Another example: There was a very rare (and unexpected) overnight summer rainstorm when the roof was replaced and Jon and crew showed up in the middle of the night to cover their work as needed. A real conscientiousness towards the work. The crew was great, worked very clean and efficiently (they worked hand in hand with a skylight installer). In nearly all cases, our "leaks" were not about the quality of work but a function of anomalies in our roof (both flat "tar and gravel" and "pitched composite" with lots of angles, nooks and crannies) that required careful attention / maintenance on our part and some minor tweaks by Able to address the anomalies. The crew - especially the foreman Francisco - was competent and went about their business in a highly professional way. The workmanship appears to be excellent, and it's backed by the best warranty that GAF (the roofing manufacturer offers). I went with Cooper Roofing even though their bid was 20% higher than others because I wanted to make sure that the work was well done. It's definitely been worth it. I also want to thank Kyle, the owner of the business (and Ken's son who took it over), who provided invaluable help in getting the solar company to pay for the new roof and coordinated with them to ensure the new installation went well. Cooper Roofing isn't the cheapest out there, but the quality is excellent and I don't mind paying a modest premium for high quality work.

I hired ASF Clean Team for gutter cleaning and repairs. The service agreement included cleaning the…read moreentire gutter system and flushing/testing the gutters and downspouts. After the service was completed, I observed debris remaining in multiple sections of the gutter system and took photographs documenting my concerns. Based on what I observed, I did not believe the entire gutter system had been fully cleaned as described in the scope of work. I contacted the company on the day of the service and requested a follow-up visit. Although a return visit was discussed, it ultimately never took place, and my concerns regarding the completeness of the cleaning were never fully addressed. Because of this, I did not feel the work fully matched my expectations for a complete gutter cleaning. To be fair, ASF did perform significant work, including gutter repairs and cleaning in other areas, and the company ultimately worked with me to reach a mutually agreed resolution of the matter. Future customers may wish to inspect the gutters carefully after service and document any concerns promptly.

We received quotes ranging from $1,500 to $4,000 from other roofers and assumed we'd be paying out of pocket. Instead of trying to sell us a repair, Carol suggested we contact Velux directly, as she thought the skylight might still be under warranty. She was absolutely right. Velux confirmed that the skylight is covered and will inspect and repair it under warranty. During the job, I paid an additional $200 in cash requested by the technician on site when he said some additional scope wasn't included in the $1,200 project. Later, the company stated they had no record of that payment and billed me for the full amount. I informed them of the payment and disputed the balance. I asked for documentation and clarification on their accounting, but that was never provided. Communication became focused on collection and lien warnings rather than investigating the payment issue. I was pretty shocked how aggressive they were in their phone calls and emails. I recommend that customers keep detailed records and receipts for any work done with this company.
