I hired So Cal Paver Stones & Landscape for a fairly extensive project that included hardscape,…read moreturf, and landscape work, and invested a significant amount of money in the project. The hardscape portion of the project turned out well, which is why I am not leaving a one-star review. Unfortunately, my experience with the landscaping and warranty support was much more disappointing. Within approximately 30 days of installation, I noticed that several plants were not doing well and I notified the company. The issues continued, and David came out to inspect the landscaping again at the end of July. By that point, temperatures were already very high. During that visit, he told me that the plants were getting TOO MUCH WATER AND I WAS INSTRUCTED TO REDUCE IRRIGATION AND FERTILIZE THE PLANTS, WHICH I DID. Some of the non-succulent plants that were struggling, I was told they looked "burnt" - possibly by a coyote or dog, which according to our cameras, is not the case. Unfortunately, the same plants continued to decline and are now dead or dying. Although the problems were reported during the warranty period, they were never resolved before the warranty expired. After the warranty period ended, I was told that the losses were due to extreme heat and weather conditions and therefore were not covered. As a customer, this made the 90-day plant and irrigation warranty feel of little practical value. If plants begin failing during the warranty period, but the issue is not resolved before the warranty expires, customers should understand that they may still end up responsible for replacing those plants themselves. The final resolution offered was four 1-gallon replacement plants, which I would have to install myself, despite there being additional dead and dying plants. I was also told that providing those three plants would fully satisfy all plant and irrigation warranty obligations. Additionally, a shrub that was supposed to be removed as part of the project is now sending up new shoots through the rock bed in multiple locations, clearly indicating that the root system was not fully removed. When I raised this concern, I was told that I had signed off on the project and had "four months to identify the issue." However, this is not something that would have been visible immediately after installation. The regrowth only became apparent over time as the remaining roots produced new shoots. Rather than acknowledging that the roots were not completely removed, I was effectively blamed for not discovering the problem sooner. While communication was generally responsive, I am disappointed with the way these issues were handled. After investing substantially in this work, I expected plants that were reported as failing during the warranty period to be fully addressed and incomplete removal work to be corrected. My advice to future customers is to get very clear written commitments regarding plant warranties, replacement responsibilities, and how issues reported during the warranty period will be handled if they are not fully resolved before the warranty expires.

We also love that when he came out, he actually had sample grasses for us to pick from on the spot and a booklet of all the paver options, so it was easy to visualize the end result. He also gave me a much better warranty on the work he did than anyone else. The team worked fast and efficiently. And once they started, they finished within a week. And when it was done, they let me keep the excess materials, in case we ever need repairs down the line. Highly recommend!
