***READ CAREFULLY : OWNER FRAUD AND THEFT***…read more I hate to write something like this, but ethically I feel those choosing this store need to be made aware of where they are spending their time and money. I attended the Tame Impala Deadbeat listening party. At this event it was advertised that there would be a contest to win one of two signed test pressing of the record. During the listening portion of the event, I saw Jody walk over to a young man with his mother sitting near me and ask him to go outside. Through the window I saw Jody ask him to take out his raffle ticket and show her the number. Which he did. At this point I became very suspicious about what was going on. Why would the employee ask a customer for their thicket number to a raffle outside away from everyone? You can see in my text message to a friend of my concern for what I saw between Jody and man in green shirt outside looking at ticket stub . Upon the conclusion of the listening party they gathered up everyone to pull names out of a bucket to see the winning raffle ticket. **WATCH VIDEO** With my concern, I decided to video record Jody pulling the raffle ticket to make sure everything was legitimate. YOU CAN SEE CLEARLY IN THE VIDEO JODY PALMING THE WINNING TICKET. The young man in the green shirt won the record and quickly left the store before everyone else. Jody instantly stepped outside saying her car windows were down and she had to close them. I went outside and asked the young man and his mother why they rigged the raffle. The mother was adamant she and her son knew nothing about it and it didn't happen. To which I showed them the video and the mother replied she was not aware that happened. The young man simply stated he didn't know why she asked him for his ticket number outside. I then confronted Jody as she walked back into the store. She denied it happened. I made it very clear that I had video proof she committed fraud. She simply told me "okay. That's all I'm willing to say." I asked again for her to just please be honest as it was unfair to the dozen other people that gave up their time to attend this event thinking it was a fair contest. Jody looked at me and stated, "Yes, I did it." All I can say to anyone looking to shop here... if you value honest quality business I would think twice. What Jody did is fraud and subject to theft. With the value of this record being close to $2,000 to rig a raffle is criminal and she should be reported to the police. I'm sorry I have to write this...

This is a very lovely location, but moi prefers the "Book Nook" intimate location in Tyrone square. It's very small but it's also never crowded. I don't live super close, but I try to check on it when I'm around. Someone mentioned several copies of the same record in different parts of the store and different prices. I have noticed that, too, but that is common of many record stores. The new copies will be the same price, but used copies will have different prices depending on the condition. I think the problem might be that the New, Used, and genre sections are not labelled clearly enough and there are many different sections. The first time I actually was able to get in, the store was open and music was playing, but there was no one manning the store. If there was someone there, I didn't see them in the 30 minutes or so I was browsing. I ended up leaving empty handed. They do have a decent collection of records, though. Last time, I was able to find something I had been looking for for years. I'll go back. Hopefully it's open when I do.

Anywho, once he left she played "music" thru her phone which apparently was a hot commodity as it beeped and interrupted the "music" every 30-45 seconds. There were a few albums we wanted to find and suspected they possibly had but could not. We gave up as we were left alone as the young adult was in the back room doing whatever. I suspect if the older gentleman was still on the clock, he would have assisted us best he could. Needless to say, we tried a newer vinyl store in Dunedin- greeted immediately and ended up walking out almost hours later, spending way more than planned.

He determined it was just that part that I needed and advised I could get it online for much cheaper than it would cost to have a repair shop fix it and even went so far as to provide me with the part number and told me how to do it once I received the part. He was also in the process of closing but helped me anyway. He went over and above what anyone would do in this scenario. It's a little late posting this because I forgot to do it when I left the store, but I hope he sees this and remembers who I am.
