What a horrible management company. The communication is nonexistent. They forget to give you 24 hours notice most of the time and then when they say they will show up they don't and do not let you know so you take the day off and stay home and they never show. They never come out to clean out the gutters with all the leaves or hire anyone to trim the trees around the property. They just don't take care of business at all. It's like pulling teeth to get them to do anything. I made the mistake and gave them permission to access my place without me being home and they let my cat out my back patio! Another time they forgot to even lock up my place! The other neighbors had more problems than I did. I felt really bad for them. They always had so many issues with appliances, etc., etc. and never got them taken care of and if they did, it took months. The new management company are absolutely fabulous! DO NOT rent at any Clint Lukens properties. We were staying at their Edgecliffe property and had an extremely abusive neighbor who stole my mail and threw it out, came to our door pounding and screaming in our face calling us f*ggots, and continually acted as if she owned the building simply because she was a "long term resident." This "long term resident" had two demon dogs that she would let thrash and scream and bark with her front door open whenever anyone walked by--and everyone had to walk by her door because she lived next to the stairs. She would let her dogs cry and scream for hours starting from 6am. And Edgecliffe's building walls/floors are paperthin so *everyone* could hear these dogs. Polite requests to either keep her dogs restrained or otherwise occupied began this campaign of intimidation. Ariana from management ignored Clint Lukens' legal liability and responsibility to address tenant violence and discrimination (homophobia). Every single one of our emails and complaints went unanswered about this tenant as we continued to fear for our safety. Our registered mail demanding action went undelivered. Was it cowardice or because they were friends with this "long term resident"? Probably both, I guess we'll never know because we were forced to move during the middle of a pandemic because of this psycho resident and negligent property management company. I have receipts on everything I've said above and could provide them. Edit: They also ignored us when we continually reported that our toilet was basically coming out from the floor because it became unsecured. Email after email, no response. We finally had to track down the owner of the property and tell her to her face that Clint Lukens was NEGLIGENT in their management duties and finally they sent repairmen. When the guys showed up, they said "Wow this toilet has been leaking into the foundation for months. The wood is all rotted and we have to replace it all." Not only was this extremely hazardous for us (the whole bathroom could've collapsed and we weren't on the first floor) but it's actively damaging the property owner's property! Wonderful management from CL. PS. They also have a clause in their rental contract saying they'll penalize you $750, then **$3500** for writing a negative review about them online! Neglectful and unresponsive property management. I've been living in a Clint Lukens managed property for almost a year and am very dissatisfied with their service. The parking spot assigned to us is in a dark alleyway behind the house and so several months ago we asked that they install lights and a camera for security purposes. Instead, they put up a "Smile you're on camera" sign with no actual camera. Lo and behold, last month my car was broken into and the catalytic converter was stolen. The damages totaled over $1500 and i was lucky to still have my car. After the incident, i asked that Clint Lukens install bright motion sensor flood lights and a camera. It took them 3 weeks to do anything and ended up installing the weakest lights imaginable that surely wont prevent the next break in. See attached photo. I wasn't sure what to expect when my landlord changed to a new property management company. I had a faulty smoke alarm where the recently replaced batteries would VERY loudly chirp at 3 o'clock in the morning waking up myself and the upstairs neighbor. I filed a service repair request and the next day a local handyman came out and replaced it in less than 10 minutes. A week later the end cap on the hinge of my toilet seat broke and the next day it was fixed in a matter of 10 minutes again. Needless to say I've had a very positive experience. We loved this apartment, our first place in LA, and had a great experience with Joel Nass. He helped our move in be very smooth, and when we had to leave before the end of our lease term he helped us quickly find a new tenant to takeover the lease, avoiding having to pay any rent beyond the time we actually lived there. They are horrible. Do not rent from them. They illegally rented a garage unit underneath our apt a music/leather studio moved in. We later find out that the power is connected causing our power bill to double. They have done nothing to fix this issue we had to call the city inspector we have a broken fence we've been trying to get them to fix for 6 months. The deck is falling apart we sent maintenance requests many times only to be ignored. Then when it was fixed a nail ended up In our tire which they won't pay for new tires. Our dish washer is broken for 3 weeks now and we have no security screen door after they removed it and won't put it back on. They are slum lords rent at your own risk get use to calling the city cause Ariana and crystal will don't do their job. Know your renters rights. read more

I've been renting from Clint Lukens Reality for about a year now in the much desired area of Silver Lake. Like many would expect, you pay for the beautiful skies, great neighbors and locations. I really didn't look into too much of the location when I first rented but in general haven't had many issues in all the places i've rented from the OC area to the LA area. I'm pretty easy going about it. When I first moved into the house, I made note of a few things which Eric and Cristal were very prompt on addressing for me. The apartment was clean, renovated and the neighbors were exactly what I expected which was a pleasant surprise from the last place I stayed out in Silver Lake. When I first moved in, my roommate actually locked himself out where we had to call Cristal to have it opened for us. She was really good about it and its not exactly how we wanted to start the first week of our stay here. haha Overall, great experience and would recommend them. I'm currently looking to move out and buy a place finally where I'm working with Daisy on it right now. The funny thing is, I keep getting messages from people who have rented the same unit and found to their dismay that it is... infested with cockroaches. A slumlord may be able to fool a health inspector -- cockroaches tend to come out at night -- but can they fool they good people of Yelp? Ariana is our building rep ever since Clink Lukens took over management of our building, which had previously been managed by the actual owner... since the beginning of time. She has been very quick in email response to our requests, and one time I got locked out, and went over to their office to borrow a key without issue (I showed the proper identification and proof, etc.). I know this company is powerful in that it owns what seems like 1/2 the rental properties on the eastside, so I don't know what it is like from the owner end; my best friend owns a building that she had them manage for a while, so I don't know if she felt the fees were worth it or not. I stayed at the Willoughby property for about two years (2 different units). All in all, I enjoyed my time there. My neighbors were all super friendly and quiet, and we would look out for each other. In a way, it felt like a community that respects one another's peace and privacy. There def some issues with the apartment here and there, but management would be responsive and quick to resolve the issue. In the end, the landlords wanted me to partially pay for repainting the unit and took it out of my security deposit, but LUCKILY the management has great employees like Ariana, who did their best to resolve the issue. I lived at the Willoughby Avenue 1 bedroom unit for about 1.5 years and loved the community so much. All my neighbors were very kind and always looked out for each other. The longterm resident Damon was especially always very helpful and kind. The apartments are a little bit older but had so much charm. Due to the apartments being a little older there were definitely issues here and there but management was always easy to get in contact with (via web portal). They were super responsive and Ariana Montes who was the one who showed me the unit to begin with was always extremely helpful. The management was so flexible too with my move out. I moved into an apartment managed by this company about three months ago. When I was inquiring about the apartment all of my questions were answered within the week. Within two weeks I was moving into my new apartment. The girls at the office were there during my move in to make sure there weren't any issues. So far all of my concerns have been addressed in a timely manner. I have called about four times with different issues that I wanted to be addressed and every time someone has been there to correct the issue within the week. After the two reviews posted here (and I'm not doubting their legitimacy) I thought I would post about my experience here, as it's been so different. I'm approaching the end my first year as a tenant in a Clint Lukens managed apartment and I have had a fantastic experience. Old buildings often come with a fair amount of issues, but any problem I have had with my unit, be it plumbing or air conditioning or the toilet, has been dealt with quickly and efficiently by friendly maintenance people. My rent is fairly priced and the exterior and common areas of the building are well maintained. I see Lukens and his staff taking pride in the building, as they should. It's in an incredible neighborhood and they are doing a great job keeping it up. If service like this continues, I plan on being here a long, long time. read more

My boyfriend and I lived in the apartment complex in Chinatown, close to Gold Line and Dodgers stadium which was excellent. The grounds were well maintained, the apartment was laid out well, and we really enjoyed our time living there. The neighbors were all incredibly nice, and the complex and the whole street had a nice community vibe, not to mention quiet! What a view of downtown and the sunrise if you can manage to get up early enough! :) The AC kept the place super cool during those hot LA days, which we really appreciated. To update my review, my one star rating is further solidified. Frankly, negative stars are deserved here. I received a fairly nasty and accusatory email from Clint essentially blaming me, the customer, for his office's inability to provide adequate and effective customer service. He accused me of "bullying" him by writing an unfavorable review. My experience was awful and he is going further, making it it even worse. This business is not a place to patronize. Selling your real estate or allowing this company to manage your properties is a poor idea that will cost you money and time. If you voice any dissatisfaction or ask for changes to be made, you will be accused, insulted and more distressingly, blamed for how badly this office treats customers. If you want marketing materials, forget it. A sales rep who says hello and good bye to each agent or buyer, forget it. Someone who gives you updates or even calls you first, forget it. I called their office and got no feedback and no updates unless I begged for them and even then, it was non-existent or minimal, at best. It's a sad day. I just want to clarify, the agent who ended up representing me did a stellar job, produced lovely marketing materials and was present through the entire transaction. It was a stark contrast to the treatment I have received, and am still subjected to, by Clint Lukens. He's as bad as his staff. He will not uphold his end of the contract, no matter how smooth his sales pitch. Keep looking for someone better. Try Richard Stanley at Coldwell Banker. At least he will produce marketing materials, put up a sign, show up to open houses and generally do his job. With a smile and a pleasant demeanor, as well. Clint Lukens and his staff are not professional, nor worthy of criticism, constructive or otherwise. They just don't care at all. Apathy seems to be the prevailing emotion around these parts. Why bother even telling them what's wrong, they only want to blame you and act like it's the customer's fault. At no time does a smart, successful business attack their customers and tell them their experience was invalid or in any way their fault. You are selling a product. UPDATE to this review, responding to the business owner's reply. Bottom line, Clint: 5 years, and never missed a rent payment. In the end, they refused to accept our money so they could force us out and DOUBLE the rent on the unit we were living in. Which they did. Don't lie to yourself, Clint. Frankly, I'm not surprised that any owner in that area of Hollywood would want to talk to tenants about a plan to move out so they can raise rent and reap the benefits of a boon in the rental market. But be upfront and make me an offer. Don't play games, threaten legal action and bully your tenants. As a business person myself, I'm appalled at the lack of ethics and the inability to comprehend negotiations, honesty, and seeking the best solution for all parties involved. Especially since I do a lot of business with USC Graduates (your Alma Mater, right Clint?). Thankfully, I get to pick and choose who to do business with and I'm certainly glad I'm not paying any $ to your company anymore. A conservative estimate of how much $ I paid to CLR over 5 years: 12 mos. X $1200 X 5 = $72,000. Cash. In the end of our dealings, he treated me like I never had any relationship with their company. Be forewarned prospective and current tenants, and don't let anybody bully or deceive you. There's a better way of doing business, Clint. I hope some day you learn what you did here, but in the meanwhile, thanks for giving me an education and a life-lesson I wouldn't have had without your lack of leadership and being on the receiving end of it. At first, when I moved in, I , like many others, experienced the slums. The first night I went to put my stuff in the unit, there was a fiesta of cockroaches literally ALL OVER THE WALLS AND ROOF AND FLOOR. It was like a horror movie. However, surprisingly, and although I AM VERY ABRASIVE (I am a very pushy "get what I want" type of person) they ended up clearing the cockroach infestation in 30 days. This meant however I had to remove my dogs, and could not unpack, and could not use any cabinets, etc, for 30 days. So that part of the experience was freaking HORRIBLE. I felt I should have gotten free rent. Then there is the dog urine.. there is pee on the walkway a lot. I got fed up and sent them a message with photos of the urine and luckily they ended up sending out a letter to get everyone to clean up their dog pee. They also had to repair a screen door. They claimed it was on order for 30 days then realized it wasnt and had to come re-measure, etc. All in all, I go in every time I have a problem thinking they are going to be HORRIBLE just like EVERYONE ELSE in my past (previous landlords) but they have repaired everything (some blinds and things) and they are ACTUALLY NICE TO ME and they actually FIX things! I ended up having a complete 180 of my first opinion of them. I am very pleased with the service so far, and I've been there about half a year. They even sent me some gas cards for my inconveniences. I have never had that kind of treatment before which is how I turned into the abrasive tenant that I am (I'm very abrasive!). I have never not experienced push back from cruddy cheap landlords who never take responsibility for their properties. They even had this super ex-military cockroach expert out to the unit. I didn't have to pay anything, they obliterated the nest. I haven't seen a roach since. I'm very pleased. They take care of their properties. You do have to call them to get them to do anything. Sometimes four times. But they DO IT. 4 stars only because of the first month of cockroach hell. I give em 5 stars for service. read more

Condescending, rude and downright sneaky feeling when I called and spoke to someone when I was looking for an agent. The whole phone interaction made me feel like I was auditioning for a game show or was dirt under their feet. All you have to do is read Clint's responses to negative reviews here to see how he acts. Citing personal info such as notice of default that a client supposedly received in retaliation for a negative review is all you need to know. I just recently read an article where his agent, Nicole, admits going into stores and lying to get information from current tenants so she can contact the owners of the property, have the current tenants kicked out, get new ones in and make a hefty commission. It reminded me of what a horrible feeling I got from them several months back. Slime ball tactics all around. Avoid this company. read more
