We stopped here for breakfast and was very impressed. Well staffed with friendly happy servers. Food was great and the prices appropriate.

This is our 2nd visit to Florence OR, travelling via RV. Thought we'd try our luck here on a Sunday, hubby looking for a good breakfast. Seated right away, staff very friendly and attentive. Place started to fill up afterwards with locals. I opted for a cheeseburger with sweet potato fries. Was a simple burger but very tasty! Fries were excellent, cut from real sweet potatoes. Hubby was totally satisfied with 2 egg breakfast with ham and short stack. Eggs were cooked perfectly, ham was moist and tasty, pancakes were also really delicious! 100% better than breakfast we had at Mill casino restaurant. We're coming back before we head home! I've never experienced slower service with a restaurant that ONLY had two parties. As soon as we walked in, the waitress greeted us and told us to sit wherever we'd like. Once we sat down, it took nearly 20 minutes for us to get our menus, which we had to flag down the waitress and ask for them ourselves. After that we thought it was smooth sailings from there...nope. After receiving our food, she had also forgotten our silverware so we were left sitting there for another 10 minutes, just staring at our food. The server was friendly but hiding in the back until the cook is finished making the food or to just chat is the worst customer service you can present. Will not be coming back here again. read more

Giving a 5 for the food. In our group, we had breakfast and lunch and it was all good. Everyone left happy. Bacon is thick and tasty, salads were fresh, and we loved the omelets. The decor could use some updating!!! There is nothing that grabbed me from the street and the inside made me a little concerned. So glad that we stayed and tried the food it was very good. This is my 2nd time there since they changed owners. First time was a bad meal and poor service. Decided to give them another try 6 months later. Meal was worse than before. Country potatoes were cold and had a burnt rancid taste of old oil that had been used for something else. Link sausage was wrinkled like it had been cooked a long time ago. Each item was served on a different plate. Can you see 2 little wrinkled link sausages in the middle of a plate all by themselves!!! Waitress was gracious when I explained meal was cold and potatoes were not edible. She didn't charge me cause she saw I was right when she saw them on a plate all by themselves. Not a good experience when you wait all week to go out for breakfast on a Sunday morning. The only single star I gave is for the waitress who had to listen to me. No stars for the food! read more

A tale of two sittings! Last week I stopped by and had lunch here. I ordered the cod fish and chips along with an ice tea. From the time we placed our order and the meal came was about 15 minutes. The ice tea came out within 5 minutes of ordering. The fish and chips were some of the best I ever had. Three very large pieces cooked to perfection. The chips (french fries) were also cooked to perfection. My wife and I made another visit a week later. We arrived at 2 PM, we both ordered the cod fish a chips. From the time we placed the order until it arrived it was 40 minutes later. Our waitress brought my ice tea 15 minutes after ordering. When the meal finally arrived the fish was about 1/3 the size of my previous order. The fish was over cooked. My quess is the cook took a 15 minute break at 2 PM. There were not that many other customers in the restaurant. We will probably give it another try and hopefully they can have their constancy sorted out. read more

Great food and friendly service, but my crab cakes had not one, but two hairs in them and they weren't comped. I was not impressed. Most restaurants would comp the whole meal for something like that. Hopefully next time will be a better experience. read more

Great experience ! Super tender, well seasoned chicken fried steaks that were huge. Gravy was awesome, fries just right. Clam chowder was pretty darn good too. Service was excellent with a reasonable wait time for very delicious food. Can't wait to try more items from the menu !! read more

Less than one star. Let me begin by saying I had no intention of patronizing Clawson's Wheelhouse. My intention was to eat at the reasonably-priced, decent quality, friendly-serviced diner that occupied the building prior to Clawson's apparent buyout. To my chagrin, we were already about an hour in to what was ultimately a ridiculously long time before we even saw our waitress, let alone ordered anything, before I realized my mistake. The quaint booths and attentive service were rudely replaced with soulless, restaurant-surplus tables, and stark, nautically-themed shite decór. The attentive service was replaced with one, overwhelmed woman working the restaurant alone at lunch time on a Sunday afternoon. The reasonably-priced menu was replaced by an exorbitantly-priced, crappy menu. On the up-side, when our food finally arrived, we were happy to exclaim, and this is a direct quote, "...at least the food isn't complete crap." Let me sum up by paraphrasing our former President, George W. Bush: Fool me once, Clawson's Wheelhouse, shame on you. Fool me twice; well, you can't get fooled again. Let me end by saying I shall miss the place that was here before Clawson's Wheelhouse, whatever it was called, and to the new owners: good luck with your new venture, but I shan't be back, and I wouldn't recommend your restaurant to anyone that I remotely like. read more

We waited 40 minutes for our lunch in an almost empty restaurant. My chicken was tough, stringy and dry. My husband's hamburger was o.k. but overcooked. Very unacceptable. We not recommend this place. read more

We were greeted and seated promptly. The menu included all the classic breakfasts: omelettes, pancakes, proteins, and warm, fresh biscuits. I had eggs and sausage with hash browns. I came for the hash browns and was not disappointed: they were hot and neither clumpy nor greasy. My wife went with the homemade biscuits which were nice and fluffy. read more

My husband and I ordered fish and chips on the 4th of July, it was the worst mess I had ever seen. It was soaking in grease. When trying to take a bite the uncooked batter fell totally off the freezer burnt fish.. I told the waitress that the fish was terrible and the batter was not cooked greasy and fish was freezer burnt. The waitress shrugged her shoulders and walked off. We got up and went to talk to the manager, but instead the cook came out , I told her about our complaint and ask for the manager she said you have to talk to me. She said I saw you eating on the fish, I said no you didn't . You saw me eat fries, the fish is on the table. Go look! She started yelling at me causing a scene in front of the other six guests.she was trying to show me she was in charge! She was mean and nasty. She said we don't give our food away for free . I ask for the owners phone number she said no.. this has been a very upsetting ordeal. By the way it was my husband and my wedding anniversary.. and we ended up getting diarrhea from the greasy mess served to us . Literally fries dripping in grease. I informed the female cook that I would post negative reviews . Maybe after this they will fire that cook and replace her with someone that can cook and has people skills. I wish there were a negative star, I would give this restaurant five negative stars.. read more

Pretty decent diner type restaurant. Oyster PoBoy was good. BLT was served on toast that had several burned areas. I was surprised the chef would send out a plate with burned toast, and a sad, shriveled pickle spear. Better menu selections than when it was the Kozy Kitchen. I'll give them a few more weeks to get settled in, and try them again. They do Prime Rib every night, so I'm thinking the French dip sandwich should be good depending on the roll they use. read more

I think they're trying but the food here is just not very good. We had lunch. I had the Caesar salad. The lettuce was brown around the edges and the salad had way too much dressing. My husband had a burger that was dry and really pretty boring. The fries were OK. I don't think we will be back. read more

This restaurant has a really nice country feel to it... Which I was expecting nice waitresses but that's the last thing I got. I visited about 2 weeks ago, which apparently was a bad time to come in. The food was okay.. all I had was a burger but it was nearly burnt and the fries must've been a bad batch. The waitress was snotty and seemed like she just left all her dirty tables for the other waitress to clean.. would've thought the other one was just a busser if I didn't see her taking orders. Overall it just looks like bad management. Looks like they should've just stuck to country music, the restuarant business isn't for them. read more

My husband and I have eaten at this resturant two different meals. Dinner was just great, I had a steak and my husband had oysters...He said the oysters just melt in your mouth, and my steak was cooked just the way I like it, and had wonderful taste. Service was very bad. We waited over an hour to get our food. We had to ask for utensils to eat, the waitress never came to check on us about our food or drink refills. We noticed a couple came 10 minutes after we sat down, got their food, paid and left before we even got our own food. My sister in law suggested this place because she said it's under new management. It seems like they don't like tourists coming into their establishment and they delivered their message loud and clear. Rough start to a day on the coast. We stopped in because it looked nice and basic. We went in and got someone's attention then were seated. We waited as new groups came in and received menus. We grabbed our own from behind the counter and continued to wait. They took our drink order so we had hope. Then we waited as they took more orders and let us wait. We had a scheduled activity so I asked for cups for our drinks so we could just leave. The server said yes and began to ring us up. The girl mopping the kitchen who I just watched move floor mats with her bare hands grabs us cups/lids. Then separates them and hands them to my family. I was less than friendly and said something so we paid for drinks that we didn't drink. I can't say how the food is so the third star is benefit of the doubt. read more

Have enjoyed Clawson's up till now. Ordered 'Eggs toast bacon , subbed French fries for the hash browns. Right off the bat food comes on one plate the bacon and toast just thrown on top of the plate. What happened to a separate plate for my toast ? Might as well just tossed it in a blender and serve it all with a straw. I d at least like to see what I am eating . The toast was so damn ! dry with very little "butter " The bacon was extremely over cooked , and had the consistency of beef jerky . and you could actually see the white salt deposits on the backside of each slice from it sitting out for a very long time ! The eggs "over easy " were an over cooked mess with a nice crisp brown edge circling the eggs, The French fries were old stale hard not crisp and came cooked in four different levels. Best fish and chips in Florence if not the Oregon coast Biggest selection of steaks sourced locally from what I heard was Kbar ranch a couple hours from Florence. The prices are extremely fair. OMG. The perfect biscuit. I was born and raised in the South and biscuits are the only thing I miss. The Wheelhouse has it figured out. Fluffy and light and floury delicious. We had the veggie omelette and the meat and cheese omelette. Both of us opted for sliced tomatoes rather than potatoes. The ingredients in both omelettes were fresh and generous. Our latest experience with Clawson's Wheelhouse was terrible! Understandably being a holiday and the end of tourist season in Florence we expected to have a little bit of a wait, however, we waited over an hour after our order was taken, not by a server, but by the buser, who also brought us our watered down drinks. We never saw a server. The buser took care of us all while doing his own job. When we finally received our food, it was soggy and half of what should have been meat in my sandwich was nothing but fat. The buser was the one who brought us our food not the server and when he delivered our food someone who seemed to be the owner or the manager, she didn't introduce herself thanked us for our patience, but made excuses for why the service was so poor. When it came time to pay, the server finally came to our table. She cleared our plates and when I made a comment about my food being soggy, she just ignored me and walked off. She came back for our payment and even though she was just working on our one and only check at the time she took an extraordinarily long time to run our debit card. We paid $40 for terrible food and extremely terrible service. Rating this at a 1 is too good for this restaurant. We should be able to give a zero-star rating. read more
