This is the real deal!!!!! I have travelled to the UK quite a bit for work, and usually always eat fish and chips when I'm there. This was better than any fish and chips I had there. The batter is light and really really crunchy ( but not in an over cooked way). Just super fresh tasting. The tartar sauce was homemade tasting. Really excellent. Friendly service. Come here with a healthy appetite as the fish and chips meal comes with two large filets, lots of fries and even two hush puppies. The food is fried to perfection and delicious. The onion rings are much better than the fries so would recommend having those with the fish plate instead of fries if you can. If you stop by on a Friday night you may also need to bring your patience as we did. We had to wait for a table first and rushed in our order as soon as the server stopped by the table as we were famished. We visit this family owned restaurant regularly and I have to say that the meals are always delicious and served hot. Service is friendly, attentive and they are customer focused. Try the haddock and chips. Fish sandwich is pretty good too. It can get busy on the weekends so arrive early. Save room for the bread pudding if you can it's worth it. read more

Had a hankering for fried seafood and decided to try Clermont Fish House for a late lunch. Arrived at 2 on a Friday and had a pick of tables and high tops to sit at. Dining partner had Cod and chips and I chose Haddock and chips but substituted coleslaw for fries. We both ordered sweet tea. Food came out in quick order and both came with 2 hush puppies. Cardboard box was small and flimsy, making it hard to cut fish with plastic utensils (would prefer a firmer base to push against. Hush puppies were a tad small, but happily they were not too dense or dry. The haddock and cod pieces were evenly coated and fried to nice golden color. The chips, aka French fries were thick and potato-ey. Wish they were cooked longer to make them crispier. The coleslaw was sweet and wet, however I was disappointed in portion size (4oz container, 1/2 of which as liquid) Wait staff was attentive and pleasant. Service was good. Wish Yelp did 1/2 stars as I'd give a 1/2 higher. My reason for only 3 stars is portion size of coleslaw as a substitute for fries and drink prices. 2 fish & chips and 2 sweet teas for $40. Until we ran across this place. Owner's and staff could not be any better. Welcoming me each time I visit and with a good memory as they call me by name. Finally found what we've been craving since we left NY. Battered fried Cod, and other fresh fish dishes. Along with fries and some malt vinegar! We were back home! Haven't had a bad meal yet. This is a casual fish/pub. The service was excellent (family owned) & very pleasant. My hubby had the cod & chips & loved them. I'm not a fish lover so I was very pleased with the land lover offerings. I enjoyed my chicken tenders & steak fries (steak fries seem hard to get in this area). The hush puppies are so delicious! We love everything UK (been to England several times & last year, Dublin) so love the surrounding English vibe. Ironically it was Saturday so college football was on instead of soccer, which pleased hubby. Discovered they don't have a hard liquor license so I couldn't get my much beloved Jamison. However, they offer a discount during happy hour on Lakeridge wines so I was quite pleased with that! Next time I want to try the sticky toffee pudding (have never had it). There's a GB traditional phone box outside that is used for a lending library - what a wonderful idea. My friend has been coming here for years, even before they expanded their storefront. On a whim, decided to check out this place for lunch today. My husband and I are suckers for some good fried fish and found ourselves in the area at lunch time. We pulled in around noon, parking lot full - always a good sign. We thought it was going to be a little hole in the wall dive where you order at the counter and eat n' run, but it turned out to be a nice and spacious sit down place with games, a bar, and soccer on the telly. A proper British joint, if you will (coming from someone who's never been to the UK, of course.) There was a wait in the dining room so we helped ourselves to a high top in the bar area, self seating. We waited for a whiiiiile before anyone came and said hi, and when they finally did, it was a "be right back." The bartender saw we had been waiting for a while, came over and took our order. Long story short, they messed up our order in playing telephone amongst servers but we finally got our food and it saved the day! We split the cod and chips and corn nuggets, all of which were phenomenal. Flaky, hot cod in a delicious light batter, with perfect corn nuggets and a few expertly spiced hush puppies with seriously good tartar sauce. Yummy wedge fries and all was fried in super clean oil. So this place is a gem in Clermont! It used to be part of a gas station, but I'm excited to see they have recently expanded. I'm telling you, some of the best eateries start as a shared gas station/restaurant... I could go on ... Any way, this place is conveniently located off of 50 with a small parking lot. If you're in the mood for fish and chips, look no more! They have several different types of fish to choose from, which they keep freshly frozen in freezers until you order. To my husband's disgust (and my utmost delight!) they have mushy peas as a side. I know, it sounds weird, but I love peas and mushy food, so you know, it was great. Yeah ... it's super British. Of course they have fries for your traditional fish and chips. They have additional sides as well ... I keep trying to think of when we can go back so I can try them all! And get more of those mushy peas We went with the cod for the fish. DELICIOUS! It was just the right amount of batter and the perfect temperature. The chips are chunky, crisp on the outside, fluffy and tender on the inside, hush puppies are so good and the Cole slaw is the perfect mixture of sweet savory and creamy. WOW! I am so happy my fantastic wife agreed to stop at Clermont Fish House after driving our daughter out to see a friend in town. It's an hour drive each way, so she was skeptical as to whether I'd have a great meal after getting my order to-go (she ate her's in the car.) I got the Haddock and Chips; and, as soon as she got home, I popped them into a prewarmed 325-degree oven, on a foil lined cookie sheet for ten minutes. The fish, chips, and hushpuppies turned out great! The fish was crispy on the outside, tender and flakey on the inside; and, same with the fries and hushpuppies. My wife would normally avoid hushpuppies; but, these are something else. She loved them as much as I did. I read some reviews on this place and when we were in Clermont for an errand, we arranged to meet a friend for lunch there. Unfortunately there was no seating. A few stools were taken up by customers waiting for takeout orders and that was it. It appears to be a takeout restaurant only. To complicate matters, what used to be some kind of a store next door is becoming a gas station (or else a former gas station is losing its pumps). Either way, one entrance is blocked and more than half the parking spaces in the already small parking lot are gone, and this at a very busy intersection that is already tough to get in and out of. I am afraid I can't speak for the food quality, as it was way too hot to eat outside, so we went to lunch at another place that our friend recommended. read more
