He does a $30 mow/edge/blow within the Wooten neighborhood. He's cut my trees for $60 and we have some other small projects coming up. As far as I can tell, everything past the standard mow is at a $20/hour rate, which is fantastic for a local, organic gardener. I've been very happy with the quality of work as well. Evan's team came out and put down sodding in our backyard. It had been pretty torn up by a fairly major improvement project on our back porch. Not only was the sod great quality (it made the rest of the yard look worse than we thought it was), but the guys who laid it took time to stretch every bit to fit our needs as well as carefully and systematically uncover both termite traps and sprinkler heads when they were done. They also cleared the area before laying and cleaned up afterwards. I cannot say enough nice things about their professionalism. They also gave us advice on how and when to water to ensure good root growth. I recommend them highly. PS - yes we ended up ordering more sod to finish the yard. The new stuff made it clear to us that the "ok" areas weren't as ok as we thought. The price was very reasonable. read more

I have had mixed feelings about leaving a review for Evan since he seems like a very nice guy, but my project was not cheap, and I now need to spend nearly as much to have it fixed and done right. I regret choosing to hire them. Perhaps you will have better luck using them for simple yard maintenance as they do seem trustworthy and timely. They built a concrete paver patio and replaced sod in an area of the front yard. Despite taking care of the grass as per recommended by Evan, it died within 10 weeks. I asked multiple times if I need shade specific sod, Evan promised it would be fine. He backed it up by saying the provider guarenteed the sod for a certain amount of time. When I called back to inquire about the warranty, Evan said he does no such thing. Additionally, Evan's proposal included added compost or soil on area to be sodded. This was not done, compost was put only on top. I have since had someone else come out who said that I absolutely need shade sod and that the lack of fresh dirt made it near impossible for the grass to take hold over our rocky soil. I now have to rip up the dead grass and have it done correctly. As for the patio, there are two massive chips in my font entry limestone that were left from their original demo. I have tried to have those replaced or repaired. The prohibitive cost means I now must leave a potted plant in front of the chipped step forever. Additionally, some plants were removed where the patio went and it does not appear that weed block fabric was used or the ground properly evened. Within 10 weeks, my pavers are uneven and full of plant regrowth. The pavers need to now come up, so the ground can be releveled and then I can put the pavers back. Yes these things happen, but for someone who advertises this as a specialty, it should have been done right. read more

Love these guys! Our back yard was a dilapidated mud pit with drainage problems and an inconsistent sun-shade ratio from the tree canopy. Now we have a beautiful combination of zoysia grass and shade-tolerant plant beds. Clean Cut took care of everything...surface preparation, tree-trimming, edge/granite/plant installation, sod-laying, etc. It's a small operation but that's a good thing, as the folks making estimates and producing designs are extensively involved in the day-to-day work. You don't have to worry about inconsistencies or any too-many-cooks-in-the-kitchen scenarios. We never felt they were pushing products or directing us towards business partners. They listened to what we wanted and gave us an honest assessment. We'll definitely be using them again when we tackle the front yard. Highly recommended! read more

I needed a major overhaul of our front yard prior to putting it up for sale. It hadn't had much work done on it for most of the time we've owned the house. The biggest issue with our yard is the large oak tree blocking the sunlight from most of the yard, and the acorns it drops. I had a difficult time finding a company willing to take on my project. I didn't want anything unrealistic. I just needed it to not look scary and put off potential buyers. After many years of drought and lack of sun most of the lawn had died off and some weeds took over. I knew I wanted a xeriscape design, but still I had other landscapers tell me there was nothing they could do for me or my project was too small for them. Many landscapers in Austin seem to be chasing housing developers for larger contracts. With many bad experiences trying to find a landscaper willing to take on my project I wasn't sure I'd find someone who would help me. He kept the appointment he made with me, and I had hope again that there were still some business ethics alive in the industry. I had a design previously done by a family member who is a master gardener, but I hadn't used it due to budget constraints and not knowing where to begin. Evan was able to use it and just modify it to fit the budget. He kept to the schedule he set up. He has excellent communication skills. There was a slight delay due to weather, but he let me know that he would start my project the following day, and he did. I absolutely love the final result! Evan has been helping me get my yard in order since I moved into my house in May of '11. When I first moved in the yard was overgrown in many areas. In a day (and for a very reasonable rate) he had cut everything down I had pointed out and hauled it off. Where to start?! Today I needed to get my lawn mowed and edged, I called a few companies and no answer or they were fully booked for the week! So I gave Evan a call and told him my issue with in 15 minutes he was at my home giving me a quote! Hallelujah! He said he was booked up, but could work me in if his guys could get to my yard today. 2 hours later I get a txt saying they are on their way. Moved the vehicles around to give them space and boom!
