Don't use this service! We were told that the service guy would wear a face mask while in our house Servicing our radon equipment and sump pump that was installed by accurate radon a few years back. We informed the owner, Rich Whiisler, mitigation professional, That I am a high-risk due to my health situation for COVID-19, and inquired if we could put the service off till later due to this fact. Rich said that could be for two years, and they had all the safety measures in place and the service guy would wear a face mask while in the house to protect himself & us, and would only go into the basement areas that had the sump pump and the radon equipment. That is still walking through our entire basement downstairs, which is our carpeted and finished family room. We were told by Rich NOT to go in the basement while the service guy will be servicing the sump pump and radon equipment and to wait three days to wipe down the sump pump room and the radon equipment that may have been touched. Rich also stated the service guy would be using our bathroom to wash his hands with soap and water. I said I did not want the service guy to use our bathroom to wash his hands but to have him bring hand sanitizer instead. Rich stated it is better that he would use water and soap because it gets rid of the germs easier, but he would have him use hand sanitizer instead. What Rich did NOT share with us Is, that the service guy would be taking his face mask off while in the basement servicing the sump pump and the radon equipment. We have an open basement, with no door to close, which is actually our carpeted and finished family room. While we were upstairs, the service guy was servicing our sump pump area and radon equipment in our Open family room basement. We heard him coughing down in our finished family room basement. It was observed, that the service guy had his face mask pulled down under his chin. We called Rich and requested the check to be returned to us. Also, that he never mentioned to us that the service guy would be allowed to take his mask off once he was in the basement. That was never told to us. If Rich would have told us, that the service guy would be allowed to take his face mask off once he was in our finished family room basement, we would have never allowed this service in our home. This was a breach of trust and honesty and I would not recommend anyone using this service. It has put me at a risk even higher for the COVID-19. read more

Rich was polite and knowledgeable. The radon reduction was very effective, dropped from a 5 to a .7. The aesthetics of the system were sufficient. The reason for 3 stars includes the price being higher than the average, even though he did run more piping, I thought the price was a little steep. Also the fan enclosure is mounted directly to the house siding which results in noticeable humming. read more

I contacted several Radon contractors when an inspection of my mother's house in Naperville revealed high levels of Radon. We needed to sell the house and didn't have a lot of time. Rich at Accurate Radon was recommended by our realtor, and I also talked to a few others. Turns out that Rich lives near an old friend of mine as well. Said friend spoke highly of Rich. Of the four contractors, Rich's system was significantly higher volume and somewhat better built. This was important as the house had a large basement and crawl spaces. We had a week to go before closing, and there really wasn't time for upgrades if testing still showed high levels of radon. Rich was also price competitive. After testing, the house passed easily. Rich with Accurate Radon is reliable, honest and customer friendly. Accurate Radon installed a battery backup sump pump for me about 18 months ago. After all the storms this summer, I had a problem with the battery backup. I called Rich and he was actually able to come out the same day and solve my problem. Rich NEVER stops at the first and easiest answer. He wants to get at the root of the problem and not just put sloppy "patch" jobs in place. He installed several redundancies in our backup system to try and eliminate the possibility of a basement flood. Accurate Radon has excellent customer service and does high quality work. I have recommended Accurate Radon to several neighbors and we are all very pleased with the completed work. Contacted Accurate Radon when I received the result from a hardware store radon test. It was 32, eight times above the acceptable limit. Rich came to the house, when I explained the situation we looked at the basement, sketched out the pipework, it is a complex system as the house has 3 different levels on the ground, a basement, a half in the ground family room and a slab. Rich sketched it out in less than an hour, explained how radon worked and how the system would mitigate the radon. He told me there were contractors who would do it for less, but he promised it would be 1 or less. He and his crew did the job, operation was clean, crew was polite and efficient. When the motor was turned on , the vacuum reading 30 feet away dropped immediately. It has been a year and the results are still 0.4. I feel comfortable exercising in the basement or sitting in my family room, knowing the radon is gone. I highly recommend Accurate Radon. The are professionals. read more

We moved to Illinois from a state where Radon is a very big problem. We wanted our daughter to play in our basement so we decided to test it. Our level came back over the action level of 4. We contacted several companies regarding mitigation. Of the three, Accurate Radon was the only one that set up at appointment to review our home and set up a plan. The other two goggled our home on "Google Map" and gave us a price. Their prices could change if they got to our home and had to make changes. Before Rich of Accurate Radon left our home, we had an estimate for all costs. He knew before starting the job that some extra piping would be required. On installation day, the team arrived promptly and worked diligently. My home was respected and cared for. Throughout the process, Rich kept me informed of the project status. Upon completion of the job, my basement was cleaner than when they got there and they also offered to mop the kitchen floor where they walked during the installation. We were given information on the system and copies of all necessary paperwork. We are happy to say that after a retest our level is well below the action level and our daughter is happily enjoying her new play space. read more
