I should have known from my initial contact with this company that it wouldn't end well. I didn't trust my instincts. Initially, I called Clay's Clippers for a quote to place landscaping stones around my flower beds/tree rings. I asked Clay after our initial conversation to speak to my wife about design. He asked me to have her call him to set up a time to come over. My wife called him that day and he never returned the call. When I asked him why, he emailed me, stating "We spoke and, I thought, she was going to call me when she was close to your house and I would come over? Sorry for the misunderstanding." Completely false, however, I found another company to work with on the stone work. Fast forward to May 17. I sent Clay an e-mail asking, the following: "Clay: In the future, please tell your crews to be a little more careful around our kids' $3,000 wooden playset. This set is 2 months old and already damaged by your crew. I would appreciate it if your team would be respectful of items on my property.". The response was, "I will have a talk with them. I will say in their defense that any wooden structure in any grass is subject to some damage with a weed eater." Guess what.... either he never spoke to his crew or he and the crew just flat-out don't care about their customers' property (which is the more likely scenario). I was still patient and allowed him to keep mowing my lawn, thinking he would remediate the issue. Wrong again. Today, I have cancelled my service with this company and their sarcastic, condescending, unprofessional owner, Clay. I sent Clay an e-mail asking him to call me and I included the picture of my damaged playset, based on his carelessness. He didn't call me, rather, he responded with the following: "What would you like to discuss about the picture? The weed eater line is hitting the wood." The picture clearly showed that the weed eater line was hitting the playset 4-6 inches off of the lawn. Our grass has never been high enough to have their weed eater lines that high off the ground. Additionally, it is obvious that the negligence has been happening for weeks, given the significant damage. Do yourself a favor... AVOID this company. read more

In my opinion this company is a total waste of money and does not conduct business in a professional manner. Hired him to weed beds (yes we have a lot of beds to weed) we paid him $5k to do the job and hired him to do weekly mowing and weeding to keep up with the beds. Didn't do any maintenance weeding for 2 weeks then when I complained that his guys didn't weed all of the beds just some of them and that it was getting out of control he said that he couldn't do the work for what he quoted and wanted to renegotiate a higher rate and/or have me pay again to have his team de weed (another one-time large sum). He negotiated in bad faith. I confronted him and he didn't care. I asked my wife to call him to straighten it out which included having her pay him more for the service if that is what was needed and he refused. He claims I bullied him because I shared some stories of how vendors had screwed me in the past... really!!! He is the one quoting prices incorrectly and incapable of doing the job. The only thing I observed him doing was sitting in his truck the entire day playing on his phone while his team worked their tails off weeding beds. That's his style. He goes in low to get your business and then finds out after two weeks that he can't do the job and wants more money. He stated he couldn't do the beds within 30 to 45 minutes of labor after the fact. I never contracted him for 30 to 45 minutes of labor I contracted him to maintain the beds. In addition, his guys damaged my drip system and now I am left to fix that even though he said they would because that was on them. Save your money, get a quote from a reputable person. Him low balling the quote just kept us from looking elsewhere and now we have to look elsewhere. His business model is to get your business and then spend as little time as he can doing the job. I would not recommend him to anyone. read more

Hired Clays Clippers for two services: one was for landscape redesign of my yard and the second was for the on-going mowing service. My 15 year old yard was desperate for a make over and I really wanted to work with someone local. Clay's had redone the yard across the street from and I really liked how it looked. Christal helped design a new look and kept in touch all the time with planning, design review, suggestions/recommendations, etc. Once the project got underway it was obvious that the team of workers knew their job well and with Clay's supervision had the entire make over completed in just a few days. The price for the full makeover was on-point .. no hidden or surprise charges. Not a penny was charged that was not as agreed to beforehand. As mentioned by others, response to calls/emails is prompt and quick .. no question is off limit. I am very satisfied with their service and look forward to working with them for years to come. Side note -- being able to pay on line is a bonus!! Now I don't have to worry about forgetting to write a check!! We met with many landscape companies when we decided to do a backyard makeover. Not one listened to us or shared our vision and we were getting so discouraged. Then we called Clay's Clippers and met Christal. I wish we had called her first! She listened, gave us expert advice, and she was willing and able to work within our budget. Christal did a fantastic landscaping design that incorporated all of the things that were important to us. She also made sure we got the best value for our money. Clay and his crew did a great job preparing & completing the installation in a timely manner. We were impressed with the relationship between Clay and his crew. He didn't ask them to do anything he wasn't willing to do himself. They don't follow the instructions you give them and they killed off new, established sod that it's now just dirt (again) - exactly where it was prior to their service. I don't think they know anything about grasses or mowing. Hire at your own expense, because my friends had to order sod again since they almost killed off the entire old and new lawn. My friends had to stop service once they returned from being out of state for over 8 months. I just feel bad for my friends because their yard used to look luscious and now looks horrible because it's dirt again from cutting too low and it's sparse so weeds are growing like crazy! Just be aware and have knowledge about your grass if you're hiring them. read more

Initially thought customer service was great up to the install. Mistakes were made and they tried to fix it. Trees they installed died and we were out of luck on those so paid someone else to replace all 3 trees. They honestly looked bad when they brought them and they assured us they were good.
