We contracted "Classic Restoration and Construction" to complete a "toilet water backup" project for us. Their work and all of their sub-contractors work was outstanding. The Project Manager, Eddy Perez, was easy to work with, understood our eagerness to return to our home and scheduled the work accordingly. Also, of special note, was "New Generation Contractors" owner Gerardo and his employee's Alex and Giovanni (Gio). Their skills related to drywall repair, tile installation and painting were exceptional. I would highly recommend them for this type of project. Very poor quality work.. took 5 months to re-do our kitchen . Most weeks they only worked 1-2 days. They broke the vent on the microwave and it had to be replaced, flooring is poorly installed. I don't often write reviews, but my experience with this company has been so poor that I want to warn other potential customers. Tl;dr: Company has nonexistent communication, does shoddy work, and not a single person in the organization acknowledged there was problem with the workmanship, communication, or apologized for the issues we had, leading me to believe this is standard for this company and that most customers do not complain or make them do work correctly. Issues: Classic Restoration was chosen for us by AAA, as we had a water leak that caused enough damage for us to put it through our Home Insurance policy. We had to replace all the laminate floors in our downstairs, and completely tear out and redo our master shower, toilet and powder room toilet. They came highly recommended by our adjuster, and while we were starting the claims process, our Project Manager, Ben, was extremely responsive and helpful. Once our project began, and we moved out of our house into a hotel, communication died. We were not provided updates on timelines although we asked for them repeatedly. We asked for revised estimates due to changes we made and were never provided them. We were told that painting was going to happen on Thursday, go by the house on Saturday and painting hadn't started. This also happened when our new floors were supposed to be laid, and work in the bathroom shower was supposed to start. It all culminated when we were told that our house would be completed on Saturday, July 1st. Our insurance adjuster told us to move out of the hotel as our house would be done that day. We were out of town for the holiday weekend, and arrived home Sunday night, to a home with the shower NOT completed, no toilet installed, and our water off. No one told us that our work was incomplete, and we had to turn our water on ourselves and thankfully had another toilet upstairs we could use for the night. When the workers came Monday, July 3rd to finish the bathroom, they did a horrible job with the tile work in our bathroom. The tile was not straight, the corners did not match up, in one section there was actually a divot that looked like someone had pushed the tile into the wall. They had pulled the tile out further than it had been previously right to the edge of our towel rack and had actually grouted the towel rack INTO the edge of the shower rather than moving it. I complained and made them redo the work. It took an extra 3.5 weeks to complete. The day before the work was completed, I was told at 2:30 pm that workers had been at my house that day getting everything done right, and to please check it when I got home. When I arrived home at 4:45p, the worker had only arrived 15 minutes earlier and had not started work at all yet. I'm not sure if I was purposefully lied to or whether the issue lay with between the contractor and subcontractor. I chose tile for the job on June 11th. The tile was ordered and originally put in 3 weeks later on July 1st. In that time I repeatedly asked for updates on what the tile I chose cost vs. my estimate and was never provided an update. When I went to MSI, the wholesale company, to pick out the tile, I was informed I should have come with my contractor as MSI would not provide pricing information. I simply had to pick tile I liked, and hope that it fit within my budget. I had to do the whole thing flying blind. When the job was finally completed correctly, I asked again for an itemized invoice showing the actual costs of the tile I chose. I was denied, and told that actually I chose something more expensive but that they "elected" to only charge me my estimate due to "frustrations" with the job. This may be true, but I believe that I chose cheaper tile, and the fact that they wouldn't provide me with actual costs makes me suspicious and leaves me with a feeling of distrust and unease. Throughout the entire process, and especially during the last 3.5 weeks of waiting for the company to fix the poorly installed tile, it became apparent that the company has absolutely no customer service skills or pride in their work. The last few weeks I was working with Ajay, who I believe is the president of the company. He kept asking for final payment, and I would have to remind him of additional issues that needed to be fixed before I would send it. Not once was I apologized to for the faulty workmanship, not once did anyone even acknowledge that there was an issue, they only acknowledged that I was unhappy with the product. No one stated that this was not their standard of workmanship. This leads me to believe that they often do subpar work, and that most customers do not complain and allow them to get away with it. Eventually they did finally complete the job to professional standards, but I do not recommend this company at all, and urge you to choose another contractor. read more

If you want a company that truly cares about their customers and does quality work, do not hire this company. The project manager was difficult and used COVID as an excuse for every delay during our kitchen remodel. He charged us for product we did not receive and cut corners in every way possible. The sub-contractors were even worse and did poor quality work causing them to return to our home several times to correct their errors. We were without a fully functioning kitchen for 8 months, and they had the nerve to charge us for product we did not select in the first place. After our slab leak was repaired and Servpro had dried very thing out, Marcus arrived to go over the restoration of the damage that was done. He brought in Gustavo to do he work. All I can say is that Gustavo is a true craftsman. His work is spectacular. He made several trips to home depot making sure the paint on our cabinets was a match. everything got put back together like it was new. Marcus stayed in touch during the entire process making sure we were pleased with the work being done. Overall a great experience.............except for the slab leak itself !!!! read more

I can't say enough about the restoration and near-remodel that CRC did for us after a flood in our home. (The mitigation part was done by another company who was very u ethical in charges to the insurance and quotes to us) Luis and Carlos were on time every day, cleaned up every day and discussed their work with us, supervised by Marcus. Full tiled bathroom, hardwood floors and painted throughout after installation of drywall, etc. so professional and great guys. A nasty leak, and a AAA Insurance referral, brought Marcus to us. Once we selected our (upgraded) materials, they went to work. On time, cleaned up daily, good quality workmanship on drywall, wallpaper removal, skin coating, painting, flooring install (on stairs too), hardwood sanding/staining/refinishing. How do you write a review when absolutely no restoration work has taken place? ...and they still end up with an unfortunate rating of (less than) one star. This was an insurance repair through AAA, their recommended company, not my choice. Based on the negative insurance repair reviews, mostly through AAA, I got whammied twice. The process started out through their office in Canoga Park and "finished" with the man office here. I should have known better when they sent a boy to do a "man's" job. There were so many delays caused by both the contractor and AAA. In all fairness, there were delays on my end as well. They were born out of this being a completely new experience for me and wanting to make sure I understood everything, every charge, each step of the way. I asked, as long as my kitchen needed to be fully replaced could I make some changes, at my expense. I was NEVER told no, literally about anything I asked. It was not until the main office was involved that I found out that that was a no-no. Even at that, when the repair estimate was revised for my changes, it was thousands more than a previous revision! There were new charges, changes in measurements and changes in other costs. Not good. I am jumping ahead though. There were unreturned telephone messages and e-mails and a general lack of communication and seemingly interest. I do not want to write a novella here but almost nothing went right from the beginning. Major water leak in kitchen discovered August 1, 2022. AAA screws up and then finally I get this company to intervene. Initial contact mid-September 2022. Now, SIX-6-MONTHS LATER, I am no closer to having this situation resolved than when they were first contacted. My patience worn out, I have now 86'd this unprofessional and incompetent company and am moving on by trying to find a new contractor. With all the inclement weather and calamities, that is proving challenging. However, let us not forget what got me here, MOSTLY this company. What a terrible experience for anyone to have, needing major house repairs through your insurance company - compounded by my situation. This experience has been tortuous. No kitchen for seven and a half months, an incredible inconvenience therefrom. OUCHIE! My suggestion - do NOT use this company! Hire wandering minstrels or hope for construction elves to appear and do the work while you are asleep, ANYONE but these people. Your choice. Do not just believe me but read the other insurance related reviews and then decide. It should make you think twice about how/why there is such a disparity in reviews. Much luck to you if you are in a similar situation. Oh yeah, eating out at the same to go places gets old after a while. Bonus... there are no dishes to do. Pin hole leak dry out and restoration - May 2011. My father is a retired owner of a water/fire restoration company. So, I went into this pin hole leak (mess) with a pretty good idea of what to expect. Classic restoration was sent out by my insurance company. They were beyond professional, set appropriate expectations up front, and the owner himself visited the work site & made himself available for any questions (even though I never felt the need to call - his team was on top of everything). When everything was finished, everything looked brand new and you couldn't even tell there had even been a leak. Now, three years later, I'm reminded of how easy they were to work with by going through a much smaller dry out project. So our previous tenants totally trashed the house leaving us with very little time to fix everything in time for our new tenants to move in. Sunday evening I opened the door to my guest bedroom in anticipation of guests arriving. The tile floor was wet and warm and the room felt like a sauna. Slab leak! Turned off the water to the house and went without water until it could be replumbed overhead (1 week). Servpro removed all the insullation and dry wall and boards. The water managed to damage the garage, guest bath, master bath and guest bedroom. STAY AWAY!! This company is a JOKE! I called this company on a Monday and asked for someone to come out and give us an estimate for water damage that occurred following a leak from our upstairs master bath down into our living room. They told us the soonest they could come out would be the following week on a Thursday (TEN DAYS LATER!!). I told them I would need to speak to my husband and would call them back if we decided to schedule. Since some of the other companies that our insurance company were "familiar with" (as the insurance evaluator put it) didn't have the best reviews, we decided to go out on a limb and schedule the appointment with Newreal, Inc. I called them back and spoke to a different girl (one of the girls' names was Tara, but I honestly can't remember if it was the first or second one with whom I spoke), who scheduled the appointment for the following Thursday between 8-9am. In the meantime, we had another company come out to do the drying process, and they mentioned having someone come out to spray and treat the area for possible mold/fungus. My husband called Newreal, Inc. back to see if they do that treatment, which they said they did. He also asked if they could come out sooner, as at this point we have a 2'x8' hole in our ceiling. The girl with whom he spoke (who was the first girl who originally spoke with me, but not the girl who made the appointment) told him that they didn't have any earlier appointments. So, my husband confirmed the appointment for the following Thursday. Fast forward to today (Thursday...10 days of waiting for them to come...). They were scheduled to be at our house between 8-9am. When 9:30am finally rolled around, which I felt was enough of an extension to give them, I called the company. The same girl with whom I originally spoke the first time I called Newreal, Inc. answered the phone. I inquired about the status of their employee, and after she put me on hold for 2-3 minutes, she came back on to tell me "I'm sorry, but the girl who made your appointment no longer works here, so your appointment never made it into our books." EXCUSE ME???!!! Unless she was let go or quit in the 2 seconds it took me to request the appointment and her to schedule me, how could it not have made it into the books? And even IF that was the case, my husband called back and spoke to this other girl (the one who was talking to me right now), who CONFIRMED the appointment at that time. So if she could confirm it to him at that time, she obviously KNEW of the appointment. I told them that this was completely unacceptable, and that we have been waiting for almost TWO WEEKS for this appointment. She told me they could send someone out tomorrow, but at this point, we can't trust this company. Not to mention, both my husband and I work, and we both already took today off just so they could no-show on us. I told her that they needed to send someone out TODAY considering this was THEIR error, but she just kept saying, "I'm sorry, but I can't do that." Well, then, I can't give them a good review. In fact, I'm only giving them one star because I HAVE to...I'd give them zero stars if the system allowed me to do so!
