Cleaning California Carpets did a horrible job of cleaning my carpets. The "family owned business" out of Castaic sent someone from the San Fernando Valley up to clean my carpets. The technician immediately quoted a price nearly twice that of the original over the phone estimate. He had multiple products that he wanted to spray in high traffic areas and basically made it seem that without the additional treatments, he couldn't guarantee the dirt would come out. He talked incessantly during the service! He complained about former clients trying to talk him down in price, rambled about the "horrible jobs" he has completed, and called me upstairs every few minutes to "check on his work" and show me how nice the carpet looked. Well everyone knows it looks nice when it's "just groomed" and wet. The proof is how the job looks after its' done.
A few days after the job was completed, I saw areas that still appeared dirty, so I took my own personal hoover and cleaned a spot approximately 3' X 3' on top of the staircase. (We don't even wear shoes on our carpet.) Well, the amount of dirt that was sucked out of the carpet was unbelievable! One person to whom I showed a picture said it looked like "mud water". Being a full time working mother with two children, I didn't react right away. I had to take the day off from work, and on top it, I was charged $411 for 3 bedroom, a staircase (which also looked dirty after the job dried), and a play area. So my mistake for waiting over the 30 days to call! When I did call, the receptionist said I waited too long to complain and the most she could do was give me 15% off my next service. Ha! I told her I was not interested in their services any more! As the conversation continued, it became more heated. I was talked over and reprimanded for not calling sooner. In short, she was rude. I told her I was considering posting the photo with my review/post. She replied, "Well, I guess if people like 'me' want to ruin a small family run business, I guess that's what 'I'd have to do'!" Well, I myself happen to be a small business owner too. I have no desire to "destroy" small family businesses. I do however, expect that when I pay good money for a job to be completed, I'm more interested in getting the service I paid for! If I provided a poor service to my clients, I'd do everything within my power to correct it. That's why my small business thrives.
So, this has been my experience. I am going to try to post the photo, but I'm not super familiar with posting on yelp, and I haven't figured out how to attach a photo! I'm going to keep trying. In the meantime. you may want to consider another company when looking for a quality carpet cleaning! Small family-owned business or not, I am not interested in throwing my hard earned money away and remaining quiet when a company performs such a lousy service. read more
