first time trying the sandwiches from clem's. i got the san diegan and sledgehammer to share with my partner, my kids got a blt and imported ham sandwich, respectively. they were all fantastic! they were SO loaded. they also gave us an entire container of pickles that absolutely made my night! we will definitely be back.

BEST SANDOS IN SAN DIEGO! I ask for substitutions and they always make a recommendation on how to order based on what you want. Their sandwiches are excellent and the store is super organized and clean. I don't live close, but stop in when I'm in the area. My fave is The Charger.

I've lived in Kensington for 24 years. Clem's (and their associated Tap Room) is a neighborhood treasure. They are family owned and operated and are the nicest people. Sandwiches at the deli are awesome. They have a great selection of made-to-order sandwiches as well as some freshly premade items if you are in a hurry. Usually, because the sandwiches are so large, I'll split one with a friend or save the other half for later. (You can order items and bring them to the Tap Room in the back if you'd like to eat at the bar.). They also have an excellent selection of beers, wines and other beverages. Paul is super helpful and can also do special orders if you need an item they don't have. Very recently, I had a craving for root beer. I had no idea of the selection of root beers and other non-alcoholic beverages they also offer. Cream sodas, cherry colas, ginger beer, grape soda etc. Amazing. Definitely do not pass up Clem's if you are looking for a good sandwich. Take a break and eat at the Tap Room and enjoy a beer or two on their covered patio.

TL;DR: They make a good sandwich to order. Not taking away anything from the service and freshness, but you can probably make the same sando at home for less Stopped by during off-hours and were quickly helped by the staff - we ordered the San Diegan and the Charger and both were good Having said that, I'm pretty sure these sandos can be made at home for much less. I appreciate a good sandwich as much as the next person but these sandwiches really don't bring anything new to the table. Normally, homemade is a good thing but for sandwiches, it's just a little too basic

I had to retrain myself from starting, so I could take this photo!

After getting such an amazing sandwich that was literally two meals! I just had to write another review. I've been here a zillion times and this family; Wally, Paul and Anthony [sorry, I don't know the Mother's name] are all consistent in friendly customer service. I ordered a chicken breast and mortadella on sourdough with provolone. Mayo only, lettuce, tomato and onion. Here's a pro-tip: if you want to elevate your sandwich salt and pepper the tomato layer, trust me, your welcome. Wow, lettuce leaves!! Not the shredded garbage from a bag that spills everywhere that every other deli only offers. Not at Clem's! they use lettuce leaves!! What a fresh tasting difference. The sourdough bread is nice and sour. Honestly, it is like eating a salad and good quality meats all rolled into one. [maybe that's why the sandwich is such a popular and convenient food. Thank you again Clem's I'll be back ; ]

Always come to clems for my sandwiches. The ladies there who make the sandwiches are super friendly and nice, so are the men who run the cash register. Their sandwiches and subs are delicious and worth it. They are filled with the ingredients. My favorites there are the BLT with provolone cheese, the San diegan is really good too! The prices are worth it too because they really fill your sandwiches up and are not greedy! Love Clems. Come here every week because is next to my work!

Items such as scrupulously prepared meatballs, fried polenta, spaghetti with mushroom sauce, etc., from the prior next-door, connected purveyor "Soda and Swine"...but those days are done ...I digress. And where is Soda and Swine's Yelp page? I know I did a review, but now the page appears gone completely in search? Nah, it's just hidden, presumably to accommodate Fortunate Sons, which opened about a year ago after re-construction of both establishments. I'm too lazy to see if still owned by Consortium Group. I did search my reviews and found my updated Soda & Swine review dated 8 & 10 years ago. O_o !! Now, food is still served, however, there's a new name in town called "Fortunate Son" (next door, connected). Apparently, food now served is Asian-inspired. I've not visited recently to taste. The North Park area is a great neighborhood with many different types of food close by. While you're there, don't forget to stop by "An's Dry Cleaners", where the most inventive gelato's, ice creams and sorbets come from.

But we came back on a warm July tonight and had an amazing time. 1. Even though the city is hot: their patio was breezy! I almost wished I had a jacket. 2. Nino was a super server, extremely nice and also funny. 3. Pistacchioso is back! YUM. They're using a different pasta noodle than when I had it last year, but it's the same delicious taste. 4. Sweetie got the chicken parm, which he said was excellent - but also, the portions are too big here! (yes, it makes us tempted to overeat - but we need to stop ourselves & take the rest home!) 5. Comp bread and pasta sauce is still good 6. Because their patio is so breezy, I decided even to get the soup of the day, which was tomato basil (with cream). It was very tasty. 7. Sweetie got a salad with spring mix, walnuts, grapes, pears and blue cheese. I had some walnuts and they were yummy. Only mild disappointment: the hugo spritz, which is my go-to when nothing else is tempting me, was a little watery. It still tasted like a hugo spritz, it still got me buzzed, but the flavor was extremely muted (that's the only way I can describe it). So I'd love for them to tweak the proportions in the recipe. But I still liked it and it was nice to have instead of the Amore cocktail (which is delicious, but gone after 4 sips, instead of the spritz, which I could sip on all meal). Anyway, super time. And we'll be back!
