Under new Management, love the atmosphere. I ordered cod and it was the largest piece of fish I have ever had at any restaurant. My husband got the fish tacos and normally you are getting some little bits of fish on in a taco, more filler than fish. Not here, I summarize it as get a large piece of fish with the taco shell looking like a mini tortilla. Quite possibly the best fish and chips I've ever had! Tried this place for the first time and literally went back the next day because it was THAT GOOD! I had the cod (twice) and also tried both soups. My husband had the haddock and my brother had the shrimp and fish combo basket. Everything was literal perfection! Spot in with the family on a Friday evening. It was packed but we were lucky to grab one of the few open tables left. You walk in and immediately are blasted with the smell of fried food (which I don't mind, but others might). The service was great; highly attentive and they seemed to work well as a team. I was disappointed with the mahi mahi tacos $15.99. They were dry and looked thrown together with barely anything on them; only a tortilla with a small piece of romaine lettuce and the fish. I was expecting them to be a little more filled and flavorful. The family enjoyed their portion of fried shrimp and cod. Prices for the platters were reasonable. They made sure to load everyone up on fries as well. We ordered the fried pineapple for dessert which was also a let down; soggy and not worth it. My first time. I ordered the Cod & Chips @$13.99. Service was lightning FAST! My food came out before I could blink. Yay! 2 red-brick-sized Cod fillets. Crunchy crispy outside yet white flaky tender inside. Piping hot, too. Nice flavor for the batter and the fish. The Chips are the real deal, too. Steaming hot as well. You can get tartar sauce and/or malt vinegar. I asked for both. The malt vinegar was in a pouring dispenser, all you want. The tartar sauce was one small take-out cup, no thicker than a deck of cards. I went through that pretty quick, before I finished my first fillet. I asked for another tartar sauce. No problem. However! I was really surprised to see a 25-cent charge for that 'extra' tartar sauce when I got my bill! Yeah, a quarter isn't a lot. But when you're serving very generous sized portions like those fillets, how about giving out plenty of tartar sauce, too? That's a whole lotta fish and a scrimpy sauce...just being honest here. My other 'objection' was the prices of the SOUPS. I WAS going to get a bowl of either the Lobster Bisque or the Clam Chowder, but not at $9.49 & $8.49 respectively!!! Sorry. (I don't even pay that much at finer-dining restaurants). On my next trip through Clermont, I'm going to try the mushy peas and a few other British classics. Thas ryte that is! read more

We ate at the Clermont Fish House last Saturday, on W. Colonial/50 West near the Clermont historic district. Haven't been there in ages. We were extremely impressed with the dining room, our server, I think her name was Amanda was fun and helpful. The menu options were very good. I had Shepherd's Pie with steak fries, just right. My husband had the cod sandwich with fries. A nice piece of fried fish, all fried just right. They have a nice beer selection and my favorite Magners hard apple cider. For dessert we had fried battered pineapple rings and hubby had something with bananas and chocolate. The food was great! If you haven't been there before, check it out. I've been wanting to try this place out for a while and didn't want to make the drive out to Clermont, but glad I did. Cute little place with plenty of seatings. Menu was pretty straight forward and knew what I wanted. I ordered the cod and chips which came with hush puppies as well. The cods were huge! Nicely fried and tasted well. It's better than most places. the batter will fall off from the fish, but this was still attach! Of course I asked for tartar sauce for dipping. I did get to try the meat pie. First time trying it and it was great with the gravy sauce. Crispy baked pie crust was light. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. She even made recommendations about which dessert to get. Excellent stop for dinner! This place gets crowded with locals - but the wait went pretty quick. Helps that you can walk up to the bar in the back and order drinks! Food was fresh and hot, fish was cooked to perfection. Clam chowder was the best I've had since moving down here. All the staff was super friendly and welcoming. We had Ashley as our main server and she was awesome!! Super super friendly, good at recommending things and kept all drinks filled. We can't wait to come back!! This place is Quality Fish n Chips. If you're in the mood they've got the remedy. The plates were plentiful with a good large portion of fish. Batter was good and not overly thick! This was my favorite fish and chips place when I used to work down in Clermont. It is a family own establishment and not a franchise so most of the time the quality is there to maintain business. I usually order COD fish and the serving is HUGE! Its a large filet with french fries and they served house made tar tar sauce from what I remember. Servers here are young adults and I think the cook may be one of the owners. They look like they are from UK because of the accent giveaway. The fish is delicious so crispy thin batter and moist tender filet of fish. The fish is super hot so be careful biting onto it! The batter is beer batter it seem like but not too heavy. The fries are not fresh its frozen i believed but the quality of the fish is excellent. You only get 1 large filet per order. I can tell they get regulars here as diners so that's a good sign. If i am in the area I will def come back again. Support the locals! read more

What's not to like about the Clermont Fish House? Great tasting food, top notch service and colorful decor makes this British eatery a must for any foodie. My husband and I stopped by for lunch yesterday. We started with the "Crabby Paddys" which were two decent sized, crispy crab cakes which were pretty generous with the crab meat. My husband had the haddock and I had the flounder. Both were well prepared and delicious. The chips (fries) that came with our meals were perfectly cooked- not greasy at all. I wish really surprised by the generosity of the staff, the really funky exterior, the super sporty & fun interior, and the diversity of the menu! As someone with a lot of food allergies, this place had various options for gluten free people (best for gluten sensitive not celiac), vegetarian, dairy free, chicken free, fish free, beef free, etc.! If you eat all the things then I think you'd really love this. I hear the fried sausages are awesome and the egg. If you want a mean cocktail sauce, their fresh sauce had my brain tingly with that INTENSE horseradish! I ordered the haddock fish n chips, hubby got the sausage n chips, and we shared the Scotch egg. Everything arrived super fast--like faster than any fast food joint, and it was piping hot. The fries (chips) were perfectly crispy and the fish had just the right amount of breading for that crunchy bite. We both had a Guinness to celebrate our non-dietness and they were a great addition to our meal. We ordered the beef pie and chips to go for dinner later, but we were disappointed when there were no chips with the pie--thus I'm removing a star. I will say I'm happy I found a decent fish n chips joint somewhat close to us. I prefer it over Gordon Ramsey's overpriced counter service spot at the Eye. They kindly cured my craving for a sandwich. They made it on a Kaiser roll (MY choice between 3, I can't remember the other 2) asked if I wanted the vegetables on or off, I nervously answered "off." They served it on a separate plate, but I put it together when going to eat it. I'm a sucker for horseradish. Why, I couldn't tell you. However, don't knock it til you try it. With this, it's FABULOUS. A CONTROLLED AMOUNT that is, horseradish has a STRONG kick. But it's totally worth it. I got suckered into a dessert post-meal. It quickly spiraled to a lunch, dinner AND DESSERT. I'm unable to turn it down - I ordered us the Apple Crumble, I agreed to add the custard for a little extra. The slight up charge is WORTH IT - It's a soft, yet crunchy, sweet, but not TOO sweet, dessert. In Clermont today with an hour to kill so decided to head for a bite at the best chippy in FL... Clermont Fish House! Now granted we seldom ever get to Clermont and when we do, it's not often to this side of town so imagine our surprise when we saw the Clermont Fish House has expanded to take up the entire building! When asked how long since they expanded we were told... TWO YEARS! Good grief. How did that much time pass? Guess we're slipping on the old mindfulness business. Back to the review, there is now a large seating area, a bar, and still the trusty ol' takeout at the entrance. It's decorated in true British style including the footy shirts lining the walls. The staff is also fabulously efficient, attentive and friendly. Fish and chips are still of the first order but the showstopper (as always) were the mushy peas. We are leaving happy, full and vowing to be back in a much more suitable timeframe. I was full even before my sandwich. I would have liked real remoulade but I have horseradish and whatnot to season it up. My wife said it was delicious on the cod. The prices have gone way up is the only negative; what was 60 for two went to 200 just adding two kids. Can't beat good eats though while supporting local business. My daughter said delicioiso! The fish was smaller than the last time we went.it was a great meal that I couldn't finish. Glad to be there again. I wanted to play darts for beer but I didn't want to disturb other guests. Super neat atmosphere. My family and I enjoy visiting London, so this was a refreshing breakaway from traditional restaurants. Friendly staff and food was prepared fairly quickly. One star was removed for the lack of seasoning of our fish/batter and the need to read the boards for additional menu options. We didn't realize there were specials or other things to choose from until we ordered and we would likely chosen something from there too.
