dense, it had orange icing on it with the chemical taste, and cream cheese frosting (not what was requested/ what was going to be on it). Overall, the flavor of the cake tasted like a strawberry box cake with some strawberries mixed in. I'm not normally a fan of strawberry cakes so that might just be how they taste but it wasn't too pleasant. The cake was decorated nicely minus the red icing based color. If you just care about cake appearance then this is probably the place for you for the price. If you are focused on having a delicious cake, try something else. This was a step above a Walmart cake but not much. Luckily my mom is saving the day with a Cake Bake cake (they just needed 48 hours notice). #motherknowsbest read more

Outstanding! From the tasting they kindly accommodated at the last minute , to the phenomenal cake that we had at my daughter's recent wedding. Guests were asking for seconds! The caterer said that was unheard of for a wedding cake, as they advised us to order less. The design for the cake was selected by my daughter and expertly executed.
