WARNING: Dishonest, Unprofessional, and Unsafe Grooming - Please Read Before Taking Your Pet Here
If I could give zero stars, I absolutely would. My 17-year-old daughter took our small 20-pound Shih Tzu-Poodle mix to Clip N Tails for what was supposed to be a full-service grooming appointment. Everything was confirmed clearly at drop-off -- the service was to include: haircut, shampoo and blow-dry, ear cleaning, teeth brushing, nail trim, and trimming of the sanitary areas and face -- all for a quoted price of $70.
What was actually done was only a portion of that service: our dog received a shampoo and blow-dry, nail trim, teeth brushing, and a bottom shave.
However, he did not receive a haircut, ear cleaning, or face trim -- major parts of a full groom that were clearly promised and paid for.
When my daughter picked him up, she immediately noticed that he had not received a haircut and asked about it. She was told that if she wanted his haircut done, she could bring him back tomorrow and pay an additional $10.
Yes -- they expected her to pay again for the haircut that was already part of the original $70 service.
I called Clip N Tails less than five minutes after my daughter left the store to address the issue. The woman who answered said she "wasn't sure which dog" I was referring to -- which, honestly, made me question how many other customers might be experiencing similar issues that day. When I explained the situation, she immediately told me that we would not be receiving a refund for the services that were not performed.
I then asked to speak with the owner, hoping to resolve the situation professionally. She told me very directly that not only would no refund be given, but that the owner would not be calling me back.
That was it -- no accountability, no apology, no concern, and no willingness to even have a discussion about what had gone wrong. The only service she seemed aware of or willing to discuss was the haircut -- not the missing ear cleaning, not the face trim, and certainly not what we later discovered once our dog was home.
Because once we got him home and looked more closely, we realized it was even worse than we thought. During the trimming of his bottom area, they had actually cut his skin, leaving a visible, painful spot. This was not mentioned, not disclosed, and not treated with any care or concern. The fact that they injured our dog and said nothing about it is deeply upsetting and completely unacceptable.
To make matters worse, when I questioned the employee about why our small 20-pound Shih Tzu-Poodle would be considered a "large dog" (as she tried to justify the added charge and poor service), she quickly became dismissive and ended the conversation.
This entire experience was shocking -- not only because of the poor quality of grooming but because of the complete lack of compassion, accountability, and integrity. A business that works with living, breathing animals should prioritize their well-being and safety above all else. Instead, this experience left us heartbroken, frustrated, and deeply concerned for any other pets who may be treated the same way.
I am leaving this review not out of anger, but out of genuine concern for other pet owners who trust their animals to be treated with care and honesty.
Please, if you love your pet -- read before you take them to Clip N Tails.
They charged for a full-service groom, delivered only part of it, injured our dog, refused to take responsibility, and made it clear that the owner had no intention of addressing it. This is not a simple mistake -- it's a complete failure of customer service, ethics, and care.
Our pets can't speak up for themselves, so it's up to us to protect them. I hope sharing our experience prevents another family from going through what we did.
