All went well, they gave tips for grooming, it was my first time, I took my daughter's pet. I didn't know that the pet gets nervous, or that when you make your appointment mines at 8am and they're there for 4 hours picked up at 12pm. I learned that there is a different detangle comb used for the ears and tail to avoid matting. A different brush for the rest of the body but the same detangle product for both. What to use and why. This review is specifically for the grooming department. After 5+ years of taking my dogs to this place, I finally gave up and decided to go to a different, smaller, place. The manager is a total b*tch. They whined each time I brought my dogs because they're mini poodles and claimed they were too tangled to be groomed. Even when I had JUST brushed them out myself. It's already $85 to groom a tiny 10lbs dog, and then they always up-charged $15 for "detangling." They also take 4-5 hours to groom because they always double -book instead of taking it one dog at a time. And if you want express grooming, it's an extra $20. And of course you always get bad looks if you don't tip. It's ridiculous. Each time ended up being $110! My new place is $80 out the door! No whining, and they're super sweet and even take cute pics of every fur baby. Btw, they also seem to profile. I've seen them let customers go with receipt in one hand and dog in the other and they're trusted to pay at the register. But whenever I picked up my dog, I was told I had to pay at the register first and then come back for my dog. I hated everything about this place. The Doggy Day Camp at PetSmart on N.5th us great! They took care of our two timid Bernese Mtn Dog/Springer Spaniel/Australian Sherpherd mix sisters. The staff have taught them to come out of their shells and show off their personalities. They fur kids have made new dog friends. The staff is incredible there and are very loving of our dogs. We bring them snacks so they have throughout their day because they too are thoughtful when we drop off and pick up our two fur kids. Honestly the store itself is absolutely great, I love the front of house staff. Always ask how I'm doing and will assist when needing help. The issue is the grooming area... We took our sweet boy in for his first ever haircut and it all went horribly wrong. The second we walked in we got told that we don't know how to brush his hair properly.. Then they decide to tell me my dog is a golden doodle not a cavapoo. I honestly was in shock by the amount of disrespect these lady's got. In the end his first haircut was a disaster and he definitely looks like he stuck a fork into an electric socket. Definitely not welcoming for a puppy. read more

Terrible experience. Honestly the staff should just keep all the animals and only sell products. We asked to buy fish and the woman educated us on keeping the water stable first before buying and that was good to know but then it all went downhill when I asked if one of the products she offered to me was the most expensive one and she then became VERY rude, defensive and condescending because the item WASN'T the most expensive and she's all about the animal NOT the price and she hates when people assume that!... Lady chill it was a sincere question because you showed me like three product lines and I got confused Geeze. You would have thought I personally attacked her or something. I go to this location quite frequently since it's close to my house. And I have enjoyed every other experience with other cashiers except for today. Today I had Cassie as my cashier and I was asking how the point system worked since I had so many points racked up. Cassie was very rude and didn't know much about the point system when I asked if I can use only half my points towards my purchase. She was not helpful at all. Please make sure to inform your employees regarding your point system so they could help their customers kindly. read more

So I wanted to share that I did give 3 stars however the purpose for my visit was for my dog to get a grooming. The experience with the grooming staff and experience was very positive and they do deserve a 5 star rating, however Petsmart as a whole has some opportunities for improvement. So my first though is the PetSmart website and app really needs some help. They appear to have some good tools that could help with multiple process, however it seems that you get thru a process, like paying, and the website just kicks you back to start or just simply does nothing when submitting. My second thought is their up front customer service, when I went to pay for the services, I tried to ask a question and the cashier just ignored me and went on to the next customer. He seemed really annoyed to be at work (I get it, we all have bad days) but I really had the impression that the employees up front really didn't want to be there. Again, look forward to using this location again for grooming services, and hoping that I caught the team on a unique day and will be able to update this review and add more stars. read more

Young girl very short haircut working the register at 1230pm PST at the north 5th location. I have such an ignored phone experience. This is the third time it's happened I get to the register she talks to the person in front of me talks to the people coming in the door doesn't make any chat with me and goes out of her way to talk to the person behind me while I'm standing in her face. Boarded our dog for 2 nights. Upon check in the girl seemed clueless. We wanted to confirm the extras and she's like I don't know if you put it on there we should get it but couldn't find our profile sheet where we gave vital pet info. Didn't get a call/text/photos. We printed our dog's commands and the next day no one could find them. They said the dog bed was soiled, tried to wash it, but the over night staff didn't finish the laundry. To their credit, gave us a new bed. But our dog is fully potty trained, goes to the bathroom on command, and has never had an accident. Best guess, they didn't took him out enough. The girl at check out was from another store and told us that this stores management left and most staff went with them, and just that they are still going through a management issue. We did call on the second day and a nice young man was enthused about playing with our dog though he was there for one shift. At checkout the girl refunded us the extra playtime our dog never got that day but we never got a report card or paperwork on anything regarding his stay. While we appreciate the 2 out of many employees who were kind and offered the explanation for poor service, we will never be back. read more

Karina is so great every time my pup and I come shop at this PetSmart. This location is always clean and never too crowded. If she is at check out, my pup is always greeting so pleasantly as well as given a treat Don't forget to be a rewards member because those savings sure do add up over time! Definitely worth it. Also there is an app that you can play games and also win coupons. Who would have thought My one suggestion for this PetSmart is to really look into the management of the grooming staff. My pup had two really bad experiences there and that's why I keep her clear from that back area. Hopefully they took care of the awful staff that caused the problems, but it would be nice to bring her back. Maybe one day I will give them another chance. read more

Grooming department. Apparently they fear barking tiny chiwawa. I took both my puppies there and sure they bark a little when they are nervous. The associate took about 10 minutes so they could verify they've been vaccinated. After she confirmed they were in fact vaccinated clerk turned me down for services because she feared for her life. She said I can't help you because your dogs are barking. After talking to manager Alexis she confirmed it was due to policy she just made up to protect the qualified associate that's worked there for years and she made the right call in her suspicions of aggressive dog. I don't recommend anyone with dogs that may bark at this place at all. They were not that busy and I'm not surprised at all. These people try to ovoid work as much as possible. This place is not a pet friendly place. I took my dogs to clip & tails where they were more friendly with pets and understanding. Pets get nervous and anxious at times to show it they bark. If you pick that occupation learn to understand that dogs sometimes bark. The manager of course makes up a so called policy on barking dogs are not welcome at petsmart. Well I've been at petsmart plenty of times and heard barking dogs and I never seen them being refused of service. I guess bottom line is if they feel like refusing you service it will revise a new made up policy to protect their actions. I will not bring my business here anymore. 2 days ago, at 7pm on a Friday night, I walked into this PetSmart not thinking much about finding a kitten to call my own. 3 weeks ago I lost my one tuxedo to renal failure, leaving her sister all alone and my folks and I devastated. We went in search of a friend for her sister this past Friday, looking at the Hearts Alive shelter for kittens...but we struck out and I asked my parents if we could check out this PetSmart, since I know they put up animals for adoption. We walked in there and I looked around for the adoption center, and as soon as I glanced around at all these beautiful cats...my heart glowed at seeing this 4-month old tabby male named Tito. He looked so gentle, ever at peace with his sister and friend Dolly. My mom was the first to hold him and her heart melted, being a cat lover...then it was my turn. She handed him to me, and I was in love with how sweet and gentle he became in my arms...snuggling himself into my chest and looking to me as if he found a home. We vowed the next day we'd return to adopt him...we did just that. We brought our black lab to see Tito through the glass and he had no problems; nor showed signs of fear or anger towards a dog. We knew Friday night we had found our kitten and so we filled out the paperwork this past Saturday morning to adopt him. Only to find out Sunday afternoon, after not hearing any notice for 24 hours from Hearts Alive...my folks went to PetSmart to see Tito. Just to find that a volunteer had come late that night and took Tito, planning to adopt him & that our application had been shoved under a pile of papers...as if to say this had never happened. Devastated, shattered, lost, and confused as to why a place who says they want nothing more than to give an animal a home...would do this to a family like yours or mine. This sneaky backhanded operation, could've happened to any one of you looking to adopt. This volunteer was never made aware to us beforehand, PetSmart made it appear like he was totally ours, and that there were zero signs about him going anywhere...it was about as cold-hearted as one could've done to a family. This store, this manger, do not care about finding you an animal to call yours...if they've got their heart set of making other "deals" happen, they'll do so. Had my folks not come in yesterday, we would've been left in the lurk...waiting and praying to call Tito, a part of our family & open a part of our hearts to him. This is not a message of anger, but a fore-warning to anyone looking to this store for adoption purposes. I'm at a loss for words that this how the manager handled our application, and how selfish these people were to not consider if Tito might have found himself a family. Save yourself the pain, and look elsewhere if you wish to actually give an animal a home. This store does not think of you as its priority. read more

Absolutely awful. Disappointed in the grooming services offered here. A year ago, we brought one of our dogs for grooming. He got his fur shaved a little for summer time. A few days later, I found a HUGE cut and scab on his back underneath his fur. No one told us about it, and it was significant enough that it went down HALF of his back. We didn't initially take pictures or complain because he's a really nervous dog so we thought maybe he moved and it was just an accident because we had never had this happen to our other dog and they would always tell us about how our dogs behaved during their visit. Until last Friday, July 16, 2021. My dog went in for grooming. He's a really furry shih tzu mix so his hair gets really long and tangled. He usually gets shaved down really short just so the hair doesn't continue to tangle. On July 17, 2021 we found a huge cut on my dog. Again, no one told us about the cut He's VERY calm and very behaved at the groomers, even at home if we trim his hair he is behaved. No one told us about the cut, we had to find out on our own at home. That is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE behavior on the staff member who did this. read more

We got a dog at the shelter. Hes an old man of 10 years. He was matted with dreads and poop all in his coat. I called to make an appointment, they made one for first thing the morning. It took a very long time to finish his appointment. He looks and smells amazing!! They took their time and really did a great job. We couldn't be happier. I took my dog to get groomed a few months back and didn't like the work that was done. The shave was uneven and the person didn't clean her eye boogers. But just rude today? I still waited and we tried the clippers beforehand as a test run he was nervous; didn't go into any shock. After the bath though they came out and told me that he just seems really nervous and can't do it now because they're afraid he'll go into that shock. We had JUST saw him together when he had a practice test with the clippers but now they won't even try. It probably will be 55$ still. Not worth it. Just overall, didn't seem like they wanted to try. I purchased an inflatable dog collar here at the last minute as my vet has only the hard ones. My vet is located in pets mart therefore it was a convenient buy. I was appalled that it was $39.99 for a medium but bought anyway only to find it on their website at $25.99. I called and they had no explanation as to why and no apologies for the inconvenience, she instead said well you're welcome to come back for your "5 bucks" or whatever. I said ok and hung up but honestly I will come back for my $14 + dollars and I would suggest they check this practice as it's unethical to charge different pricing unless it's stated as an online only price. Especially when I can get it on amazon or even at PETCO for significantly cheaper. I've shopped my 11 years as a pet owner always at PetSmart but will rethink that since they have bad practices. I received a $10 coupon off pet grooming from pet smart so I took my 6 months old shih tzu there today. Maria was his groomer. From the moment we came in, I was impressed. She was very welcoming, informative and immediately started making my trembling puppy at ease. 4hrs later, I picked up a uniformly trimmed, handsome little pup. Can't thank Maria enough for being so nice and kind to my little one. She clearly loves what she does. I think I have found my puppy's forever groomer. They are a little more expensive than Clip-N-Tails where we used to take him but he is more comfortable here. Wish they offered military discount too though. Other than that I have no complaints whatsoever. read more

ATTENTION I'm only doing this review to bring awareness to all pet owners to NOT bring your loved one here. I brought my dog here to get groomed and I know he's not aggressive or bite at all. I've brought him here before and had no issues with his behavior. When I picked him up, this recent appointment, they returned him with cuts inside his ears and around his body. I was frustrated and confronted the manager about it and basically told me they can't do anything because it could've been the dog's behavior. I thought this was wrong because my dog is 6 years old and never had problems with grooming aggression. He's now showing trauma in the house ever since the appointment. We can't leave him alone because he feels scared and just cries. He's just not as happy and lively as he was before. When I brought him back to talk to the manager, he peed himself and started shaking heavily because he was scared of whatever happened. Save your pet and DO NOT come here. read more
