I have eaten at many restaurants in nyc and this place gives NY a run for their money. Their lobster rolls are GREAT! I really couldn't believe it. Their seafood chowder was amazing. Prices are good, food was great and the owner even came out to where we were seated and made sure that our meal and experience was up to par, even though my daughter had a Yankee cap on lol. It's a very family friendly atmosphere that let's you enjoy the view with great food. Only bad thing was that I wasn't able to go back and get a seafood chowder and lobster roll before I went home back to NY. I will 1000% return to this place and highly recommend it. read more

Really good! Of course we got a lobstah roll with fries and coleslaw, seafood chowder and a lobster quesadilla. It's was all delicious :) Pricey but that's how it is if you want fresh seafood on the coast! Not too bad though, $43 for the two of us. Just read a hilarious one star review by Stephen Z and the owner's reply that totally made us want to go. First, we were definitely given the ten cent bag of chips but the wind blew them away! Second, and more importantly, the lobster rolls were delicious! So much lobster! Great view from our table, gorgeous weather, and the owner walked around asking everyone how their meals were. My wife and I came up to lobster fest for the weekend and we happened to find Claws while doing a yelp search. We were so impressed with how good the food and service was. It was so good we had to go back again the next day. The lobsters were fresh and amazing. The price was also great! The chowder was delicious it had so much seafood it was heaven with every bite. The service was great, they were so friendly and attentive! We were able to speak to the owner and he was such a great guy and has a great vision for his restaurant and his town! After years of freeloading off the trials and errors of Yelp reviewers, I created a Yelp account to review Claws. The lobster roll is simply phenomenal. Hand picked fresh local lobster, with a very light mayonnaise dressing and a superbly toasted buttery bun. The lobster is absolute top quality. We also had the seafood chowder and the clam dip. I thought the clam dip was fine (if not spectacular), but the chowder was great. They also have a great selection of local and non-local domestic and imported beers. I had the Belfast Lobster Ale - perfect for washing down a truly delectable lobster roll. Nice outdoor seating and extremely friendly staff will make the choice to return an even easier one. I consider myself to be something of a lobster roll expert, and I have to say the rolls at Claws are as good as it gets. Like, as good as Red's Eats or Larson's Lunchbox (other leaders in the Down East lobster roll business). Part of why I feel compelled to spread the Claws gospel is because of the threat posed to small mom 'n pop lobster roll operations like Claws by the big corporate chain lobster roll operation (Linda Bean's) that is spreading across mid coast Maine like a barbarian horde that serves mediocre lobster rolls. When you are driving through downtown Rockland and looking for a lobster roll, keep going on Route 1 until you get to Claws. I promise you will be glad you did. read more

This is the place we came for lighter meal. We came here a couple of times to order soup and salad to take back to the hotel room. (Lobster fest food was awful, actually got sick). I have never EVER walked out of a restaurant without eating, but we did here. We ordered our food and were very excited. The place was busy and after 45 minutes, the people just before us were just getting their food. We waited another 15 minutes giving them the benefit of the doubt since we had ordered something gluten-free. Finally, we asked a server about our food. She said she was ready to walk out and was fed up with the kitchen staff. A little bit later we asked another server to check on our food. She was pleasant and told us she was hounding them. She brought out food, but it wasn't ours. We asked ANOTHER server to check on our food. Finally, after an HOUR and a HALF we asked for a refund. They made some excuse about the ticket falling behind something, apologized, and said they would get our food out in a few minutes. At this point I was in tears and my two kids were starving. After waiting so long, and speaking to every server we had little faith that we would get our food in a few minutes. When we said we just wanted a refund, she yelled to the kitchen to throw out our food. They gave us a refund, but still charged us for our drinks. read more

Great reputation brings crowds that overwhelm its limited parking, long lines and wait times to order. Waited over 1/2 hour to order. The good? So this is not a sit down restaurant. You order at the shack and get from window when your number is called. Outdoor seating in enclosed porch with heaters. One person takes order and then gets your drinks so the line really backs up. Food was good but seemed a bit pricey. $19 for lobster roll (again not a sit down restaurant). Lobster bisque was good. The best fried clams ever. We travel all around New England and have yet to find clams this good. Different tempora and a light crispy coating bring it all together. OMG. We were so lucky to find this Lobster restaurant in Rockland. Our first visit to Maine, I went to CLAWS twice. I had the best lobster rolls in my life. The food was terrific, prices very reasonable, the setting was perfect....picnic tables with a view of the water. I cannot say enough except I wish there was a CLAWS restaurant near me in Virginia! My boyfriend and I are from the Portland area and had a wedding to go to this weekend at the somerset. We decided to step out and grab lunch because we both enjoy good food when we go places we love to try new spots. We found this little gotten gem with the lake view that was great and decided to stop in. I had the grill salmon sandwich with the corn on a cobb and a bean salad. When the lady told me to try the bean salad I told her I didn't want anything heavy. The grill salmon was grill to perfection the corn on a Cobb was so fresh it didn't even stick to my teeth! My boyfriend had a clam boat with fries and Cole slaw! I must say I normally never eat his fried clams but I took a bite of one and ended up eating more than just one! The batter was light but yet so flavorful! We're going back up to Rockport in two weeks and we're definitely going back! read more

We saw an ocean side shack with a line and decided to stop. It was an excellent choice. My crabcake burger was flavorful and filling and my Wife's fish tacos came with great sauce and were equally delicious. The place seems more authentic than touristy, so I would definitely recommend going all out on the seafood options. The outdoor seating and picnic tables were difficult with a toddler (they only have 1-2 high chairs and it's tough to squeeze them in) but great for meeting fellow eaters. Also - the VERY friendly lady who takes you order has been mentioned in these reviews a couple times, and it is correct - she is VERY friendly. With a clientele that is mostly traveling through and not sure what to get, that means that ordering may be more of a conversation...and that the line actually moves pretty slowly. She was definitely helpful, but just be aware, you're likely to be queued for a bit. read more

Searched for the best lobster near me in Rockland and Claws came up first. Good reviews..lobster isn't for me I guess. My husband's was good and tender but mine not so much. Also so red stuff came out of the tail that his didn't have. The roll dipped in butter was ok. I don't eat slaw and was over it by the corn. This is after two lobster roll experiences, one with mayo and one with butter and both were tough. So sticking to shrimp and fish. I did fill up on fries and a roll. read more

On a ME road trip with my parents from Old England in New England, we stopped here based on yelp recommendations.
