4.5 out of five. Cheeseburger was good but does a piece of cheese really cost $2? Shrimp and chips was good but the sauce had a lot of horseradish. The salad was "what I needed" according to my wife. The boy thought the au jus was so good he drank it. Convenient. Friendly staff. Lots of space. Needs a beer list . Stoutcast.com

Patty melt with fries. Both superb!
    Retired On The Oregon C.

My wife and I just had our first dinner there since the original owners bought it back, remodeled and reopened the restaurant. So we had no expectations. We were pleasantly surprised! The restaurant was clean and well decorated with what looked like new tables and fresh paint. The menu is comprehensive American family fare, which in Florence is refreshing. We live here and there really isn't any other place that tours itself as family friendly. My wife ordered a smashed cheeseburger with onion rings. I ordered a patty melt with the included fries. Both orders exceeded our expectations. The patty melt was one of the best I've ever had, perfectly cooked, with cheese, caramelized onions and marble rye bread. Perfect. The fries were double fried so soft in the middle and crunchy on the outside. My wife's burger was also excellent. Both our burgers had fresh hamburger with great flavor. Definitely not from frozen patties. She's very picky with burgers and really liked it. Her onion rings were also exceptional. Not too greasy and also tasted freshly prepared. You take a bite and you don't get the entire onion piece sliding out of the breading. Last the servers were awesome, friendly, polite, and very positive. You could tell they were making a great effort to ensure patrons were happy with their meals and experience. Overall, 5 out of 5. It'll be nice when they get their beer and wine license but we understand that can take some time. Otherwise we will definitely make this a regular restaurant stop in our town of Florence!

    Chicken tenders

The cheese curds were good. The burger was super greasy and underwhelming, but not terrible. The fries are crispy, but bland. The chicken tenders are possibly worse than the ones that come in a tv dinner. The service was great- wouldn't change a thing there. She took a soda off (I didn't ask for anything, just expressed that the chicken strips weren't great) to make up for the little disappointment. It's nice sitting outside and there was a cute little family of baby birds in a nest near our table that offered some free entertainment. I'd just say, mostly unless they change their chicken tenders, I'd avoid them. Otherwise not a bad stop.

Fried chicken with squash. You should also try the chowder.

We had a great dinner at Clawson's, which generally serves American diner fare. Our server took our entire order by memory and nailed it. He was able to achieve the balance of attentive without being overbearing. Genuine. Although my whole party chose breakfast for dinner, I got the fried chicken with vegetables. Those squash were really good. The chicken rivaled the best fried I've had in Kentucky. I'd totally come again!

The worst. Lasr Sunday morning 11 am. Here for brunch. Service. 1 star. Started out casual/friendly but no follow through. No offer to refill our coffee. Not even once. Ambience. 1 star. For the nicely framed American flag. No curtains. All hard surfaces. Very loud as diners chatted and sound bounced off hard floors, walls, pictures... absolutely no piece of fabric in the whole room. The place is split into two rooms, we were on the left side. We started out on the right side but it was so loud with a woman at the next table that we moved. Either side is very loud. Wait time. 0 stars. Incredibly long wait. Food. 0 stars. Piss poor quality frozen and/or boxed food heated and plated. Eggs from a carton, from the looks of it. Bread products of the lowest grade. Hash browns frozen, heated. Bacon low quality. Coffee, low grade. Thanks. 20 bucks down the drain and we immediately felt ill shortly after. And hungry. We had been staying at the casino hotel and didn't know how good we had it!

The kids' fish and chips were a pleasant surprise--made with real rockfish, which you don't always see on a kids' menu, and it was done perfectly. Emma loved her sushi roll, and LaRue's shrimp sliders were packed with flavor and cooked just right. I went with the panko fried prawns along with the Hawaiian pulled pork, and both were absolutely excellent--crispy, fresh, and full of flavor. Even the appetizer set the tone for the meal--it was clear right away that they care about quality. What really stood out, though, was the combination of great food and great service. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience feel easy and enjoyable without being overbearing. Overall, this was one of those meals where everything just clicked--food, service, and atmosphere. We'll definitely be back, and it's an easy recommendation for anyone looking for something a little different with really solid execution.

No big deal though.. we walked around the cute old town and worked up an appetite. The place is small and seating is tight. Our server was super friendly and attentive. My husband ordered the surf (grilled shrimp) and turf (flank steak) with a side salad and mashed potatoes. I had the crab encrusted halibut with basmati rice& edamame and a Cesar salad. We started off with cocktails. Husband had a long island iced tea and I had a Jim Beam Manhattan. Cocktails were average. Manhattan had too much vermouth and the Long Island had a lot of sour... But a lot of time I think that comes down to preference. It took a long time to get our food. It was crowded and our server was clearly doing her best. The food looked good. The server said she was waiting for steak knives, so my husband just used the regular butter knife for his steak. The steak was a little tough and lacked flavor. Would have added salt and pepper to it if there was shakers on the table, but didn't want to ask for them. The fish was nice. I didn't really get "crab encrusted". I'm sure it was there but really it just tasted like breaded and fried halibut. The rice and salad were delicious. Overall everything was good. I wouldn't say excellent. And for the price, I would have expected better. But it wasn't bad. There looks to be a lot of other great restaurants that might have a little nicer atmosphere that we would try before coming here again. Overall, I would skip the steak. (Although the chimichurri one would probably be really good). And stick with their flooffy cocktails. The fish was good. And make reservations

We were hesitant because we only really wanted tea but was told no problem. Tables are a bit close together but a lovely set up. After sitting down we were given menus. Made me feel a bit weird about just ordering tea so we looked at the menu and I decided to try their clam chowder. My daughter got their finger sandwich with the cream cheese and mandarin oranges. I ordered my mom hot chocolate. Service was not the best. I asked how their soup was and was told it had won 1st place one year and 2nd the next. We got our tea and my daughter's tea cup, that they had on the table, was dirty. My mom got her hot chocolate and it was barely warm but I decided since I didn't want her being burned I'd just let her drink it like that. Then we got our sandwich and soup. My daughter said the sandwich was good. I went to try my soup and it was also barely warm, actually cold! Then my daughter noticed we didn't get milk for our tea. We weren't asked if that how we drank it. Our server didn't come back to check on us and I had to flag her down to ask for milk and tell her my soup was cold. She apologized and took my soup. We waited for the milk and instead I think she was microwaving my soup and waiting for it to be ready to bring both the milk and soup back instead of getting the milk to the table ASAP so my daughter can drink her tea. Our server was young and maybe inexperienced because service was definitely lacking. My soup came back scalding hot, hense me thinking she microwaved it. Trying the soup, it was definitely not anything special. I hate giving these reviews. We had such an amazing experience the last time we were there. We spent over $100 on our tea, scones and Items in their store. This time we were sitting there thinking what?? We spent over $60 and was so disappointed. The only reason for a 2 stars was because the tea was good, my daughter liked her finger sandwich and we ended up purchasing some of the tea she tried. We will still come back when visiting and giving their tea area a try again. I'll update my review again at that time.
