What a wonderful place! With eight in our party, there were various selections made off the menu. I went with the "Royal Tea." And choose a sausage roll, a Spring mix salad, some of their delicious sandwiches (we all shared) & a desert! The staff were all very friendly & stopped by our table several times checking on us. This place is adorable, exactly what you would expect from a tea shop! The service was a little on the slower side because there was only one waitress for all the tables. I had the clam chowder which was great, and then we shared some high teas with a variety of sandwiches, scones with clotted cream, and petit fours. I loved the salmon sandwich and the turkey and cheese -- simple but delicious. The scones were great as well. Definitely a must try in Florence! read more

UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT Last night we attended a new Grand Opening of Lovejoy's. It was a celebration combined with a fond farewell. Heather has hosted Lovejoy's for years, but is accepting other opportunities and needs to relocate. Lovejoy's hosted a Meet & Greet celebration to introduce Tess as the new owner/operator, a Change of the Guard, so to speak. Tess is a Brit who hails from South Africa. She is keeping the Current theme as well as adding her own spin with a few new recipes and ideas such as a seafood boil night. This celebration was a fun event as the popularity of the business was evidenced by all those who attended. There was a magnificent buffet set out with drinks, meats, cheeses, biscuits and crackers. Tess introduced me to one of her specialties called 'Babootie'. This is a savory South African dish that was a delicious combination of beef, curry, mash and egg. I found it to be a comforting level of warmth from the curry with the richness of a moist ground beef. A light layer of mash combines with egg on top and is a dish that has to be tried. This will also be a filling that will at times be available in a pasty. We wish all the best to Heather and her family as they embark on a new adventure. We also cheer on Tess as we celebrate her contributions and commitments to the business and the customers who frequent Lovejoy's! read more

I've been trying to get a specific tea mailed to me from Lovejoy's for over 2 1/2 months. I originally bought it while visiting in person and wanted to reorder once I got home. During this time, they've answered my calls but never actually sent the tea. I've followed up multiple times with no results. Very disappointing and unprofessional -- I expected better. They should do better. Their ongoing excuse is that they're under new ownership (as of about 4 months ago). While I see many great reviews, when it comes to mailing tea to customers, they completely fail. Most recently, they promised to "get it going" and call me back -- that was over two weeks ago. I've made at least six calls over this period, and not once have I received a return call. If you live out of state and want tea by mail, do not count on them. To make matters worse, I found both Millie and the owner quite rude in my conversations, especially after I grew frustrated at the delays. I even shared that I'm a stage 4 cancer patient and that the tea meant a great deal to me -- still no follow-through or compassion. This was not a small order either (over $100). Just an epic failure in both service and basic human decency. Truly sad. read more

New owner, Tess, opened Lovejoy's for a Prix fixe, multi course, single seating Mother's Day Tea. The Tea was based off their Royal Tea, but with chosen staff favorites. Everyone enjoyed a pot of the Queen (Elizabeth's) favorite tea. This tea is no longer available and it was a treat to try it. Lovejoy's tasty clam chowder is award winning. ( A vegetarian option for soup was available). The sausage rolls were perfection in their seasoning and crisp pastry. We had a selection of 4 tea sandwiches. Some flavors we'd never tried before, because we tend to fall back on my favorites. Each morsel was a delight. The scones were tender and held up to the lemon curd and clotted cream. Petite Four for dessert. I had chocolate. Tess and the staff keep it friendly and make it a personal experience. Tess has more new ideas/ surprises up her sleeve. I do love the tea experience, and I'm open to trying new things. We live an hour away and Lovejoy's is always worth the trip! read more

I used to love this place. My daughter and I went in after church one day and the owner was there looking at tea pots and cups with someone. No hello or welcome in. Walked to the counter to order where another woman was working on making pastries. We were ignored by both of them for at least 5-7 minutes. The gal baking turned around and showed us her dirty hands. No apology or I will be with you in a few minutes. That's when the owner literally started yelling for someone else to come help us. For several minutes. Why couldn't she help us? So unprofessional. We almost left, and probably should have just for the lack of customer service. Won't be back. This was such a fabulous find. I was in a tour with friends from church. We came in with only an hour to eat and the owner made it her mission to get us taken care of. The food is wonderful, all baked fresh every morning and any leftovers given to the homeless each night. I had a delicious pot of black currant tea, tomato bisque soup, a pastie, and a scone made her special way for dessert. Took beautiful macaroons with me on the bus. Told our tour director they need to recommend this beautiful little place to groups that come to Florence. So many different kinds but I got one of their blends, they give you sugar cubes and milk so you can make to your preference. Sandwiches are good, lots of options there. If they offer the pumpkin scone/biscuit.. make sure to chose that one! It's so good. The place has such cute atmosphere, makes you want to sit there all day. My first time visit and didn't know what to expect, but I had a very enjoyable experience. My friend thought we didn't need reservations (which we were nicely informed is a good idea) however we were fortunate to be seated by friendly staff. The decor is what I would call eclectic. Which is really fun, not stuffy. My friend and I both had the High Tea and were delighted with the choices we had. The tea was English Breakfast with cream. My friend had Cream of Asparagus soup and I had the Salad with Lemon Poppyseed dressing (which was a very light). Of the choices of tea sandwiches, I had Curried Chicken and the Cucumber, my friend had Salmon& Dill and the Egg Salad & Watercress. The Vanilla Scone was delicious with clotted cream and a berry preserve. We ended with a delightful Vanilla "Ghost" Petite Four. I like interesting places and I totally recommend Lovejoy's Restaurant and Tea Room, but would advise getting reservations. It's cosy and packed with colorful knickknacks. The staff were very pleasant and attentive which I appreciated. If you plan visiting Florence, I recommend this unique restaurant. read more

I would move to Florence for the weather and for this tea shop alone. I'm in SoCAL and I SO wish I was closer to Lovejoy's. I would visit here weekly if I could. The food is absolutely amazing, my boyfriend is English so I've tried many English faves and Lovejoy's is top notch. The sticky toffee pudding is to die for, better than the sticky toffee pudding I had at Gordon Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen in Vegas! Their potato salad is the BEST potato salad I've never had in my life. I have been craving both since I visited recently. On top of it the tea was amazing, the atmosphere is cute, and the workers are super friendly. The atmosphere and quality of service and food at Lovejoy's is beyond reproach - the new owner and her staff know what "taking tea" means and of what it consists. We were a bit peckish (it was teatime, after all), so my husband and I shared a large pot of black tea and each enjoyed our own scones - his was apricot ginger and mine, the house vanilla. Superb! My only criticism is one of semantics: afternoon tea or low tea, refers to the "low" table found in a lady's parlor is the famous repast the English perfected, while high tea is actually dinner, served at a "high" table. As is often mistaken, the names have nothing to do with class or how fancy the event is and a pinkie in the air is while sipping tea actually is actually bad manners. To take tea (which is a meal as well as a beverage) is to enjoy a cup or pot of hot tea with servings of finger sandwiches, scones with jam and cream and/or small sweets like petit fours, often from a tiered serving tray. Finding it here was a real treat. We've also had their chocolate filled croissants. We have been here for two months with the SIP orders. Heading out next week. We were in Florence OR recently. Saw this restaurant on one of our walks. My wife doesn't care for scones, so I went in and bought a few. The owner told me a story about his scones being the best (he might have said best in the world, don't remember). Don't take my word for how good those scones are, try them yourself. My wife tried one, and ate a few. Bought a pastie (I'm from Michigan, used to get these yummy meat pies in the Upper Peninsula) on my next visit there. Very good. Here is a few suggestion that would make it nicer, ironed table clothes. The tea pots were just to plain,didn't compliment the tea service. We arrived at 10am on a Saturday. Seating overall is limited but we found a table. I recommend making an reservation however. It's very much like a British teahouse in the decor with vintage dishes, tea pots and flowers everywhere... basically super charming. We ordered tea, eggs Benedict, a Scotch egg and a chocolate scone. The scone arrived first and while it was tasty, it was smaller than an average scone and not at all the shape, and texture was not a typical scone. The Eggs Benedict took 45 minutes... yes, 45 minutes. Thebowner was apologetic and very friendly. It was home made sauce and cooked perfectly. The owner informed us they were out of Scotch eggs however. It's worth nothing the Scotch eggs are not deep fried as typical, they are baked but looked large and plentiful on the plate of a guest at another table. What a delightful little tea room and welcome retreat from the traffic on Bay Street...my scone and green tea was very good, but the star was the lemon curd...some of the best I have enjoyed out side of London. A greatin a my favorite river town! ok so for my second visit to this charming tea room a friend and I tried their monthly Indian dinner. And what an authentic 4 course dinner it was; started with my favorite blooming jasmine tea, crackers and 4 sauces, lentil soup, butter chicken, nan and cooling yogurt sauce and chi cake and lime ice cream.
