So after what could only have been a 3-day bender in a Taco Bell dumpster, a seagull VIOLENTLY UNLOADED on my freshly-washed car hood and windshield.* Seriously: it looked like a full bowl of pancake batter had been hurled at the front of my car. I was looking for a place near base where I could (sadly) get my car washed again. I pulled in here because it showed up on my Yelp search. That's when I ran into the owner, Marcos. This dude was an American badass on every level! Not only did he immediately assess the damage (see "pancake batter", above), but he grabbed gentle cleaning gear and cleaned up the mess himself. HE DIDN'T REWASH MY CAR: HE JUST CLEANED THAT MESS. I loved that he could tell I'd just washed it, and that he didn't push another wash on me (which he totally could have). As he's cleaning it up, he compliments me on my car and offers advice on how to take care of its finish and paint job. The surgical work he did blended right into the rest of the clean car. Couldn't see a single line. And it's done QUICK. Then, he wouldn't take money for the clean-up! (Did I mention I DID NOT get my car washed here the first time?) Clean Getaway had the best reviews of all the car washes and detailers in a ten-mile radius, and I quickly learned that they are well-earned. A sick passenger made a mess in my backseat, and other detailers wouldn't even try to clean it. When I called Clean Getaway, I got a voice mail box, and didn't leave a message. Three minutes later, the owner/manager, Mark Powers, called me back anyway. He was sympathetic to the situation, and explained to me the worst case scenario and the cost, in time and dollars, which I thought was reasonable. When I got there and he inspected the car, he assured me that it wasn't as bad as he initially thought, and he had seen much worse. He told me a new quote, even lower than the first, and I gave him the go-ahead to get started. When it was done, he made a point of showing me the nooks and crannies that were cleaned, and explained about the remaining dampness in the upholstery. And it smelled good again. I've since done a little more comparison shopping, and it seems that he was very fair to me, especially considering that he worked me in and got done in the same day, and even more so considering that he took on a job that many of his so-called competitors refused. I'm very impressed with the professionalism and competence, and Mark made me feel welcomed and valued. I think I'll be using Mark's services for washing and detailing on a regular basis. I was charged $25 for a car wash that lasted 15 minutes or less. Part of it was my fault as I did not ask how much the wash was before the worker pulled my car in to the garage. I only learned of the price after my car was already washed and the worker requested $25. I was shocked that the price was that high- the worker then offered to bring out the owner. The owner looked stone faced and told me it was $25. He offered to throw in a free interior cleaning. I declined and paid him the full price. Either I got ripped off, or the prices for this place are way too expensive. For exterior car washes I have had them $10 or less. If you come here make sure you ask how much a car wash is before you get one. If the price is still high, go to a different car wash. read more

I was one of two customers when I arrived. When my car was being washed I was the only customer. Even so, when complete I had to ask them to finish the interior as there were multiple dirt marks everywhere. I even had to touch it up when I returned home. For $30 I do not expect to have them work and extra 10 minutes after they said it was done and paid for. Will never return. read more

The other day I had an appointment at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital. It was a beautiful day. I had been cooped up in the house for a couple of months because of the covid-19. I decided after my appointment, in order to cheer up a little bit, to go and get my car washed. So I googled and came up with Clean Getaway. I called and once I determined they were open, I decided to bring my car over. I asked the gentleman who greeted me if he could just do a quick wash and he said sure! As I was waiting I noticed a group of three restored vintage Pickups on the side and promptly asked who they belonged to. I was told they belonged to the owner. I then glanced over towards my car which was being hand cleaned superbly well and noticed a different gentleman than the one who had greeted me. He was a very fit middle aged man. I Introduced myself and asked him about the pick ups. We started chatting and I soon came to realize he was the owner. I wanted to write a review about him because he was very kind and funny and he also appreciated the good condition my 4Runner was in. It was obvious to me he has a passion for his work and for cars in general. When you've been running a business for as long as he has you can sometimes forget where you came from but not this guy!!!! I concur with Foxy Mermaid B. When I got my jeep back it had almost as much dog hair in the back as it did when I gave it to them (they made a piss-poor effort to vacuum the back) I know dog hair is a b* but this was pathetic, I came home and did a better job with my house vacuum. Secondly, my back seat was folded up and they made no attempt to let it down and vacuum behind the front seats. Thirdly, $25 is a bit pricey for a wash but when I do pay $25, I EXPECT SOME DAMN TIRESHINE! They made no attempt to clean my cupholders and gear shift console so I made no attempt to place a tip in the box.
